Yep, I'm currently prepping for war against these little finks. One got into my quail coop last night and killed all 32 of them. Just nibbled the backs of their heads and left them to slowly die. I'm about to build 178 of these traps and fill my property with them. Hey weasel - Hide yo kids, hide yo wife. I'm comin' for ya.
Sam, you inspired me with this video a couple years ago. I take a week long trip up into the Allegheny national forest every year to trap fisher I decided this year to set weasel boxes in some locations and I picked 3 weasels off in that week 2 short tailed weasels and a "new york" weasel. I just used a skunky call lure and some chicken and a few feathers.
i dont know if u already know this but red squirel meat is a really good bait i found it better than any other bait i used i never used any lures and they come to it every time if they are in the area
Those short tailed weasels are so pretty. Cant help but feel a little bad for them lol considering I'm a ferret owner. But great trapping videos, we have a different kind of weasel over here in PA, they're not nearly as pretty!
You're a muskrat trapping fool I'll tell ya. I liked your 3 part series on trapping muskrat. It is legal to put a hole in the houses here in MN, but I like the idea of leaving that be and doing those sets you were doing. I got a beaver trapping video from when I was i AK you should check out. "My ultimate beaver trapping clip collection". Its rough thick ice shallow water trapping. Keep the good vids coming man.
I had one in the back garden after my pet rabbit, moved the rabbit hutch but the weasel kept going back to where the hutch used to be then one morning went out to my rabbit and all it's skin on it's back leg was torn off, had to put my rabbit down
hey how do you find weasel sign before the snow falls i dont see and weasels at all except mink but keep having my mink boxes empties out in a single night thinkn it may be weasels but we dont see or hear of any caught in my area of iowa. i have seen one alive in the wild in 12 years of trapping
all rat traps are on the bottom of weasel boxes, how bout blocking the trap up so it looks more like a hole in a log? they don't have to go down to hit the pan and not that it matters but I think you'd get all head catches, I'm going to try it next year
We don't have weasels here in Indiana, mink but no weasels. My father caught something small and brown in a 1-60 once, asked the fur buyer what it was. He said he hadn't seen one here in over ten years and said it was a pocket weasel. I have no idea how it managed to get caught in a 1-60
Weasels are for the most part just something to add to your catch, they are not that hard to catch,look for sign if there is no sign there is no weasels,wait for a little snow and do your scouting, wait for it to get cold or they will spoil fast on ya
You are welcome to the one that just killed one of my chickens. grrr. I have to figure out how to get that bugger. I guess Im going to have to build me one of those traps but with all the live bait around I doubt the weasel will bother with the trap.
I think his daughter is still selling lures on a limited basis, not sure but I think a supplier somewhere in Michigan can set you up with a link to her
I only ever caught 1 weasel in a muskrat set! And when I went to sell my fur. The furbuyer said I will give you a quarter for the weasel . If you take it back home with you! What do you useally get for a weasel?

Weasels are tiny O.o hard to believe that thing has killed 45 of my chickens since thanksgiving :(

i live in wisconsin and i am getting into trapping and was wondering if you can trap on private land that is leased for public hunting?
About an inch or so; they can get through generally small spaces.
Are weasels always travelling thru culverts?
do they have to be low in water level?
do you think i should set a culvert that is dry by a lake for weasels its about 100 yds away from the lake
