When I was a teenager, I used Cakewalk at school, now I just bought Sonar Platinum. No regrets! Lots of improvements since the 90s and early 2000s lol.

I wish they would show the program in actual use so that you can actually HEAR whats going on, in real time, instead of the loud over compressed club track that they dubbed in after the fact.
also wtf that glitchy scrolling mixer? and that not responsive website? .. sonar was my first daw 10 years ago..

Yeah.....I'm laughing as He's changing EQ settings, and Drum replacements, etc with THE WHOLE MIX blaring. How could one know what the sonic difference was? I'm glad to see Sonar Plat still has a following. I moved up the ranks to "splat" and inspite of the negative still thinks its one of the easiest DAWs to record with.

Switching from Logic on Mac to PC. Sonar looks pretty nice, but I'm trying to decide between Sonar Platinum, Cubase 9.5, and Reason 10. Reason has way more unique synthesis design than the others, but Cubase has a lot more innovative technologies like in the automation, for example. This video basically showed me that Sonar has crappy marketing and what they're really trying to sell me is a bunch of plugins...but I already own almost every Waves plugin. This video is basically making me put Sonar in third place among the other two options.

I think they have to work on the engine more coz Sonar has latency issues seriously, it crashed on me many times. I started off with Sonar X2 producer, the crashing was too much so I upgraded to the platinum version but nothing changed. You all won't believe that I couldn't finish even just a single track in Sonar since 2012, so I switched over to Native instruments Maschine on the same computer but man it worked for me like crazy, I'm able to complete over 100s of tracks and damn Maschine has no latency issue. So now I use Sonar platinum for only mixing and mastering, it works well but sometimes I encounter crashes.
Hi Samuel, Thanks for the feedback. What type of Audio Interface are you using that you are experiencing latency issues with? Latency is the cause of interaction between the software and your computer / audio interface so depending on how you have SONAR setup you may experience additional latency. Also, some plug-ins cause additional latency due to how they process a signal so keep that in mind.
CakewalkSoftware thanks for the reply. I use Roland Quad capture,Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU@3.60GHZ 4 Cores,2 TB Hard Drive,Windows 10 Home Edition 64-bit,NVIDIA GeForce GT720. I contacted your support team many times and they did their best for me but nothing changes.
I blame your hardware/drivers. Buy a certified DAW.

Why would I use this over logic or cubase, it looks ultra laggy and convoluted
Dedicated Sonar user here. I have Platinum. It seems pretty hard to work with being a guitar player. Maybe I am doing something wrong. Do you guys provide more in-depth tutorials for guitarists? Looping is a breeze. Mixing things and working with MIDI seems non-intuitive. MIDI is important to me...

I know the track is the usual overproduced substandard tasteless empty shite, but plenty of SONAR tutorials and reviews out there, it's only a generic introduction not worth complaining about. Still useful.
I have used Sonar for years. Love everything about it...except the sound. The sound engine is muddy. You can hear it in this track. That's because the response only goes up to about 20k. Most every other daw captures up to 22k. You can't hear those frequencies directly, but the cumulative effect of never having them as part of the signal is that Sonar lacks clarity and soundstage.
First time I've heard this argument, very interesting. I've used sonar for many years and can't say I've experienced that. Have you been able to compare tracks ( same music ) done in Sonar and other DAWs? if you've got samples, I'd like to hear them.
Many people complain about latency................................Latency is always the issue with Sonar......................why don`t they fix that !!! ?????
I'm a dedicated SONAR user but the soundtrack for this video is horrible. It would have been better to play the actual audio chunks demonstrating each visual shown. Bad PR.

I agree it's pure marketing bs! Doesn't help to really understand what the sonic benefits or possibilities of the features. Sure it's tight but it's purely promo. I was hoping to get a better understanding of features in real time. Oh well. Onward to find good dirt.
