Nice simple easy trap. I saw a weasel in my yard yesterday and we have 6 backyard chickens. I'm gonna build a few traps like yours and get rid of it before it finds a way into our coup. Thanks for sharing.

I build boxes that are almost exactly like this. A couple inches longer and instead of wire I drill 4 holes at an angle through the top board into the sides and use a nail in the holes to hold it shut. About any similar design works well for weasels.

Great video. I like alot of your trapping vids, i would like to get into Weasel trapping. I live in pa so is just creeks pines and the general stuff. Any pointers? I don't know much about their area
@TheYamahahunter I don't really know. If it was me trying it I would put a 2 in whole in it for a squirrel
sam, do you use wood strerchers or wire? or both and do you see your fur prices affected because of one or the other?
wood. It will give hide a fuller look and i think it helps value
@16bigbass we are suppose to get some snow here in the next couple days so I will get the boxes out and see what I can do..

would this trap work on a squirrel if you found a way to mount it in a tree?

How do you attach the trap to the box?
wouldn't a mink try getting in there too if you make a larger hole? wouldn't the rat trap be good enough to kill or at least keep it there?
SirLobsterman if a mink got in there the rat trap isn't gonna hold or kill him. I've had trouble killing bigger grey squirrels with a rat trap and a mink is far tougher. The skull on a mink is probably 3 or 4 times thicker not to mention a mink is way stronger than a squirrel.

i havent heard of anyone ever seeing a weasel around here i live in south east south dakota would you tink there would be any around here
jjkostal you don't see them. They are there believe me. I've lived in NWPA my whole life and I've personally only ever remember seeing 3 weasels in the wild one of which I killed and had freeze dried and it now sits on my bookshelf. This past winter I set out 5 or 6 boxes and I connected with 2 short tailed weasels and 1 long tailed weasel in a week.

I live in north west PA and we have weasels about 20 miles from the PA/OH line so I can imagine you guys got them too.
