    When you get a colonoscopy they don't let you go home until you fart. I was told by my doc that the air is a loan, he gives it to you but he wants it back later.

      I had that around 2 months ago-the recovery section of the hospital was hilarious! You could hear everyone ripping loud ones.

      Really!? You're lucky! Both me and my mom (different doctors) had to "do what they wanted" before we could leave. I guess in my case I have a very slow GI track and they needed to make sure it woke back up? I don't know. I remember it being so stressed to me that when I was first waking up from anesthesia my first groggy thoughts were "okay I just need to do a big fart and then I can wake up and leave"

    I've never been so happy to know someone farted!! LOLOL 🙊 If this video title was ANYONE ELSE I would not have clicked because it likely would have been distasteful, but because of the way you guys are and how modest yet candid I knew it would be a great update!! So excited your system is waking up Mary!! Praying for you three as always!! Can you please let us know now that you are post-op how long they figure you may need to stay? I know before surgery you said it could be a few days or a few weeks.

    • @robynbailey5460
      @robynbailey5460 7 років тому +2

      Marisa S Idk, I can't say I find flatulence funny, but NO ONE should be ashamed of farting. LOL. It's a natural function of the body, just like eating and breathing. Farting has to happen. Being alive isn't suppose to be a modest, pretty thing. But it's what you have to do to function. Grown up, farting was shamed upon. Now that I'm almost 22, I actually could care less how people felt about my bodily functions. No one should shame anyone else for their functions. Period.

    • @MarisaAndChew
      @MarisaAndChew 7 років тому +9

      I not once said farting was a joke, nor did i say it was disgusting etc. I am in fact very happy that Mary's system is doing WHAT IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE DOING, my comment about if this was any other channel simply meant that so many people try and make this natural process into something "hilarious" and it becomes very distasteful and even disgusting, and along with that it also can become very immature. If I were to see someone else announcing they had farted in my feed, I likely wouldn't have clicked on it, or been excited for the person, because in most cases, who cares? Mary is doing a wonderful job in sharing her story in a way that is very much real and candid, while still maintaining her modesty and dignity as a human being. Each of us have our own different standards for modesty for our bodies and I love that Mary does her best to be perfectly open while respecting both herself and her audience so as to not offend anyone.

    Pregnant moms get nice rooms and restaurant quality food so they remember a good experience. They will then choose that hospital for all their future family needs. It's like an investment. It's all related to money and public relations for the hospital.

    • @rdidri
      @rdidri 7 років тому +1

      Rebecca Moon- Healthcare in USA is so much different than in Canada.. You can see it on vlogs of moms having babies in American hospitals. I'm an RN, and have worked at 3 hospitals in my long career. Each one invested lots of money in the OB/GYN units. Like I said, if parents have good experiences with their babies' births, then they are more likely to go back to that hospital for all their hospital needs in the future (broken bones, surgeries, etc).

    It is definitely a "money talks" situation with the really nice maternity hospital rooms. When you are having a baby you can pick what hospital you want to go to, so hospitals try to make theirs the nicest possible so people will pick them. But when you have a chronic disease it is generally much more of "this is the hospital you are going to" so there is no incentive for the hospital to make it really nice. Apparently, heart wards are getting more commercialized as well. My mom is a nurse, and the cardiac wing has real wood furniture and all this other nice stuff, and her floor has all the crappy plastic and particle board furniture.

I didn't mind tho. I was there for a beautiful reason. so I do get why Mary feels that way. they should make u as comfortable as they can when ur in pain.

    I might of missed a few videos cause I was in the hospital myself. But did they put in a "J" tube or a "GJ" tube? I'm hoping they only put in the "J" tube because when I had mine put in my surgeon, who is awesome, said most "GJ" tubes have a %50 rate of coming out on their our. So hopefully they put in a regular "J" tube. I've had mine in for two years and haven't had to change it or any problems with it. I do my own feedings at home with no help from any medical staff. Right now I run my feeding over night while I'm sleeping...I hook it up to the pump which has a bag of liquid nutrition and another bag of water for a flush. The connect it and go to bed! lol my current settings are 80mg of nutrition an hour then a 40mg flush and that goes on for 8 to 10 hours and so on every night. I am praying for a speedy recovery and that you have had with mine. God bless you both!!!!!!

    LOL If it helps you feel any better, child birth in real life is not nearly as glamorous as they make it look on tv. Unless you are one of the elite few who can afford those rooms. Try a small room with a regular bed and two roommates, divided by curtains. That's what most women endure after childbirth. And yes a shared bathroom. So your corner room is every bit as nice as you think it is. Enjoy it till you can get home where you belong. Speedy recovery!

    • @rebeccamoon5766
      @rebeccamoon5766 7 років тому +1

      Tareesa Whiting Yeah, the delivery rooms can be pretty nice. They have big beds so the women can labour in different positions and they're private so the women focus on pushing instead of worrying about being quiet. But once the big moment's over, you're outta there and into a regular room, usually shared by at least one other woman (and the babies too). It's not hospitals playing favourites, except in exchange for copious quantities of cash 😋

    My daughter has been following your videos for some time and showed us this last group when you went into the hospital. I wanted to tell you a story of a missionary we know that came to our hospital here for bowel cancer surgery. They blew his abdomen up to do their surgery. The nurses warned him that he may pass some gas and that was a good sign. The nurses needed to move him in bed so he could receive care. The nurses were not surprised by the THUNDEROUS fart that came as he moved. They did not expect his reply "PRAISE THE LORD!!" We praise the Lord with you that the abdominal pain is going away by this means.

    The last couple of times I had surgery I had so much air/gas it hurt to even speak certain words. But one time I almost made my nurse faint. Could be because she turned me over on my side to give me something to "relieve" me. Before she could start she was right by my backside and she had me pull my knees as close to my chest as possible. But when I did that woke my GI tract up. Cause it just ALL came out. Right in her face. Definitely NOT my best performance.

    After one of my surgeries they kept coming in saying "did you fart yet?"
    I kept saying no and was starting to get annoyed then one of the times my nurse came in she was tovhing my stomach I let one go... Or rather it exploded out of me beyond my control, the nurse literally shouted yay and did this little fist pump thing .... Then she touched it again and it happened again... She kept pushing on my stomach for two or 3 minutes before finally I was like is there anyway we could either stop doing that or find me a room with a window ??
