  • Fruit leather is super easy and delicious, plus it can be made from fruit that is over-ripe, ugly, or too soft to can. And the kids love it! Here's how I made some using plums. Step by step instructions for making your own fabulous fruit leather, plus some tips for saving it if it dried too long or got crispy edges!

Thank you for the step by step process. I really appreciate that you mentioned using "over ripe" fruit as it really doesn't matter what it looks once it becomes leather! The over ripe fruit is often times much sweeter as well, so the need to use some sort of sweetner is possibly reduced. My question is, How long can you store fruit leather?
Once again, thank you for your presentation.

I love that you use different fruits that we don’t see. I have a major issue with using corn syrup in that volume or at all. You. Add a really healthy snack bad for you. Use honey, keto sweeteners or even maple syrup. I hope to see more of you vlogs soon. Cheers

Wow love your fruit roll up video. Can I use any fruit and apply the recipe to it?
Also my family loves sour anything. So I can do very little syrup?
    Can’t wait to try this.
    Love your blog.

Hi Precious,i say you do really good at this making the fruit snacks but the only thing that i think it might be better using parchment paper instead of the foil, and probably better health wise but i”am lovin’it the way you handle it all with this recipe, and i say keep more videos coming, thank you, love Denny😘🙏🦋🍎🍓🍌

I would use parchment paper over aluminium foil. I would be concerned about aluminium in the body.

How long can I store these and what are the best methods of storage?

These are dehydrated foods, so if they're stored right they can keep up to 20 years. To keep them that long, store them in an airtight container like a Mylar bag, or a mason jar, with an oxygen absorber. If you're planning to eat them within the next couple of years, still go airtight to keep bugs out, but something like a rubbermaid leftovers container will work for that long as well. I keep them in mason jars on the shelf with no oxygen absorber and the kids have no problem eating them all within a year.

I have tried this more than I care to share & it never turns out, I followed what you did in your Vlog & it either sticks so bad to the foil & I can't get any of it to come off so I have to toss everything in the trash, or I've tried spraying the foil W/Pam & then its so oily that the top in done & the bottom is way to greasie so I don't know what to do.... I've tried Strawberries/Blueberries/Blackberries/Pineapple/ all kinds of berries & I've failed @ every turn... HELP!!!!

You don't need a dehydrator,I've been just using parchment on an aluminum pan in the sun all summer!

This is a good but...concerned me... regarding the aluminum foil, I think the acid in the berries might draw aluminum into the berries. Maybe check that out. Also, clear plastic wrap, usually contains BPA..trust me, you dont want that in your body. Check that out. It truly is a bad one. Also, corn syrup is high fructose..really not a food anyone should consume. Spikes blood sugar. I would use honey, its healthy and good for us. Line the trays with undyed parchment paper and roll them up in that. Beautiful.

That's the great thing about choice. We can determine for ourselves what we use. I appreciate her time to show us her process and recipe and we can tweak it as needed.

You can order more fruit leather trays from the dehydrator's company on Amazon.
