    If I were Tesla I'd be pretty honored that basically another company that looked at the same problem basically validated (and copied!) every Tesla solution. It just confirms that Tesla engineers are top notch, and that even their tradition-breaking decisions (like the single seat) make sense. Every company like Windrose means that we all have to breathe a bit less diesel exhaust, and I'm here for it. I wish them good luck.

    Rear view cameras, instead of mirrors, are allowed in the USA... and they're available as factory original equipment. While FMVSS 111 (“Rear Visibility") requires mirrors, at least five suppliers of rear-view camera systems have been granted exemptions by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
    allowing them to be used instead of mirrors.

    Very interesting proof of Tesla concept. I read that the founder Wen Han graduated from Stanford and has raised over $110 million in funding. The plan appears to be to assemble in China, Belgium and the USA. So, a very complicated parts supply to coordinate and at least 3 big factories to get off the ground. Good luck with that! Then they will need $3 or $4 billion more in cashflow to get to breakeven.

    How many aerodynamic shapes exist for a puller? Nose must go down as close as possible to the road, glass must be wide and high (love the x and CT for that), Visibility 360 degrees, comfortable seating for up to 13 hours, emergency toilet and as an option a living space including a bed, fridge and other amnesties for long hauls.

      @Schinkeldink Місяць тому

      @@JensSchraeder well, you could argue that's quite a bad thing. In Europe we have legislation that actually protects workers and mandates how long they can drive before they have to rest.
      - 9 hours per day (and twice a week up to 10 hours per day)
      - 56 hours per week (maximum 90 hours per two weeks)
      - exceptionally one hour longer to reach your home or company when you start a weekly rest period (or two hours more to start a regular weekly rest period)
      Remember that working time includes all road transport activities, such as:
      - driving
      - loading and unloading assisting passengers in getting on and off the vehicle
      - cleaning and technical maintenance
      - monitoring of loading and unloading of goods, administrative formalities.
      you must take a break or at least rest:
      - 45 minutes for every 4 hours and 30 minutes of driving time (which may be taken as two breaks of 15 and 30 minutes)
      - 11 hours of rest for every 24 hours of service, which may be split into two rest periods (of first 3 and then 9 hours for a total of 12 hours).
      this creates at the same time lots of room for EVs and charging. How far can you drive in 4,5 hrs?, with a speed limit of 90 km/h that's about 400km maximum, so you only need to be able to recharge that amount of kilometres in the 45 min., boom with MCS you have a fully fletched truck that has the same capabilities as it's ICE counterparts.

    • @Carl_in_AZ
      @Carl_in_AZ Місяць тому

      @@JensSchraeder When working for Cummins in engineering and sales, we learned a lot about charging with the first electric semi we built in 2017. Many warehouse owners consider adding portable chargers when third-party trucks unload at the warehouse, which can range as little as 10 minutes to an hour. Four years ago, I was personally involved in electrical power generation designs at Amazon, Federal Express, UPS, Walmart, and TJ Max. A driver takes 16 minutes to refuel and then a 20 to 30-minute break. This gives them enough time to charge. Things will change once truck and fleet owners see a reduction in maintenance, ease of driving, and fuel costs.
