  • A short documentary about what makes Moldova such an interesting place. From the breakaway region of Transdnistria, 'Gypsy Hill' in the north or Lou Bega performing at a festival, Moldova and its history are fascinating. Filmed on location during September 2017.

    Thank you Alex, that was a very interesting video. One thing that struck me whilst watching your video was how clean the streets are. I was just in the UK, specifically South Wales and the amount of trash on the sides of the roads and in the countryside was staggering. It's obvious the people and kids of Wales just don't care about their country and have total disregard for their environment. The people of Moldova may be poor but at least they have self respect and respect for their environment.

Moldova is in Europe and people still go hungry there, the corruption is to be felt everywhere and the upkeep is not done as it should be. @nonaufascisme Funny, one of the biggest providers, really? Moldova is such a tiny country, it's impossible to be like this. I live in Moldova and I havent seen such thing. In Moldova usually they have values and parents are very strict with children. Some girls go as prostitutes, but they come from vulnerable families, no education. The country is not that poor, you should live there for some time, and then put out the conclusions

And how is Covid being handled? I was shocked to see that in Lithuania you need to have an opportunity pass to take part in every day life. Something that is happening in Western Europe too. But the more dependant Moldava becomes of the EU the more EU rules. I saw some government video's that gave me the creeps. Seemed like Moldava will no longer be such an independant and beautiful country where you can live freely in the non-rural areas. Very interested in what's life really like over there. Would love to travel to experience it myself but crossing borders is getting difficult when you're not vaccinated.

    • @Lafayette19P
      @Lafayette19P 2 роки тому

      @@kxenia7852 No I'm not from Lithuania. But I saw video's on Twitter and later on BBC News from a guy who lives in Lithuania (keep forgetting his name unfortunately) where he cried out to the world about the situation there: he and his wife and children being unvaccinated couldn't take part in normal life. Everywhere (work, bigger supermarkets, etc) there was hyper modern entrance machines to scan your QR-code. And guards to watch over people coming into buildings. To be able to work you needed to test 3 times a week and the cost of that was practically what he and his wife earned in a month. Only BBC picked up on this. Rest of Western Media never showed this.
      At the time I followed a lot of EU parliament news. At this time I know my country (Netherlands) is still heavily investing in an European Digital Covid Certificate. I know an European parlementaire from Rumania spoke out against it: that Europe will become China 2.0 this way. 4 months ago the situation was my daughter and son in law, and myself had interest in traveling for a long time to a country like Moldova or Ukraine and Poland to find out if it's still possible to live quietly and kind of "of grid". What happened in our country and most of Europe is getting a bit scary. So I searched for a bit of political history on Moldova and Maya Sandu is very pro-European. And EU is doing all the World Economic Forum wants. New Wold Order. Global top down government. Their message is packed nicely but the real intententions I'm not very sure off. Everybody thinks of Western Europe like it's a democracy bit it isn't. We have so much corruption in our politics (and changes in constitutional laws without the public knowing about it) and there is even less freedom of press/speech as in in Russia. Which changed everything because now it's war. Ukraïne destroyed, I heard that the aim is to invade Moldova, maybe via Transnistria. The world is in chaos right now and I bet Covid regulations and Covid passes, later to be turned in CO2-passes, Digital currency only, cash being fased out? China like system. And these are not rumors... it's all to find on our local and European official websites. But not many people take the effort to look at that and think it's all progess. Farmers are disowned of their land (while we are the world's second biggest exporting country in meat and dairy), there is no longer the opportunity to pay cash from a certain amount (amount you buy a second hand car), we're still living under an emergency law while 89% of the people above 12 are vaccinated and Covid hasn't cost more lives than in a bad flue season, meanwhile public life was totally closed, we have had an evening curfew for months which reminded us of WW2, 5 months ago my children kind of illegally drove to Poland to celebrate New years eve because our country was in lockdown for no reason at all.. to find out that you could move and live and party freely over there.. it was like you lived the freedom of 2 decades ago. Oh and now I remember the initial government video's of Moldova that gave me the creeps. Moldovan government has it's own UA-cam Channel where they show commercial like video's where they praise the EU, showing Europarlementariërs giving a concert playing the European Anthem. Video's where they show that work or economics have improved by little gifts by EU. EU is expanding and expanding, everybody wants to join. And all want to become a member of NATO. Which had surrounded Russia with military equipment over the last few years and Ukraïnes president Zelensky and the bloody Maydan revolution was heavily influenced by USA and EU. This awful war was no sudden move by Putin.. I think leftist Europe an leftist USA have been planning this for decades. Left wing politicians are the new fascists. Wolves dressed up in clothes sheep's. We take in Ukranian refugees and while we have such a shortage of living space and unaffordable too that you need to wait 12 years to get housing in a ghetto (!!!), houses that become available Ukrainian refugees get a house immediately. And free Healthcare and transport, even free haircuts, no parking tickets, and they are allowed to work everywhere. While we have refugee centers with refugees from others countries where people stay for years in terrible unhumanitary conditions and don't get these chances or are being deported after years of waiting. This all seems very suspicious to me.

    You did a great job of proving your thesis: that Moldova is, indeed, an interesting place. You don't sugar coat it. I've been there twice and quite enjoyed my visits, and your video packs a dense, complex history into a comprehensible, well-designed 13 minutes.

    I had a girlfriend from Moldova, she was able to come to visit me in the US. In some ways, she did not know how amazing the US is, for her as she was telling me, her country was a massive SHIT. I hope she is better and happy and some of the many things have change for the better.

    All I can say: They (Moldovan, Transdnistrian or whoever they like to be called) are among the most hospitable nations on the earth and this seems to be a Mecca of truism. This is my next travel destination! Only one question: What about the language barrier and how to communicate once there? as I am sure there are not any formal tours to book and see the place.

      You are right if you talk abut England, France, Spain, etc but most people in Moldova do not pay taxes or very little because they do not handle a lot of money to make a living.

      @@andreinastase1235 There's still tax revenue. And you need certain modern day things like medicine. Getting treatment using 1970s Soviet technology sounds horrible.

    • @andreinastase1235
      @andreinastase1235 5 років тому +3

      Dude, medicine is NOT a modern day. More like the modern day medicine kills people or makes them sick. Tax revenue comes from purchases and corporations and so on. In the country side is different. Did you ever know that the first Satellite TV station was Soviet? Have any idea what the word "soviet" means?

    • @infiltr80r
      @infiltr80r 5 років тому +1

      @@andreinastase1235 I've been in a hospital for surgery in Soviet era hospitals in the early 90s and now in modern day upgraded ones in 2009 - the difference is night and day.
      Tax revenue comes from many things - VAT, corp tax, income tax etc.
      If you think 1970s Soviet era medical treatments are on par with 2019 worldwide western standards, you don't know anything about medicine.

    Went to grad school with a Moldovan gal in the mid-90s. Talking to her, I noted that her last name was Russian, not Romanian. She said she was indeed ethnic Russian. I asked if the issues with the fall of the USSR and Transnistria made things a bit tense for them. She said very much so. They traveled in groups and took precautions for their security.

      The U.S. has a strange and prudish hang up about normal male swimming costumes. Who wants all that nasty wet material flapping around your thighs? To me it looks so cliche, bad taste and reminiscent of the 1920's.
