So... in making DreamWorks to get back at Disney, he ended up saving Pixar which ended up helping Disney... Now that's truely ironic. XD
Again, my theory doesn't have the strongest foundation but the drama between Eiser and Katzenberg was the start of Eisner's decline as a CEO. He was pretty good the first few years but then things got ugly at the end
Saberspark I also recall that Eisner desperately bought the Muppets from the Jim Henson Company to keep his job. Didn't work.
Disney and Pixar have bugs life and finding nemo while DreamWorks has Antz and sharktale and DreamWorks shrek is their version of all the classic Disney movies combined into one movie.
It’s a pr... I mean noob gamer move.
Can I just say kudos for not going for easy clickbait? You could've very easily gone with a title like "DREAMWORKS SAVED PIXAR?!!" due to your theory that took up a mere few minutes of the video, but you kept things short, sweet and sincere. I admire that honesty.
Someone understands me! This is why I love this channel.
Yea hes very honest
Yeah agreed
I have a joke
*Cars 2.*
funny joke.
Mr. ShinyHunter AHAHAHAHA!! GOOD ONE!
Mr. ShinyHunter

Mr. ShinyHunter at 21:55 he used footage from a cars rip off.
Mr. ShinyHunter Burn!
I always wondered why all of a sudden Disney started to make good 3d movies without the help of Pixar..... now I know that in reality... they never did, HAH!
Bad bait and followup. Rehears your roast kid.

Sam Dragonborn what does imo mean
Coolguy phantom "in my opinion"
Sam Dragonborn DIM?
Sam Dragonborn and it’s hard to watch now considering recent news
fun fact:toy story was originally named ,,toyz in the hood"
Huh, I researched your poorly constructed comment and it is actually true! Kind of cool..
100 subscribers with no videos? It was originally also gonna be called "you Are a toy"
100 subscribers with no videos? It was also originally going to be a TV Christmas special based off of an earlier short called Tin Toy.
I’m so glad that they never called it that lmao
No, it was actually going to be called *"toy"*
I can't believe it started at Lucasfilm
@@yoda908 If lucas wouldn't have revolutionized cinema in that case another director surely could have did the same, and then just another brilliant guy would came up with animation films, simple as that
Jared Escoto Lucas broke from the norm of a complacent music industry and used his independence to invest in new tech to enhance the movie going experience. The tech would’ve come along eventually, yes, but Lucas’ investment sped it up by a decade or so.
He did revolutionise cinema.
@@thejfoshow1320 If you remember well, Star Trek series brought the same idea and the same VFX tecnhology just right in the 1966, Lucas knew before no one in Hollywood the potential of that kind of concept. He only simplified the formula and made 2 hours of what Star trek budget divides around 10 episodes, that's the power of identifying tech tendencies:)
Everything does.

My animation teacher is playing this as our lesson for today
Good for you guys!
Omg, the Cars 2 "clip"
I Find It Funny That You Uploaded This On The Exact Day That Ratatouille Is Celebrating It's 10th Anniversary. Was That a Coincidence??
Cartridge Cat it was probably intentional!
Cartridge Cat wow for a 10 year old movie its animation holds up extremely well I would have thought it came out in 2012
11th year
Coincidence? I THINK NOT!!
Cars 3 is actually good.
Oscar Tobar yep and it was Amazing!
It's not shit it's just crap
It was good but not up to Pixar's usual works
Your welcome for letting me comment on your videos when he said no shit, he meant no kidding, as in it's obvious
Oscar Tobar cars 3 was trash
"Art challenges technology and technology inspires the art"
Wow. That one is going to stick with me. Thanks you for this amazing video.
My animation teacher used this video as an introduction to animation techniques, and I have never been more excited to learn🤣🙌 Love your videos!♥️
UA-cam's best channel on animation imo
[Untitled] scratch that it's history of cartoon entertainment
Totally!
Rivaling RebelTaxi as my favorite animation history channel.
mushroomdude123 Agreed!
[Untitled] mine is a guy called animat. he's not too known, but has many animation retrospective that he calls "animation lookback ". he actually did one on Pixar too, and it has hours of information!

This is my name hey where can I find the Pixar story if you so kindly can tell me
Sean McGarry amazon probably has it
hi saber i like your channel keep up the good work
I actually started dying when you added in that GTA clip LOL
Not to mention Lasseter is friends with Hayao Miyasaki, one of (if not the most) influential anime director in Japan, but also famous for been hard to please, yet he is buddy-buddy with him. If that doesn't show how much of a artist he is, I don't know what does.
to infinity... AND BEYOND!
Cars 3 was the best fidget spinner anime ever.
Animated
I had spent my entire childhood growing up on Pixar ever since first watching _Toy Story_ on VHS, and so during my teenage years (age 13-18), 2006-2011 was a crazy period of Pixar for me in cinema (my *"Pixar Era"* as I call it), having seen _Cars, Ratatouille, WALL-E, Up, Toy Story 3,_ and _Cars 2_ in cinema. All of them were great to see with my Pops at that time. We both *_loved_*_ WALL-E, Up_ and _Toy Story 3_ when we first saw them. I'll never forget those times.
17:36 tell Cartoon Network that!
IDK Saber, this is what you should do more often...
Personally, I adore these history lessons on animation
Please remember that the rise of Pixar did leave behind some casualties. Because of Pixar's success, everyone thought that 2D wasn't the way to go anymore. That's why Hotel Transylvania is CGI instead of Gennedy's usual work, which is 2D Animation. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic's theatrical film may as well be a last hurrah of pure irony.
GaiaX5 Have you seen RebelTaxi's video about Rugrats causing 2D animation to lose popularity? I found it pretty interesting.
What about Teen Titans Go
14:35 That concept art is really cute. I absolutely love how stretchy and expressive the characters look. I would have loved and kinda preferred a 2d Toy Story. I loved Toy Story as a kid, but I kinda love and loved 2d animation a lot more. 3d animation definitely inspires me for certain things. Like I feel something that inspires me in my art is how certain -ok whatever, I’m rambling. P.S. Gendy tartakovsky is cool, and he kinda inspires me a little.
Yall need to chill on that Cars 2 shade. That wasn't even a bad movie; it just focused more on a side character. We've seen that many times before in media, including Finding Dory.
MarioSinglePlayer I think people mostly dislike it because it's very flawed, not because it's focused on a sidekick.
It wasn't a horrible movie, but definitely didn't do any of the characters justice. Focusing on a sidekick was not the problem, rather just the poor quality. I think it could have been done a lot better.
Pixar used to have the best animated movies until cars 2.
Thank you!
We don't mind side-kicks. In fact they are often our favorite characters! It was the writing of the movie that was an issue. Yes it had potential, with the international racing idea, but in the end they struggled with the writing. Like the whole Mater 'Japanese toilet' scene...utter trash. The humor was not well written. I honestly think it was the whole agent thing that threw them off. Plus they deviated too much from Cars' original theme. They went too dark and . I personally don't mind dark themes and Pixar certainly does it well, but that's not what Cars is. But everyone has their mistakes to learn from and Cars 2 was Pixar's. Oh wait never mind. Planes was another mistake lol 😂
Pixar came through and are again creating high-quality films.
Great footage used for Cars 2
Still a better movie than Cars 2.
+Pixxilutia No it's not. Jus-just no. Nope. You don't even know how bad that movie is. So... just don't. No.
ImJaoquínTheDog i know, i know
I thought I was going crazy.
The HD touch up is definitely showing
I just watched Cars 3 yesterday and it was definitely better than both the first and second movies.
Who is excited for The Incredibles 2?

Biggest mistake!
Landon Legate we all know what it is....
Did I see A Car's Life when you said Cars 2
Oh my god....when John was talking about when he got fired from Disney, It dawned on me how horrible that must of felt. In my soul, I could feel how his heart sank, although I know that it must have been ten times worse. Man, what an awful feeling that must've been..
Wow,i never knew that Disney and Pixar hated each other once😆lol.Great video👍.i learned alot from it🤓.
Do What's Ruining Sony Pictures Animation.
Landon Legate Dude, stop spamming this.
Cars 2
IS THAT A CARS LIFE (or whatevs)
Drypzy LMAO I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY PNE WHO SAW THAT
I use to love Toys story as a child. I have to say that now that I am older, 3 might be my favorite
So when I was little, I refused to watch Toy Story 1 but watched Toy Story 2 at least 2 times a day. Also I never cried once while watching it because 3 year old me was soulless.
Plushimations there's nothing sad in toy story 2
+Travenzen Jesse's song
"When somebody loved me"
(Drops Mic)
MazingerDestroXtreme 3 is my fave too. I think the charcters really come together and the villain is unexpected and 3 dimensional
God this freaking inspired me! I love hearing about this kind of stuff, how people succeed through impossible challenges!
any SuperCarlinBrothers fans here?
It's nice to see someone (besides me) appreciate Pixar's achievement in animation. Great video!
You should narrate documentaries.
Sorry, but Pixar started going downhill since Cars 2. Some hits here and there, but now they're suffering from sequelitis

I wonder if they could remaster the first Toy Story. Just a thought.

I love The Pixar Story. Thanks for the video Saberspark and I must say I'm touched.
I still remember my very first time watching _Toy Story_ on the VHS when I was at least like 4/5/6 yrs old, and it was amazing to watch, and it was my first Pixar movie. I've seen _Toy Story 2_ and _3_ in cinemas, too. But I think my #1 all-time personal favorite Pixar movie possibly has to be _WALL-E,_ it was (and still is ten yrs later) an amazing sci-fi about a child-like robot falling in love, I'll still love that movie even in death. But yea, Pixar has had a very successful track record, and am now excited for the upcoming _Incredibles 2,_ took their damn time! ;D
funny, at 21:55 you used footage from a cars rip off for cars 2.
Joey M I'm sure that was intentional. XD
probably because cars 2 was a ripoff from what was cars
That's the joke
Yeah, you can tell that he REALLY hated Cars 2
*Quality Storytelling

The Pixar story is now on UA-cam for $3:99
Beautiful video Saberspark. Looking forward to see more from you real soon. I want to eventually see one of Pixar in this detail or even some forgotten animation studios or even one about Waldo Rabbit aka Walt's original Mickey before Mickey Mouse.
The first movie from Pixar I watched was I think Cars, I also found myself watching Inside Out, I watch those 2 movies and I LOVED it, I also watched Cars 2, don’t get mad, but I liked it as well.
Zootropolis/Zootopia and Inside Out are my two favourite animated features of all time. Well done, Lassanter. You are such a fantastically creative person. :)
That's Walt Disney Animation Studios.
I love Disney/Pixar! The movie that started all my passion for animation is, *Wall-E* It was a best Pixar movie I ever seen in my life. Because of the animation and the plot is so impressive. I would work for Pixar one day.
This movie is my love for animation and computer altogether. And soon later, I begin to knew Walt Disney, founder of Disney. Also I owned Creativity Inc, it is my favorite book now. I keep following my dreams forever.
Dude I really love how much effort you put into these videos every , time you upload a video, I'm always looking forward to watching them :) thank you saber
I don’t care who is better Pixar or Disney animation, they BOTH make amazing movies!
I always wonder what this amazing studio will come up with next. They have made films about toys, monsters, vehicles, robots, insects and marine life. I'm excited to see the creativity Pixar creates
6:24 "Steve was involved with the rise of the Apple computer."
No kidding. XD
The erratic stretched and squashed clips is driving me insane. Still, great video as always.
Dash Not much that can be done when you have so many videos of different formats and aspect ratios.
Lasseter > Katzenberg
In hindsight Disney sort of got its wish
Toy Story 3 hell even some scenes in Toy Story 2 much more edgier then anything that ever happened in Toy Story 1 and we're talking about a movie about a tyrannical 13 year old boy who destroys toys.
heck, just take a moment and think about the incinerator scene
Yyasemin Ssabanci I can't believe Steven Spielberg made DreamWorks animation
Mihane Sabyake lmao. This aged well.
You deserve way more subs than you have. I've been watching since Ballad of the Brony and you've done nothing but improve over time. Your wording and manner of speaking makes every single video you make incredibly enjoyable. I learn so much every time.
Thank you so very much for watching! :D
Saberspark Thank you for making such amazing content! ❤
am i the only one who liked cars 2?
Devin Jamison I grew up liking it
I thought it was just okay, but bad by Pixar standards
Devin Jamison No, I did. I like the spy sub story and the racing.
I thought it was good but very very trashy in Pixar’s standards
Cars 2 is my favorite Cars movie

Pixar is the studio that has creative movies
The Pixar Story. One of my favorite Documentaries of all time! Also I'm going to D23 Expo to the animation panel this year and see the upcoming Disney and Pixar films!
DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE was the highest-grossing film of 1995 worldwide. It grossed $366 million in total. TOY STORY's initial worldwide gross was $350 million, which makes it third on the list, after APOLLO 13 ($353 million). It only achieved its $373 million gross after a 3D reissue in 2009. However, it was the highest-grossing film domestically and the highest-grossing animated film of 1995.
As for 1998, ARMAGEDDON ($553 million) was the highest-grossing film that year worldwide; SAVING PRIVATE RYAN ($216 million) was the highest-grossing domestically. A BUG'S LIFE was #5 worldwide ($363 million) and #4 domestically ($162 million). It was, however, the highest-grossing animated film that year.
Working at Disney and hearing this story makes me very proud of the company and the people I work with. It also warms my heart to see people looking ke mr.lasiter is still keeping uncle walts dream alive in so many new and exciting ways.
I have one suggestion for a History of, that has been largely ignored, how about Nelvana? The Canadian animation company, that brought The Raccoons, the Star Wars, Ewoks and droids Adventure Hour, Hey arthur, The Magic School Bus, Delta State, and a whole bunch more.
I hope you serious consider discussing some Canadian contributions in the animation industry, since Canada has the world renowned animation college, Sheridan, that many studios owe great thanks too.
Take care as always, and great success to you.
These history of videos are amazing!!! thank you so much for putting all the jumbled history straight in a well thought out beautiful manner! you are a wonderful story teller and seeing these are a wonderful inspiration to possible future animators! 💕
That was a very informative history on one of my favorite animation companies. God bless the people at Pixar for their movies like "Toy Story," and for helping Disney get back on track.
history of Disney please
A great analysis on Pixar. It reminds me of how Naughty Dog came to be a legendary developer.
To put it briefly, Naughty Dog also had a rough financial start, but through Universal Studios they could work on a new project. This new ambitious project would eventually became known as Crash Bandicoot. With many technological advancements to have supperb animation on top of solid gameplay, Naughty Dog created a successful hit while taking a big risk. Later on, after creating the other two games from their contract with Universal, they were able to create Crash Team Racing, and that game was distributed as a suprise fourth and final Crash Bandicoot game that was developed by Naughty Dog.
Later on, ND worked with Sony to produce another hit franchise for the PS2, Jak and Daxter. Their trend of hit games would eventually go to Uncharted and The Last of Us. I would go into great detail, but I'm trying to keep things simple for now. Naughty Dog now represents to gaming what Pixar is to animation. Even if the company hasn't produced as much different stories, ND has certainly made a mark, and helped make Sony Computer Entertainment into what it is today, which has games that still rival Nintendo.
This is an amazing documentary. You produce some really amazing content. It would be pretty cool if you did an analysis of Cars 2 explaining why it's bad. It's like the Nickelback of Pixar films. I agree that it's bad, but I just love how you explain things.
Was in kinda a bad mood until I saw this and felt better UwU So thanks saber! :D
21:53... I looked down at my phone after grinding in skyrim and see this... Thank you SaberSpark
I like how pixar makes amazing movies and great video dude :]
That scene with Woody and Micky Mouse fighting was funny
Who here wants Saberspark too crossover with Animat.
Hold on a sec. gonna watch this then reply with my thoughts.
Edit: yeah. I agree with most stuff here. and even though the theory about saving the company may not be true, I feel that it definitely had an impact on Pixar. nice video as always Saber.
I'mma check your older videos, this is impressive!
*looks back*
Wait, you're a brony?
Nice Video I love all your videos
Great video! Looking forward to the next one :)
16:44 I need those mods
Too bad they weren’t the first company to be teased on home video in 3D animation that was Big Idea Production aka Veggietales
10:35 I accidentally watched the black friday in the special edition as a small kid, thanks for the psychological scars disney! :)
It's funny that this studio has been there my entire life for me, starting with Toy Story I've watched every single film (except the Plane movies) and just . . . Get lost in their world and characters. With Disney I watched the tapes a million times but they were one of the first I watched their dvds a million times
I really hope we get some Pixar worlds in Kingdom Hearts III
I feel like this video was too short! Could have gone into a lot more depth with each individual film!
The video would be 10 hours long.
"The only reason to do computer animation is if it makes it faster or cheaper"
then he fires Lasseter
How can Ed Hansen be this based. A true hero really
