    My grampa favorite fishing spot, he used to bring me up to Deckers in the early 80’s and it’s far different now it can get so crowded.

    Enjoyed the video. I’m in town for work and decided to go check out Deckers tomorrow morning. I’m still semi-new to fly fishing so we’ll see how it goes!

    Nice video ALLORADO! Nicely done, and you know ... a "bad" day fishing is better than ... ! Gorgeous scenery! I am working on a move to that area soon and this is very pleasing to watch. Thank you.

    Nice video. I enjoyed it. I could not tell if you had an indicator on when you were nymphing. If not you may want to use one as you may be missing fish who are spitting your fly out before you notice them. Nice brown at the end! Keep it up.

    Nice fish. I fished Deckers this past March. A few good bows and some really nice browns hanging below the reds. Good job on the video feed too. Lots of fishing and not a lot of talking to the camera with the "Hey Vern!" like lots of folks posting.

      Brian McMullen hey I normally toggle between the “trouts fly fishing” and blue quill. See what both are saying about a particular stream I’m interested in and also who has the most updated posts along w going back a few days and seeing trends . Good luck out there!

    Thanks for your work and posting the video. I like the style of your videos. Question... at 4:53 you are fishing directly across from someone. Do you know that person? It's one of my only gripes about Deckers. People will fish too close to me, or jump in the hole above as I'm working upstream.

    • @allorado_adventure
      @allorado_adventure  6 років тому

      Thanks! and i totally agree. one of my worst experiences is when someone downstream let their dogs loose and they ran right into the water across my lines, kicking and swimming about. i had to completely change locations... its a buddy of mine that i go fishing with the most. my wide angle gopro messes with the angles a bit, but thats a giant pool that usually produces a lot of fish for us. Thanks for watching!

    Throw some mends upstream! It'll give you a better drift and you can catch some of those stubborn deckers trout.

    • @allorado_adventure
      @allorado_adventure  7 років тому +1

      i definitely need to work on maximizing the amount of water i fish to cover more area!

    • @Brainwavs
      @Brainwavs 7 років тому

      It's not about maximizing the amount of water you fish, you mend to give yourself a natural drift. When your fly line leads your bugs in a different speed current, it pulls on them unnaturally at the speed of the current your fly line is in. The fish at Deckers are smart, they'll recognize this in a heartbeat and refuse your bugs without hesitation.
      Also, unless you want to break that Sage One, you should NEVER grip it above the cork, fly rods are not designed to have their stress points changed like that.
      While we're on the subject of advice, you need to work on your release. You should be gripping the fish by the tail with the current in a gentle swaying motion to work oxygen back into their gills. The fish will swim off when it is ready, not hang around your feet like yours did, those fish are tired and are at a much higher risk of dying after being caught.
      I don't want this comment to sound dickish because you've got a cool foundation here but... You've got G3's and a Sage One, you might want to consider purchasing a book on the basics.

    • @allorado_adventure
      @allorado_adventure  7 років тому +1

      ah gotcha, thanks for clarifying! i do understand that as the line will pull in different current speeds creating an unnatural flow, im not too good at it yet but hope to be someday with practicing!
      i didnt know that about the rods as well so thank you! i'll make sure to handle it just on the butt end to prevent damage.
      good to know as well, im for sure not anywhere near a pro level and just want to learn more about it all. thanks for the tip on the release as well. it was interesting as the fish actually came back over to me which is when i was able to get the additional shot, but i will pay full attention next time to do my best in ensuring continued life.
      thank you, the gear was actually a very gracious gift so im not really familiar with any other brands. what books do you suggest?

    • @connorchen4052
      @connorchen4052 7 років тому

      A lot of that will start becoming instinctual as you fish more and more. You will be able to start distinguishing a good drift from a bad one. The south platte is definitely one of the harder waters in Colorado and nothing can substitute a good drift especially at this time of year. We are bashing you or trying to embarrass you but just to pass on knowledge. Can't wait for the next video!

    • @allorado_adventure
      @allorado_adventure  7 років тому

      thats what im hoping for, just continue learning more! i apologize as my tone might not be best represented through comments, i truly do appreciate the info and tips. my goal is just to get better!

      Henrik Noreng I only tie easy things like San Juan worms and some head heads. Majority of the rest I get from my dad who is incredible at it. Then I still like to get some from the small stores now and then if they’re ever recommending anything and support
