- Winter Trout Fishing on the South Platte River in Downtown Denver COLORADO -
January 18, 2018 - South Platte Park, Littleton, CO
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
though the mountains are always calling, im extremely excited i went down towards littleton to check out a few of the local parks. its awesome being able to find trout this close to downtown denver. like i mentioned in the video, later on when its warmer i think it'd be really cool to catch some bass and ther fish on a fly rod.
the area is great for a lot of other activities as well: hiking, biking, lots of open spaces and spots to enjoy.

Have you seen my first episode, fishing for hand-sized brown trout at Evergreen Dam?

You're about the only fly-fishing UA-camr who actually shares where they are fishing and what kind of tackle they are using. Thank you so much for that!
Love the vid, and thank you for showingus how, as well as where to catch fish. I am tired of all these Jerks on UA-cam who act like a public waterway is their own private "HoneyHole".
Absolutely! I totally understand where you’re coming from and I’ve watched dozens of videos where I wanna know where ppl at and figured I’d try to showcase locations more. My suggestion if you’re looking to fish these waters and it’s slightly warmer go as far as you can to the dam, and while you do, fish can honestly be hiding in the weirdest places, I looked for deep pools or fast moving water as long as there was enough depth, that’s what I finally figured out, I’ve heard tho in the warmer months you can get a lot of carp and other species along the way. Happy fishing and good luck!
You show great sportsmanship by treading carefully, respect for nature in all things, I enjoyed seeing Coors Field in downtown Denver. You'll enjoy catching bass, crappie, sunfish, catfish, blue gills, Wipers, Walleye & trout on a flyrod. It's awesome.
Thank you i appreciate it! the land offers so much and i want to do my best to treat it well and always learn more. i cant wait to pull some other species out of these waters!
Love your vlog bro. Appreciate all of your tips always. 👍🏽
Thank you! anything i learn im just trying to pass on!
When you see crayfish fish crayfish pats rubber legs work well strip it if the fish don’t like the dead drift sockers like movement, also they like eggs worms hot spots on random flies. Thanks for putting out fly fishing content Colorado has been my favorite destination yet.
that makes so much sense im more mad at myself for not thinking that immediatly ha,thanks for the tip info!
That's so funny you catch fish there, lol. I used to ride my bike down that bike path. I'd always look off to the river and think "I wonder how many fish I could catch outta here?".
ha i never thought to fish until i stumbled upon someone elses videos. great trails though all around the area for all sorts of activities!
Way to switch it up and get the fish to bite. Nice video keep up the good work.
Always hard to stop fishing once you get them to bite.
thanks! and isnt that always the way it works ha
That stretch of the river is awesome in the spring the fish get so aggressive in that spot
i can vouch for this
have you ever seen anyone catach anything other than trout? ive heard rumors of giant carp and other species in the warmer months
That’s a tough little section, I live right next to that river right were you were. That first section you fished is filled in the summer. I’ve caught trout, smallies, and a good size walleye out of that riffle.
most definitely, i spent so much time casting and walking before the first hook. i cant wait to try and get other fish out of those waters
Is there trout up towards Greeley on the south platte river? Any species in general to be targeted that far from the lake?
awesome content! keep up the good work
thank you!
I live 5 minutes west of where you fished. I’ve been tubing down there. Never thought of fishing.
ive heard that some other species are in those waters in the warmer months too, seen some videos of ppl pulling out some large carp!
@allorado_adventure I was there a few weeks ago. A Ranger saw someone walking with a huge catfish. I'm pretty sure he caught it at the first pool you caught that trout in. And I've definitely seen 20 lb carp there, a school of em. Also that eaglewatch has some trout in it.
You should check out O'Haver lake. Great fishing spot
Great Video!
How do you tell the difference between male and female rainbows?
I drive by that spot all the time.. always wondered
its my new favoerite quick trip escape!
Thats a really good smallie stretch
Been watching your channel for a while now and was wondering what your thoughts are on consumption of fish from the south platte given the E.Coli and Mercury content? I only ask because im down in Castle Rock and thought i was so lucky living this close to the SP until i found out about this. And where is the best place to catch the “Cleanest” fosh for consumption in CO? Love ur vids!
sadly this jnever crossed my mind until now, i do trust those fish higher out in the mountains, but i think i'll have to do some reasearch about those close by for sure, thanks for the info tip though!
Alpine lakes with good oxygen would be ideal for clean fish.
When you gonna make more videos this was fun to watch great video
thank you! unfortunately, i've been incredibly busy with a new job :/ but i hope to get back out soon!
Go up to Deckers. Santa Fe to Sedalia. Then west to the south Platte river. Then go left to deckers store.
Only 30 mints from sedalia. Lot better fishing but can get crouded.
8" to 14" trout average.🙂
All catch and release their.
Bill Peirce i definitely love deckers! And honestly sometimes it takes me almost as long to get through traffic to south of Denver vs heading out west ha!
keep it up bud, way to put in the effort i live and do allot of fishing in southern co hit me up if you ever come down. bait fishing spin fishing fly fishing tenkara and Keiryu multiple species
You are in Littleton dude
Just Fyi - The third fly you had isn't a copper john... looks like a foam back emerger. Fun video!
ah my mistake! thanks!
Guys up at flies n lies in deckers call it a chocolate thunder. Awesome fly.
What kind of camera do you use, it takes amazing video? Enjoy your video's.
thanks! i have a canon 80D and then switch with my iphone and gopro when i need. if you're interested feel free to check out my blog where i have all my gear listed along with detailed posts with more information from trips!
Not in Downtown but Littleton
You didn’t fish the chatfield spillway big trout and big smallies there
I will give it a try
If you wana catch nothing come to the part of south platte. In commerce city and Thornton.
ha i've always wondered how much farther you can go, i've seen pictures of ppl pull in some fish all the way by sports authority even!
Hehe Just giving you a good vid idea 😂😂
I’m in Colorado Springs I know a trout honey hole
whatcha got down therE? i've only done the tri lakes area
Don't know if you seen the signs but wading is not allowed there pretty sure because of the snapping turtles, btw great release and respect of the fish, nice job
i had watched other videos of others wading but good to know the rules! it would be cool to see a snapping turtle come out there for sure, and thanks!
Their is no signs because u can wade in the hole river.
Always have ben able to.
@@allorado_adventure Dragonwheel don't know jack

Great video hate the music
all those cameras are bird watchers. it is a huuuuuge hobby there. i fish there all the time. you should check out my channel.
i'll have to try that the next time! thanks, i gave you a subscribe!
thanks! i already subbed to you weeks ago. i like your videos man.
This isnt even close to downtown Denver.....
That’s not downtown
Colorado has no fish. You should all try California. I hear the fish are huge.
The music is a bit much. Great content otherwise.
This spot sucks ass. I work close and fish there a lot. Get small ones or skunked
