I will admit I was a bit concerned about this game. It looked wholesome and cute of course, and the gameplay looked decent, but in my opinion, Chibig tends to leave their games a little half-baked on release. But this seems to be pretty good. I might wait a little longer to pick it up, just to give see if anything more is introduced, but it seems to be off to a nice start and I want to play this at some point. Thanks for the review.
That’s exactly how I felt too. I looked at the creator’s Kickstarter and he said “the bulk majority of the game will be released on August 21st” which is a pretty big red flag for me. I’d like to get it this week, but I’m ok with waiting to see what may or may not be added.
I wonder if the price will drop more. Reg price on switch is 19.99 USD but 16.99 right now until the 8th it sucks to pay almost regular price ony for it to go on a deep discount within months of release
@@ravenpoe7093 good luck. My biggest hope is there's a big enough push for mods to give us a wind waker scale map like I hoped for at first announcement. Imagine delivering between all those different islands

I wanted to like Mailtime but because its over the treetops i have trouble getting from one place to another, not sure where im going and if i fall i gotta get back up where i was and still try to figure out where im going. This seems a little simpler with getting bearings since ur nob blinded by so much foliage Its been a long time since i played it for forgot how it realy looked but i felt so lost. Big City Little Kitty doesn’t have the foliage and has some kind of map but i still get lost on direction and buidings i used to get where i wanted to go

This is a great review, I was thinking in getting this game for my girlfriend and your review convinced me, low key I want to play it too! I really love the idea of making games inspired by Ghibli. I LOVED so much playing Ni No Kuni 1 and 2. I wish there were more games like this.
I finally played this a few days ago. I backed the Kickstarter long enough ago that I'd almost forgotten about it by the time I got the notification that the download codes were being shipped. Overall, I thought the game was a delight. Short, yes, but at this point in my life, that doesn't bother me at all. It's so hard for me to carve out time to play these days that a game that just stops by for a bit and doesn't stay too long (and therefore doesn't sit in backlog limbo for literal years) is nice. Portal and Journey did the same thing, and I loved both of those. I've seen a few people complaining about the flight controls. I really don't get that. The starting broom was restrictive, naturally, and there's definitely a knack to it. But once you pick that knack (and a broom upgrade or two), traversing the island is great. I do not regret the $22 or so I tossed into the pot to make this game happen.
I bought it for switch since I only spent $16 but I'm really hoping once I get my steamdeck it'll run better on there. Its not as developed as I had hoped at this point. Its not bad but its not nearly as amazing as I was hoping. Ive been looking forward to this game for years.
The demo unsold me on this game. You dont fly, just glide. And the air current repel you instead of carrying you. And the map doesnt tell you where to send the delivery.
I don't think the art looks like Ghibli at all, there's far too much Deviant Artness to it (which I'm also not very fond of since for most part it just feels like people trying to do an anime art style but not quite cutting it, feeling like sort of an uncanny valley for me). The style of the cutscenes is a bit similar I guess. Not too fond of the main girl's design either, it just lacks any sort of femininity. Studio Ghibli's girls are all feminine and charming including Kiki, this one seems to be lacking both (for me at least). That aside, it doesn't seem to really be a game for me. It's more the kind of game where you just wander around and do some stuff, but where nothing seems to pose a proper challenge. And well I think it could've used a 'less is more' approach. Mostly smaller environments, more dense but the same amount of objects and things. That would make the game world seem a lot livelier. Instead everything's just too sprawled out. Basically I feel like they tried to kinda become a jack of multiple trades, but it ended up becoming a master of none. Tried to put the focus on quests, adventuring, exploration and platforming while it was probably better to focus on just 2 or at best 3 of those things.
still waiting for my steam key to arrive since I invested in the kickstarter. chibig is kind of hit or miss with there games, the only hit i technically care about is Koa and the five pirate and that's because I have a bias towards loving 3D platformers.

Unity games always run fantastic for me. The only time I have stuttering or issues is with Unreal games.
How long is the game?
It took me about three and a half hours to get through the story and do some (but not all) of the side quests.

Looks cute, but can't say it looks anything like Ghibli. And man, those character designs are kind of awful, outside of the main character.
