I love all your videos Sam! I'm almost 40 now and have enjoyed the outdoors trapping, fishing, and hunting my whole life. I think everyone out there who enjoys the outdoors can learn something from you. Not everyone out there with your kind of knowledge is willing to share it with other people, and you do it for free and ask for nothing in return! Your as good as they get in my book and I'll shake your hand any day. Thanks for all that you do, and best wishes to you!
Excellent information. Wish I had found this years ago. You explained the bottom edge set like I have never seen before. Now I know what all the hype was all about. Another tool in my tool box. Thanks.
Nice video....nice narrating.. nice vids of actual catches..
im learning a lot about muskrat/mink trapping from your videos, this year will be my first year trapping these critters..... keep em coming!
Nice informative videos, thanks for your time putting these out there.
Thanks for sharing Sam. Been trapping for a few years and never caught a mink. This year i am focusing more on rats and mink so i have been watching your video's.
Nice video. We're switching to more 'rat and mink trapping this fall due to deer season overlap. Now I have to go buy some pavers to set up my bottom edge sets....
Great video, nothing better in life then enjoying the outdoors trapping, hunting and fishing. Im up in Saskatchewan and mainly target coyote w/ power snares.
That was awesome. Keep making more. Good job
Sam I watch your trapping videos for a refresher course in trapping .
Great stuff.
BNO I learned so much from watching this video. Trapping looks like so much fun.
Thanks for the idea of putting a trap holder on a brick, never would have thought of that. I too use the bottom edge sets, but use a stick to anchor the trap down, and thats pretty hard to do on a rocky river bottom. Thanks again for the idea
Your videos has help me a lot.
Thanks
I have to say, your videos are VERY entertaining haha, I've been watching them all day. Nice job sir keep up the good work.
@bigtimebowfishing pocket sets are becoming harder with the low water. I will try the 160's though. I agree with some of the other guys the brick set (for lack of better name) is a great idea. I'm trapping a couple of bridges and undercut banks. I'm making the brick sets now..Should be fun. Will keep you posted.
This is my boyhood starting in 1951, it was all longsprings then.
Trappin mink in the u.p gotta love it

the muskrat are verry good eating
minks dandy dandy dandy dandy dandy musckrat nice one nice one nice one
I live in an area where my traps sets had to be hidden extremely well or they had the potential to "walk'. how do you keep your traps sets from walking. your setting right out in the open with boxes that can be seen for miles. i set about 150 traps a day and kept them moving so i didnt create a noticeable trail to them. i trapped mostly from a canoe trying not to leave tracks
you should try a colony trap in the bottom edges
Good stuff brother
look forward to your videos all the time! Any advise on deeper river trapping for mink and muskrat? I caught a small female mink on a bottom edge about a month ago when the water was low but nothing since.
the mink seem to be very brown in color, the ones we get are cold black
could you make a vid on how you make those Brick rigs Love your videos and Great Catch
(when ever you have time.)
great video
Where do you get the clap for on the bricks? I like that system. Actually I like a lot of the things you do. Thank you for sharing
I find 1.5 a little over kill for mink.. i usually use a 1 stoploss on a drown set.. but very nice catches, and good sets..
Im getting into trapping, and i was wondering if 1.5 coilspring dukes would be too big for muskrats and break their legs?
Wow!
Good for you man smoking those river rats.
This video was really cool I want to start traping mink and muskrats any tips
Hi,, have a question. if you have a mink box that is sitting for awhile, how often do you freshin up the lure/urine? im new to this so pardon if a goofey question. Thanks and we enjoy your vids!
10 bucks for the fur, eat the meat, guts for bait. it all has its use
Are you planing on makeing more muskrat traping video this year.your traping videos are grate thanks
We have a stream that runs through are land a bit bigger than that but in the summer I goes dry in some spots we also have cattle.
Do you think it has muskrat we have trapped mink there but I wonder if there are rats thank you so much this video was helpful I liked it and I will subsibe.
I noticed a lot of your sets are clearly visible right by the road. You must be lucky to be in an area where trap thieves are uncommon. Lots of good spots around me you're more likely to check your line to find your traps or catch (or both) are missing. Sad times in lots of places. But good video nonetheless!
Hey what ever works for you, keep it up, and good luck out there
nice mushrat, u r awesome
Hot rapper that's great I'm 11to but I started when I was8 keep on catching
yo they call me BoCat don,t have any muskrat down here in FL but have a ton of rcoons cats fox cyots just ta let u know u can TRAPPP so keep the vids comen oh by the way cool slingshot my biggest GATOR 14.6 thanks BOCAT

@TheOutdoorsman07 gld you getting them hope i helped in giving you guys ideas
we would like to see more vids
12:20 Nice truck!
Lol
you should make a video on how to skin flesh and board a mink
@bigtimebowfishing i have a big problem with mink eating my trapped muskrats i check them daily sometimes twice a day and we set in the huts were allowed to in South Dakota ive set up some traps for the minks but i cant get one and the other day i was grabbing a rat outof the hut and i thought it was alive it was fight ing so a let go took of my gloves and sat down my stake so i could see in the hut and then i pulled it straight out it was frozen soild i think a mink was STILL feeding on it
What's up with that running board on the truck? Might want to spend a few minutes fixing that. Great videos though love to see the conibear Clips in action. Beautiful Brooks your using also, any trout in those Brooks?
ever try baiting a mink box with carrots to catch muskrats?
damn good video, brotha..i just threw a muskrat/mink line out this morning
gotta love the trolls livin in disney movies. fence steeples(some callem staples)work good with the boxes too. short piece of wire makes switchin traps out or summer storage easier.
love your videos I would like to know what type of bracket that is you are mounting to the mason bricks
about how many muskrat and mink do you trap a year
@tszrejna they are threre you might wanna try pocket sets or 160's in the runs
Alright thanks
caught my first muskrat today
Thanks for this video im gonna start trapping this year im only 13 so im gonna try anytips please comment to me
Thank for showing this video. But aren't you kind of taking a chance show every one where your setting your traps.
@KellyDermody... You have no idea what you're talking about. Those are body grip traps. They kill quickly and usually with a neck break. Neck breaks are considered the most humane way to put an animal down.
I reported her for harassment. Sucks people have to be ignorant like that about ethical conservation practices.
Maxine has been reported and blocked. Any of you other turd burgers want to take a shot?
How much would you get for muskrats and mink in your state?
Thanks for the great video. Are you on Wisconsin?
@16bigbass yes i will do one soon
Do you ever trap further than 50 ft from your vehicle?
what do u use for mink bait
Hi with the mink boxes having the trap right at the mouth how do you avoid catching non target species, even folk walking a dog sticking its nose in. I'm from the UK and it would be illegal to set the traps like this we would have to have the trap well inside the box with probably a bar across the mouth . Even when setting on private property where no one else should be we have to very careful. Edited to say great video.
For the first 30 seconds w/o looking at the screen,I’m thinking this is some kind of old skit of Chris Farley
hi im just getting in to conibear trapping like i just got $90 worth of conibear's would a 160 work for muskrat or do you recommend the 110 thanks and God bless-Zak
What brand of conibears do u use for your bottom edge sets?
Can you secure your trap to the box I'm just getting into muskrat and mink trapping the two boxes I've made I have my conibears attached to the box using fencing staples
Heck Outdoors yes but still anchor the box down.
Sam Wood Outdoors thank you
this is funny man.... just kip on going :)
how deep are your bottom edge sets? I would like to set some this year

What are u using as bait for mink
