As an owner of the RP-15M, I strongly suggest investigating the issues with Klipsch powered speakers. The internal amps have lots of failures, and if you intend to keep your speakers for many years, buy unpowered speakers and use an external amp. The internal boards are covered with epoxy and goop that make them almost impossible to repair.

Haven’t heard the JBLs. I own 1st gen Klipsch. Take the drivers out and line the inner cabinet with sound deadening and 1inch foam. Huge upgrade. Bigger tighter bass, and all around cleaner sound. Amazon have them for $275. Unbeatable value after the upgrade.

I had the JBL's. In person, the horn coloration is very prominent. They sound more like a small PA speaker than fidelity.

The JBL speakers definitely sound more realistic. They probably sound very close to the Elac Debut Reference 6.2 which is also - guess what - sold at the same price, $699 at Crutchfield. Thanks for the video.

I've always been a JBL fan (going back to the early 80's) and my best friend is a die hard Klipsch fan. Both companies have always been winners, but in my opinion JBL has always beat out Klipsch by a slight margin when comparing competing products

My problem with your soundclips - 1. You should have removed the unused speaker. 2. You should have displayed on screen which video is playing.

JBL sounds way better.... Klipsch sounds tinny, JBL has more detail, more meat and a wider soundstage

Great new channel nice work . I agree and I dont think its really that close in my opinion the jbl at current discounts I believe is a best buy depending on the color. I have tried most of the usual suspects in the 3-700 dollar range and those are some of my favorites. I have not heard the 12.2 (225 I have) or the magnat 503s probably the only two in this range. Thar bamar and erins audio corner did reviews both positive overall. I think when people glance at erins review they dont listen to the whole review he was mostly saying they were inferior to the hdi series and those are 2000 or were a pair.

Great review. Btw is it possible that one day you review Insignia bookshelf speakers, I’m kind of curious to wonder if it’s worth it or not since I don’t see many review videos talk about it or go into more depth about it. That would be nice to see.

The JBL has too much horn coloration. I used them both nearfield and standard listening. They never sounded like a neutral or coherent sound source. More like a cheap PA speaker with the cupped hands effect. I had some, and got rid of them.
I'm pretty sure klipsch made it clear that the woofers are aluminum with a ceramic coating. Never saw any reference to being the metal copper. The 500MII are better speakers than the 600MII in terms of everything except bass. That's what subs are for.

…..I, at this point, don’t particularly care for either one. The Klipsch, imo can only be tamed by tube amplification, its heightened sensitivity has it screaming almost all the time. The quality at these inflationary times is woefully unbalanced away from consumers, to the point where I know building my own and going bi-amp/electronic crossover will get me the high-end performance I know I really want. For example, Paradigm Persona B, but nowhere near $8 grand.

klipsch being shouty nasal shrill as always. i know, i have a pair of rb 61ii. i dont really like for music.. using some paradigms and monitor audio now

My own experience with klipsch speakers is that they are revealing of amps and sources, even as they are not neutral.

100% you do you! For me though, sitting with them both hooked up to the same receiver switching back and fourth between the two I like the JBL sound better. I do admit the Klipsch is easier to drive because of their higher efficiency.

  • @DrNoahBoddy004

I have very defining demands on treble, and midrange performance being specifically tube powered in light of such poor present day recording, and mastering. Levels and compression are beyond stupid, and there’s way too much darn screaming going on into those poor microphones. Present-day music is, for lack of a better word, complete horse-💩. Sad, but unfortunately true.

Most music I have heard in the past 20 years has MAYBE 3db of DR. So much overproduced and autotuned robotic/vanilla dreck. It's the opposite of what Alan Parsons and other giants of the past achieved.

I thought personally they were over hyped at 300-350 a good choice above that to much. I had a pair of definitive demand 11 and thought those were also much better.

@@MasterofPlay7 the 630 at 330 are one of the best bookshelf your gonna get there. They are much better then the rp-600m and triangle borea 3. There a nice alternative to the Polk r200. At 700 too much competition but at 330 there a steal even at 450-500 there competitive there wasn't to much info on em here in the states.

Still love my JBL towers from 1981 (they were $500 at the time).

Why are you missleading? RP600 is NOT a HORN!! It is a wave guide. Please do check it out what is a design and characteristic of a proper horn.

Does it matter if the OVERALL sound is better on the JBL's? Btw the RP-600M II feature a hybrid tractrix horn.
