    As ever Nitsan, this is a great video and uber-informative. I have a load of Bowens heads that I'm going to offload for this, I rarely use a fixed studio anymore and everything is mobile or clients offices.
    Most of my modifiers are Pixapro / Godox. I have a couple of LS1s units and other Aputure battery lights which I use with softboxes thanks to your reviews.
    thank you!

      I have the Godox non TTL version AD600BM which is so nice I am hesitating to use it in my studio for mixed daylight pictures. I have top of the line Broncolor which is great for high powered set ups but when you need just a touch of flash these units are great. I will likely buy more Bowens s mount reflectors, and start using these more than the studio flash as they are fast, incredible power range, and the accessories inexpensive.

    Well reviewed thanks. I have the manual version with the extension. Fantastic unit. Probably not as good as a profoto in regards to consistency in WB but really good value battery powered flash. I wish they would just brand them all Godox though.

    Very happy with this review! You did a wonderful job. I would also like to express your 'fast flash' / 'boring' part was actually interesting, to see how quickly the unit can recycle power and get on to the next shot. I guess anyone who hasn't shot people portraits 'on-location' and had to waste several photos where the lights didn't fire because of lack of power would find it boring .... I see it as solution to my past experienced problems. Once again, thank you!

    i don't know if you already got the answer but, the Godox XT32C 2.4G trigger uses a USB receiver called XTR-16 and those can be plugged in the usb port on top of the strobe, i've tested them and they work great.

    To achieve HSS, does this unit use a series of pulses? Also, can you connect a Canon ST-E3-RT to the trigger's hotshoe to control Canon Speedlights?

    • @nitsan
      @nitsan  7 років тому

      Hi
      Yes sometimes this would do a pre-pulse before the shot, but I'm not sure if that was for HSS or TTL or both. My guess would be that it's for TTL.
      And not sure about adding the Canon trigger. You might need to ask Pixapro or someone who has both.

  • @SullyCortez

    lol your reviews are so damn funny. 'Don't drop your bulb on the glass' DINK as the bulb clinks against the glass hahaha. No but seriously Nitsan love your channel and your videos. Question, will this work with the XT1 controller from Godox? It's basically the EXACT same thing in design, but I wasn't sure as I was gonna buy the Godox AD600BM but now that I just saw this video i've decided against it and am considering the pixapro... UPDATE: I just realized your US links point to the Godox AD600BM so I'm assuming this is the US version of the PIXAPRO. right?

    • @nitsan
      @nitsan  7 років тому +3

      LOL thanks glad you like my vids. :D
      Yes it works with my Godox X1 trigger.
      Pixapro is a UK version. As RJ said I think Flash Point is a US version.
      So yes definitely going with a local one is best, as you get the best support.

    Hi Nitsan great video bro. I bought my AD600 in Amazon and I got a question... when I shoot in HSS with my nikon D610 I'm always watching a strip of light on the lower edge of the sensor and I don't know why, I have used 1/4000 and 1/2000 with different apertures and nothing, something is happening with the last curtain I think, but it has happened to you or someone else?

    • @nitsan
      @nitsan  6 років тому +1

      Hmmm.. I've not had that with this light.
      I've never shot on Nikon. Maybe try different front/rear curtain settings on both. Maybe different lens. Also different cam if you have one, to see if the issue is in the light or the camera.
      Could be something else though so best to ask the company. Pixapro might be able to help in English better than Godox.

      I've used the Pixapro lights with Godox triggers, and Godox lights with Pixapro triggers, so if I'm not mistaken the various rebrandings should be cross-compatible. I can't be sure though.

    Is there any compatibility with Fuji cameras? Specially the Xt-2.

    • @nitsan
      @nitsan  7 років тому

      I did not see a version of the trigger for Fuji, so my guess is no TTL or HSS. So if you go for the non-TTL version of this light (to save some money) with a trigger that works with your camera then it should work fine, and manual adjustment from the wireless trigger should still work well. (I'm assuming your camera has a hot shoe with a normal connection.)

    hi again, 1. for small studio do you think its enough to sync this model with other 2 Godox speedlight? 2. for spot light (for using as back light or head light specially if i want to use coloured gel, what should i use from Godox? pls advise.

    • @nitsan
      @nitsan  7 років тому +1

      Hi
      Yes I think you could use this with two speedlights and get great results. (I do something similar with my video lights, one big pixapro and 2-3 small aputure lights. I have many videos showing this in my favourites playlist.)
      I would use the big one with a big softbox and the smaller ones as they are or with other diffusers, for example you can get snoots that will point the light from the speedlites into a spot. Some of these come with gel attachments too. This isn't a must, in most situations the snoot isn't needed for a back/hair light, just use the zoom function of the speedlight.
      If you want to use the big godox as a spotlight with gels, I have a review about a bowens attachment that does that. See my lighting playlist.

    • @mrz1342
      @mrz1342 7 років тому

      For my small studio Aperture LED or something like that is too much! Snood on speedlight is possible you are right but i want to know is there any small continues light from Godox that i can use it for background or head light?

    • @nitsan
      @nitsan  7 років тому +1

      Yes godox make continuous lights and yes you can use them together with a strobe if you want.
      In my video above, the studio shots that have back and hair lights are done with aputure 160 led lights at the back.

    • @mrz1342
      @mrz1342 7 років тому

      Nitsan Simantov ok finally I bought it, with extra speedlight and new AD200. Now I'm wondering (1) why I didn't buy profoto b2 kit with almost same price which is quite enough for my small studio as well as on location! (2) its very heavyweight to attach with a little small screw to be used as lighting with beauty dish or get worse and dangerous if i want to put it up (top of model in studio) I believe its not safe at all! Would u pls answer my first question instead of me to be convinced for my investment?! Also advise me how to attach it safely to my Avenger boom stand? Cheers

    • @nitsan
      @nitsan  7 років тому

      Hey. As far as I can see the Profoto B2 is about £1500 and is a similar weight. Looking at specs online:
      Profoto B2: 1.6kg generator + 0.7kg head = 2.3kg
      Godox AD600: 2.66kg
      So if you want the weight lower, you could get the head extension for the Godox. The extension head is very lightweight.

    • @nitsan

    The LCD display is showing that 1/128 power provides 1/8130 duration and 1/1 power provides 1/220 t0.1 duration
    That's a short duration at low power and a long duration at high power, which is as it should be (the opposite of what you said).
    Old-school flash units controlled flash power by varying the amount of energy they stored in the capacitor and always dumped the capacitor to empty. But by that method, although the peak brightness was lower, the total durtion down to t0.1 was the same.
    The fact that the t0.1 duration of this light shortens at lower power tells us that the flash unit is actually cutting off the capacitor dump rather than just filling the capacitor to a lesser level. Small flashes have done this for decades, but it's been only recently that sufficiently sturdy circuitry to do that has been available for studio-sized units.
    This is to be expected with a decently designed modern HSS unit--it's saving power for repeated flashes.

    • @nitsan
      @nitsan  7 років тому

      Yes. Low power = shorter duration.
      I don't believe I said otherwise.

    • @nitsan
      @nitsan  7 років тому

      At 8:57 I show that at the lowest power we get the shortest duration.
      Everything after that is just an explanation of the difference between T0.5 measurements and T0.1 measurements. Those are two methods of measurement, that is all.

    Will this work with Pentax?

    • @nitsan
      @nitsan  7 років тому

      It should work fine with any normal shot shoe but I have not tried Pentax.
      But it won't give you TTL or HSS, so I'd then go for the cheaper non-TTL version of this.

      flashpoint, godox, pixapro, cheetah, neewer, and a few others are just different branding of same gear... this equipment are kind of great, but the branding are confusing

      @nitsan  7 років тому

      Yes as mentioned in the video this is manufactured by Godox.
      It's rebranded in the UK as Pixapro, in the USA as Flash Point. (I didn't know about the flash point until someone said that in the comments)

      Contrast is created by how you use the light.

      As for the colour, I'd be happy to see an example of the issue. As far as I know this has no big colour issue.

      1. There's a price difference between the TTL and non-TTL versions. I only saw Newer in non-TTL.
      2. With Newer or some other rebrands that ship from China you'd need to pay import tax, depending on your country. Pixapro is in the UK.
      3. Pixapro have superb customer service. You won't get that with a Chinese Ebay seller.

      I am in the USA ... it is on Amazon site and has HSS

    • @nitsan
      @nitsan  6 років тому

      HSS and TTL are not the same thing.
      The TTL version costs more.
