Great work Francisco!
I am going to be buying a flashpoint 600pro and AD200 do you have a link that you would like me to use for you to get credit? Please respond by tomorrow
Thank you!
Gia Randazzo - Missed your comment but I have links to those in other videos.
FJH Photography love the shoot! Would love to hear from you more between shots instead of trying to read the small print!
That model is ASStounding.. 🙏🏿
very ASStute observation.
awesome feedBACK
great booty !
Truss me
Looks a little too big.
Love the shape of that "octabox"
octabox or the model , lol .
I really enjoy your format for how you discuss the topic at hand. I've only watched two of your videos, but i have benefitted from both! Keep posting and I look forward to seeing the progression of your both your photography and video work! 👍
Quiero felicitarte porque siendo tan joven has conseguido temprano ser un gran fotógrafo. Más aún compartir tus consejos fotográficos que me han sido muy útiles, gracias.
very beautiful model.
7 years ago! Wow, and still making great tutorial videos, thank you!
Best type of model one could hope for. Photos look amazing! I’m definitely going with a 60” octo and a heavy weight to hold it down.
I love the 18" the best, it is easier to create drama with the limited coverage of the octabox. As for the harshness of the light, it's not too bad and you can compensate with either reflector or-as you demostrated-with ambient light.
Who else is drooling over the model? GORGEOUS!!!
You're not alone. I think Ericka did great.
Thanks again for sharing this video Joey. It is really helpful and makes me smile when I see how much fun you, Ashley, and the model have. Keep it up brother.
Thanks, Michael! Fun is a priority. =D
These annotations are gold. Considering this is your first video, you nailed everything perfectly!
Thanks, Phillip! =)
you're quickly becoming one of my favorites...I like that you mentioned the gear you're using and your settings, really helps...I don't think I saw the camera and lens that you're using...thank you for sharing
Thanks, man! I used the Canon 6D and 135L lens. It's my favorite combo. =)
Great video. Gorgeous model
One of the best example. Practical and not just theory
Thank you!
Thank yoi for your videos. You are atm big inspiration for me dude, allready ordered a godox 600 ttl :)
Awesome! Whatta a photo! Congratulations for your work. Really amazing! Impressive!
Loved the video. Great work! I want more videos like this. Model was great. Beautiful in every way!
Thank you!
amazing tutorials and information i was having a hard time finding. made learning so much easier.
Nice model and poses. Gives me great ideas for shoots. Thanks!
I just bought my first octobox (48"), and luckily this video makes me feel like I made the right choice!
A couple of bits of feedback about the video: You should start bringing sandbags! That should help with the wind problem. Tip with C-Stands: Always point the tallest leg towards your talent, and hang the sandbag over that same leg. This makes it where, even if the stand does fall over, it won't land on your subject. :)
Thanks for the tips, Brad. My girlfriend usually stands on the c stand but she was studying offscreen for this shot.
@@fjhphoto I feel i needed to comment 5 years later knowing you...that your consistency and humility is top notch. bless you bro, i think in a short time i would be like you
Loved it! Very inspired after seeing your and Manny's recent videos.
Thank you! Yes, Manny is rocking it right now. =)
Thanks for the video that said, I am a high school senior shooter, I do 35 to 50 a year. There is no way on the planet i would drag out a 60" Octa for a shoot. I have used a 26 rapid box for the past three years and it has been amazing. Your shadows are pretty deep, you might want to use some time of fill. I usually go 3:1 or 4:1 ratio and that works well for me.
It's really not about size, it's about what you are doing, time, speed ect. The bigger the box the softer the light that said I use a beauty box with diffusion over it and I get great results. I also use a rogue for a ill and that works really well.
Good luck.
Thanks for making. Showing the softness between the 3 was great.
No problem! =)
Great video and thank you for the comparison, my next purchase will actually be something similar to what you have though I have been lagging trying to decide on size.
I don't know how it would help with that much wind(in this situation) but I have always kept a low center of gravity. Take a closer look at your bloopers, the octabank is already a sail and as soon it moves a little that bag reacts and speeds up the fall. I also keep the "tallest" stand leg pointing the same direction as your light, that way the weight of the diffussor is on the most stable leg, then make sure your weight is on that leg and not on the ground itself.
I don't know how people buy sandbags but here's what I did: buy empty sandbags (ebay 4 around $20) then go to your local hadware store and buy a bag of small rocks (dont remember the exact price but it was pretty cheap) because rocks are easier to clean than sand in case of a spill.
Keep up the great work!
Ufff...fine model. Great work guy...this help me choose the right one for my needs. Thanks.
Dude, I think you and I started shooting around the same time... now you're at 13,000 views. You're doing awesome!!! You keep stepping up the content and variety and its showing in your views.
Hey Jeff, thanks so much! I'm trying my best to put out some quality videos. I have a lot of stuff planned and hope everyone enjoys them once they're out. =)
Now 30K subscribers !
Great video dude! Keep them coming.
You are good , i love your work and thank’s for sharing and learning a lot from you!
Great video! Great job explaining.
This was great! Love the positivity :)
Excellent comparison, thanks!
I really did need this comparison, thank you so much! Decided to buy the 32 inches now ;)
Happy I could help! =)
Great video and I appreciate people like your self who take the time and effort to create educational content.
My only advice is the music is not always to my taste, though this is subjective to anybody watching. Just turn the volume of it down a little in editing. For stands I use my rucksack, tent pegs with cords to anchor the stands to the ground ( if on grass )
I LEARNED A LOT. This channel is very helpful
Great video.. this helped me in picking the 47" Octobox over the smaller ones.
Btw, the model in the video is NICE! She definitely working with something. Keep up the great work.
Awesome video, been following your work from the Strobist page on facebook. kudos!!!
Thanks, Rolly!
The model is very beautiful. Thanks
Thanks, you summed it up nicely and helped me decide on the right softbox size ^..^
Nice demonstration with the different softboxes. BTW the model is beautiful.
Thanks!
Sweet demonstration and model saves the equipment!

Loved this explained a lot to me
That Size !!! Love it !!!
Me too! 5ft is so awesome =)
Great video to display the difference. Thank you.
superb shots and great informative video. Thank you... subscribed
What a fun video. Everyone looked like they were enjoying themselves, which makes a shoot so much more pleasant. & with all that wind, you look like you shot this here in KS, where it's that windy all day, every day! As far as softboxes go, as much as I'd like to use something larger, I think I'd prefer the 38" for effectiveness & portability. (& there's that wind factor, too.) Thanks for sharing!
lovely model
Great Vid Man
Appreciate the Test - Photos are beautiful
Thanks, Stephen!
thanks for doing this. I'll def stick with getting something between 28"-36".
Love it, Thanks for reposting this
Nice I love the video and the model is stunning !!
Thanks, Michael! =)
This was fun and informative. Subbed!
Really loved the video. Thanks for posting.
You're welcome and thanks for watching, man!
I picked up an unintentional tip from this video: Put the strobe on the modifier, and THEN put the whole thing on the stand versus wrestling with putting the modifier on the strobe while its attached to the stand. Thanks!! Great video!!!
You're welcome and thanks for watching! Yeah, my gf actually gave me that tip, lol. I was doing it the other way for the longest.
Nice video Joey! Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome, Randy! Thanks for watching =)
Great video joey!

¿when you take the photo the exposure is on the middle or under exposure?
Useful tip🔥❤️
Thank you Francis, very helpful
You're welcome =)
Beautiful pictures. Very helpful for making decision.
Thanks and you're welcome =)
Great video! Nice job!
Great video and pics man...thanks
hey francisco, i think you have one of the most educational videos on web. i live, work and shoot in new york, i was actually looking to see some videos about small lightweight portable lights, i want to carry less weight with me when i travel. and found your video. so i watched it out of curiosity. you use different products, compare them, show the camera settings, change camera setting and show the difference and the final comparison shot of all 3 octabanks - how cool was that. it illustrates the difference so good. for people, when they don't know what to buy. what you could do maybe - show how the photos would look without the flash going off. so people can see that you are exposing for the background and then they see how much of a difference (all the difference) is the flash. great work, i'll be seeing your work in magazine soon, i'm sure ;) good luck
Thank you! That's a great idea. I'm going to probably start doing that for my videos. =)
Awesome video man!
Thanks, Josh!
I like the look from the small softbox
Very helpful. I was recently deciding which softbox to get and this helped my decision. I went for the midway cause I'll be shooting food and still objects more than people and rarely outdoors.
Glad I could help. The midway (38") is the one I recommend the most. =)
Nice video. Pretty model.
Great video , beautiful model as well .
useful video! thanks. adding a BD would've been a bonus
I enjoy your videos, but have a CC: Often you place your camera settings at the bottom of the screen. They aren't there for long, so when I pause the video the settings are overlaid with UA-cam's timeline. It would be nice if they were in an area where that won't happen. Thank you for helping me learn!
Great tip, I was going to mention the same thing.
YES!!!! AMEN
I second that motion
It's true. Thanks.
And making the text last a little longer on screen. I keep having to rewind, which is annoying in the end. May I suggest you go easy on the « liquify » tool in Photoshop... Useful video otherwise, thanks.
Good comparison. I was wondering what would be good size for portrait photography and this video answers my questions. Thanks
Great video Francisco.
Well done. Useful info. Nice to see you are having a good time while photographing. LOVE the bloopers! Hope your gear is ok. My only suggestion would be to place the camera settings on the top 1/2 or 1/3. When placed at the bottom, they are partially covered by the UA-cam timeline if you pause the video to look at the settings.
Right to the point.....Great video.....
Loved the video
You rock, man! Cheers!
Thanks, Ilko!
Great video!!! I hope you do more!!
Just put one out yesterday and hopefully another coming tomorrow. =)
Great looking model
Ericka was awesome!
very nice video Franci bro thanks for sharing
Excellent video, thank you!
You're welcome and thanks for watching! =D
I know I'm late watching this video but thanks, your work is fantastic.
Good work, great vid.
Nice guide for purchasing soft box
You gotta love the wind! Its only windy when you have a shoot to do lol!
Great video, very informative, thanks for sharing 🙂
Thanks and you're welcome, Paul. =)
Great video, and beautiful model. One question, what type of speed light were you using? Thanks for sharing.
Awesome comparison. I wanted to ask, where did you get the speedring to mount on the Buff octa to mount to the S-Bracket?
good stuff very informative thanks
No problem! Thanks for watching.
Can you make a video explaining how a smaller / bigger strobe can work with different octobox sizes. For example: An AD200 strobe is working fine with large softbox? Or the larger the softbox, the bigger the strobe has to be?
Very helpful video. Thank you!
You're welcome and thanks for watching!
Love the model!
lol love the micro comment captions in the video. POP!
Great video! Very informative. Funny Captions!
Thank you! =D
Thanks for the videos have been very inspiring and a lot of help for me.
You're welcome =)
