HELLO EVERYONE!!! I'M SHARING A DELICIOUS CHOCOLATE MERINGUE PIE RECIPE THAT I KNOW Y'ALL WILL ENJOY. THIS RECIPE IS GREAT FOR THE UPCOMING HOLIDAYS. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR LOVE AND SUPPORT. HAVE A BLESSED DAY!!!
THE INGREDIENTS ARE:
1 DEEP DISH PIE CRUST (BROWN CRUST FOR 12 MINS. @350 DEGREES)
5 TABLESPOONS OF COCOA POWDER
1 1/2 CUPS OF SUGAR
4 TABLESPOONS OF ALL-PURPOSE FLOUR & 1/2 TEASPOON OF SALT
1 12 OZ. CAN OF EVAPORATED MILK
4 EGG YOLKS
2 TEASPOONS OF PURE VANILLA EXTRACT
1/2 STICK OF BUTTER
COOK FILLING ON MEDIUM HIGH HEAT FOR 10-12 MINS. OR UNTIL THE FILLING THICKENS.

BEAT 4 EGG WHITES AND 2 TABLESPOONS OF SUGAR ON HIGH SPEED
BROWN MERINGUE @350 DEGREES FOR 12 MINS.

My mother in law passed away in 2020. I was not able to get her recipe. I made this for my husband on Thanksgiving and he said it tastes just like his moms. Thank you for sharing this recipe. I am making 3 today for Christmas!

Oh Miss Brenda! You have brought back SO many good memories of my childhood (I’m 65). My Granny (my Dads mom) would make me a Chocolate Meringue pie ( my favorite to this day!) and I remember her taking it from the oven and there would be little balls of browned sugar on the meringue. I do like fruit pies, but they don’t compare to Chocolate. Thanks again for a beautiful memory.

I love all of your recipes because they are always the good old fashioned meals that i grew up on that my grandmother always made for the family. She always made enough so when there were special occasions or if some family members happened to stop by there would be good food on the stove ready to eat. I sure miss those days when all families would get together more because time is so short and life is a blessing and every day we can be with those closest to our hearts is a huge blessing and now the holidays are upon us. oh my goodness Miss Brenda I just ran into you on my UA-cam looking for chocolate pie and found chocolate meringue pie and I thought well I'll get that a shot I'm not much of a chocolate girl but my boyfriend sure loves it so I thought I'd make one for him but I lick the spatula with the chocolate after I put it into the pie there was just a tiny bit left in my pan I lick that clean LOL I will be making more just to have in the fridge to take a bite out of every once in awhile. That pie is looking really delicious and I would love to be making one myself and seeing how it turns out. My mother use to make many pies and cakes and we kids loved them. My grandmother made the most pies and puddings though and it is too bad that I didn't learn more from her on what to cook, but some of the chefs I worked with in the Air Force and that was many recipes and drinks. Hi Shannie. I recommend to let it cool off first for 1 hour at least if you want to cut it.

My meringue sweats. Is it doing that because I store it in fridge? It shrinks too. I want that mile high meringue but it doesnt seem cooked when I make it tall. I just make whipped cream instead. But I love meringue. HELP! Thanks from East Texas.
I’m thinking the reason a pie sweat is that it needs to cool down some before you place it in the refrigerator or you didn’t beat the meringue until it gets fluffy. This pie didn’t sweat at all. Looks like my moms. Your notes says "alert - add 1/2 stick of butter" The recipe already has that item listed. Do you mean to have a whole stick of butter? I don't understand why the "alert"???

Brenda, Can you give me an idea how long the pie has cooled before you put the meringue on? Is it still fairly hot? You don't put the pie in the fridge or anything in between do you?
