I read you can also use the spam container that it came in to do the shape without that little clear box!

It's so much easier to put the spam in the mold, then the rice. Fold over the rice and you can skip the hassle of dabbing water on the ends of the nori.

This is how I do it too! And you only need to press the rice one time.

I lucked out and found that musubi mold at a Good Will in Grand Junction CO. 😹 I was SO HAPPY! It makes it so easy to make perfectly shaped rice balls.

I use sushi rice like how I make onigiri. Is that the right kind of rice? I like to make things as authentic as possible until I get the hang of it then adjust it to me personal tastes. Thank you for your videos!

For spam musubi, it doesn't need sushi rice. Just plain rice. But you can make it however you like 😉

I just made some of these for a Halloween Party, and went all the way. I tried putting some Furikake in the rice at home, it was OK. Tried putting MORE and it was great! Then went all the way (there isn't far to go) with a sheet of egg and the seasoned SPAM, and made it sandwich style with rice on both sides, filling the little press as far as it would go. They were a hit! Everyone agreed that it was like a meal. Everyone ate one and took one for later. I just ate one for breakfast. It sat out all night and was FINE. This video was very encouraging. I think I might be able to make a few of these just for myself without too much trouble, now that I have some experience. Some bachelor chow here: If you use the rice-cooker and have a meal, maybe some of the rice left in the machine can be used while it's still warm. Just pull out the little press. SPAM is already sliced and sitting in a storage container in the fridge... Possibly just fry it to cut down on the mess, I have seen that. Anyway, just make a few and set them aside for the next meal. I think I can do this, it wouldn't increase the dishwashing load really.

When I'm pressed for time I use bottled teriyaki sauce, but Huli Huli sounds even better! Yum! 🤤
