@The Bengalee Sceptic in traditional heroic literature, which aquaman fits into, the key difference between a hero and a villain is having mercy. The hero is suppose to rise above common sensebilities such as yours and do what's right. Because without it there is only contempt and anger at each side and very little distinguishing who's good and who is bad. This scene is a classic example. The father may not have deserved to be saved, but by doing so, Arthur could have prevented the creation of another villain. By not saving him he created a new cycle of hatred which resulted in far more death and destruction.

Manta's reason for initially attacking was because Arthur interrupted their attempt to commandeer the submarine. Arthur is known by everyone, but Manta did not know he was impervious to their weapons. He did not fear him until his blade failed to pierce Arthur's skin.
I miss Black Manta from the 60s: he was a mad lad, instead of poor reasoning, he had no reasoning. He never explained why he hated Aquaman and wanted to kill him so much, but he also had plans to move all of the black people in the world into Atlantis, for some reason... ...And he used to run around with genetically-modified "Manta Men" who were basically Manta rays with a pair of human legs and they were completely useless in battle but he had armies of them anyway and he'd just send them to kill Aquaman but they were as equally useless in the ocean as they were on land. Not even mentioning Black Manta in one of the more recent comics where he set up a fish and chip shop and retired from villainy but then heard Aquaman was still alive and immediately burnt his shop down and started hunting him again.
You know what? Kevin Feige of Marvel and Geoff Johns of DC are fans of each other's work (and old friends to boot). Marvel and DC are only rivals in the corporate sense. Beyond that, not so much. It's only among the fans that you get the angry rivalry. Heck, even then it's just the really extreme fans; most real fans will either love them both or just love one but still be able to appreciate the other.
Actors in both Marvel and DC have shown respect and fondness for eachother. Brie Larson said repeatedly on the Captain Marvel press tour that her favourite superhero was Wonder Woman. There's a video of Chris Evans joking with Chris Pine. While competitors, they're not a toxic rivalry - that's only the fans. There's nothing wrong with a little healthy competition.

1.) Manta's dad blasts Aquaman with an exploding bullet that throws him across the room 2.) Made to look like it's a big deal and Manta and his father silently celebrate 3.) Aquaman shakes it off with an, "ow!" My favourite part of this clip!
Fun Fact: Aquaman says before he throw the bar to impale dad's Manta: "Ana Tu Kai" that it means something like "You got what you deserve" in Maori i saw this in a comment in other video scene like this. A guy says he is a maori, and explained the speak. Correct me if im wrong.
I remember watching this and in terms of favorite heroes for me Aquaman wasn’t even crackin my top 50 List but after seeing this beauty of a movie he’s definitely in my top 5
Daniel Haire Aquaman legit stated in the movie that he made the wrong call and that he should have saved his father. That was the whole reason he spared Orm at the end of the movie.
Logan Williams - I believe the words forgiveness, mercy, and redemption were created for such scenarios. Everyone has done things in the past that we aren’t proud of, however it is what we do in the present that defines our character. Aquaman at that very moment became the villain as he just let two people supposedly die. That’s not very honourable or valorous, he made a enemy for life where he could have made an ally. Later Aquaman even contemplates the ethics in that action after he realized that the son not only survived but was hunting him for vengeance, Aquaman was remorseful that he did what he did and it demonstrates his character growth. Black Mantha also needs to repent his actions and take responsibility but that is something he is not capable of yet, he is blinded by is own rage to see the fallacy of his own judgment. This is where Aquaman really separates himself contrasted to his antagonistic counterparts, even though you can empathize with their positions, they never supersede their own hate for understanding what that hate was geared towards and how Aquaman overcomes it truly is what makes him a hero.
@@user-vr5zk9ox8d no he didn't become the villain. They attacked him multiple times. They are the bad guys. It's called consequences, and they come whether you like it or not. Not to mention he gave manta's dumbass dad a chance and he still fired ANOTHER 40mm grenade at him.
One big unstable boi - Well, the whole point of empathy is to attempt to see another individual’s point of view. How would you feel if someone killed your father? I’m sure it wouldn’t feel good (supposing you have one), or even a father figure. For most people it’s devastating to watch them die in front of you with no control. Also, keep in mind that the life he lived is what he was born into. It challenges the entire theme of nurture versus nature and how the human condition correspondingly reacts to it in the situation. It was a path set out for him by his father as piracy was probably their only escape from whatever third world country they were from. Watch the movie “Captain Phillips” and you will understand. Another point I would like to bring up is that an antagonist does Not need to evil, or the “bad guy” to be a villain. As that was a belief someone else brought up. Proof of this can be seen in internal struggles, such as addiction, or even environmental conflicts, or just hostile environments. As long as there are no “bad guys” this trope applies. Another example are “fallen heroes.” The title character from the play “Macbeth” is a fallen hero. Another popular hero that ascends to the dark side is Anakin Skywalker from the Star Wars franchise who turns from Jedi to Sith. A supporting protagonist can become an antagonist by betraying a main protagonist. There are also antagonists that could be argued to be the “good guy.” A perfect example is Emily Brontë’s Heathcliff. You really empathize with his position because you understand what he has gone through and why he takes his quest of vengeance. However, it is also inferred, as Confucius once said, “Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves.” This equally applies to Manta.

Witchlet Eos tf does “your asses seep for mercy” mean

I swear if that was Batman, he would 100% tryna save both of them 😂
Obo if that was Batman, he’d get blown to pieces by grenade launcher
@Wesker JHG He can't dodge a grenade in a SUBMARINE.
@andree tuncab There is 0.00001 % chance of Batman being in a submarine

@@JaceTimes Batman would have known about the father ahead of time and dealt with him first as the weakest link.
I love how Aquaman slings that torpedo into Black Manta's face and it was a mere head trauma, but they couldn't lift it. If Black Manta were really smacked with that at that speed he'd be dead af. Or at least a vegetable.
he can't have a brain injury or brain damage without having a brain to begin with.
they're brain damaged already

Yeah, and Atlantis doesn’t exist. Suspend your disbelief.

"Save my dad that now is dying because he tried to kill you!"
- Logic deluxe
At least he tried
DC movie logic........ I’m not a Marvel fanboy but the only thing I didn’t like about this movie was Black Manta’s story and his orange suit. His orange suit looks too cartoony.
@Corvo@AZ Yeah, aquaman COULD have made some allies there, but he made an enemy :P
@@dancingmadman2340 i love dc but i agree on the suit, he looks more like a mosquito than what he was potraying as
@@dancingmadman2340 Orange suit? Black and Red, you mean?

Its even better lol
the fact that hes unbothered is pretty badass if you ask me

that ow was extremely badass 😂
1.) Manta's dad blasts Aquaman with an exploding bullet that throws him across the room
2.) Made to look like it's a big deal and Manta and his father silently celebrate
3.) Aquaman shakes it off with an, "ow!"
My favourite part of this clip!
It's a grenade, not a bullet.
40mm grenade.
My favorite part was the kid expecting aquaman to help after they tried to kill him.

You killed innocent people, you ask the sea for mercy.
The action of this movie was on point. Exactly how it is in the comic books. Very well-filmed.

Fun Fact: Aquaman says before he throw the bar to impale dad's Manta: "Ana Tu Kai" that it means something like "You got what you deserve" in Maori
i saw this in a comment in other video scene like this. A guy says he is a maori, and explained the speak. Correct me if im wrong.
How interesting would it be if i tell you that the first word is also my name !?!?! 🤷♀️😅

Finally, a hero who doesn't sacrifice the innocent to save a villain in hopes of redeeming him.
Daniel Haire and for that reason now he has Black Manta as an arch enemy
@@iamatn3317 Doesn't change the fact that it was the right call as it allowed Aquaman to save the sailor.
Daniel Haire Aquaman legit stated in the movie that he made the wrong call and that he should have saved his father. That was the whole reason he spared Orm at the end of the movie.
Absolutely. I was sick and tired of the whole thing 'no kill' rule bullshit😊
Poulsen Jackson tell Batman that.
Help us after we tried to kill you..... 😂😂😂 yeah right bro
3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197169399370 I really don’t care. They wouldn’t have became allies that never happens.
Quick, quick, quick, let's go
