One of my favourite additions to SE5 is how a lot of soldiers talk about casual stuff like their life, vacations, war etc. It makes it feel alive. I don't remember such thing in previous games.
In SE4 every mission generates different dialogues example in Abrunza Monastery, two soldiers talking to near church about Lorino Dockyard incident after what you did in that place and in the monastery everyone in the Black Brigade accused one another as a thief or a mob, another dialogues I found in SE4 is that some generate when you get close to them, a good example to it is in the Megazzeno Facility, a field marshall talking to himself with different voice than the usual officer voice, note he doesn't calm nor go back to its place again after a provoke. And yes SE4 does the same too but limited and randomized lines though.
There is some constantly repeated dialogue in SE4. Such as “He is gone! But best to stay alert!” or “I feel like someone is walking on my grave”. But it doesn’t happen enough to be annoying. Haven’t played enough SE5 yet to know if it’s the same.
I feel the gameplay and mechanics are better in Sniper Elite 4. I have played and completed both games, and I found that Sniper Elite 5 was missing some key mechanics. I found that most annoyingly, the ability to crouch and run at the same time was removed. This for me is a really important part of Sniper Elite 4. I also find that the variety of gadgets is lacking. I like the fact that in Sniper Elite 4 There were A large range of different mines and sneaky devices. I found that the Weapon modifications in Sniper Elite 5 were good, to an extent, however it seemed very random. Collecting these items was not purposeful, it just mattered if you happen to search the right body but you didn’t know which body that was. The graphics have improved in Sniper Elite 5, but not enough since the previous version. I found that I really wanted to play Sniper Elite 4 again and again, but I did not necessarily want to keep playing Sniper Elite 5. I also found the slow motion animations, were truly lacking. In Sniper Elite 4 One could really see where the bullet entered, what part of the body was damaged, and where the exit wound was. However, I found that in Sniper Elite 5, these animations were clunky, and in some cases the bullets didn’t even enter the body of the shot person. I also found that the bodies ragdolled more often than they should have. I hope that some of these issues will be updated, at some point. One other thing that really frustrates me, is that in Sniper Elite 4, if you need a satchel explosive, you have them already. You don’t have to go searching for them. If you wanted to blow up a tank, you don’t have to have a satchel explosives, you could find other ways of doing it. If you wanted to blow up a anti-aircraft gun, you could do it with TNT, but now you can’t. I feel this really takes away from the emersion. I also find that the fact that you have to search for a crowbar, or bolt cutters, in every level, is really frustrating. Perhaps in the first level, then surely this experience sniper would take this kind of thing with him. Rather than having to search every time. Things like this take away from the immersion and enjoyment of the game.
"I also found that the bodies ragdolled more often than they should have." What does this even mean? A body is a ragdoll from the moment it's turned dead to the moments it's physics are locked in place to save resources, which I don't think happens at all.
yeah.. its more of a stealth game at times than a sniper game:/ i enjoy it.. but se4 is still my favorite se game:) atleast the cqc make me use the mp's for once :D oh and the game really missing a shotgun:(
@@Yeahimman32 You need the subsonic ammo and a suppressor to make the gun truly silent in Sniper Elite 5, which is more accurate to how silenced weapons actually work.
The graphics have definitely improved, nothing great but better, and the gameplay is as good as always. Loving this new installment to the Sniper Elite franchise. And as always, great video Nick!
Nothing great? Sniper elite 5 is very detailed, its impressive. The thing is that if you been based on videos, he didnt show much. But there is levels like the factory where there is not a single corner that isnt full of details, graphic is great in this game now, i am impressed with the scale of things, map feels huge and there is a good draw distance too.
If SE5 have crouch run, trip mine and more open level design plus remove unnecessary barrier like in SE4, It will be perfect SE! SE5 is doing really good job on improving weak part but the same time also step down what is really solid part from SE4.
The games are very similar, I think I prefer SE5 but I agree trip mines should be added and barriers should he removed. However crouch running was far to overpowerd and I'm glad it's gone.
@@thermonuclear8335 That is odd. I wonder if they pulled from campaign/survival because they thought the chain trip mine mechanic was too overpowered. I don't feel that way but if that was why they could have just removed the chain option
I guess it would really just be a less effective teller mine at that point but it would be nice to have all gadgets from newer games and potentially have them in categories like how RDR 1&2 would treat throwables. Another thing about this game that irritates me is that they removed sticky TNT. Any thoughts on whether or not that is OP?
Great comparison as always!! Just one point though, at 4:50 this is something that you can do in Sniper Elite 4 as well! It helped out a lot in the night time missions where it would be easier to sneak around and maintain a stealthy approach by shooting out nearby lightbulbs with your silenced Welrod pistol
His point was that in 5 there are lights that cant be shot out, ones in places where a lighting adjustment would be nice. The ones in 5 that cant be shot out look like the lights in the warehouses in 4. I actually thought all lights in 5 couldnt be shot out and quit trying, now i know some can be,..... thank God. I, like yourself apparently, enjoy sneaking around in near darkness.... it sets mood, creayes realism. I thought 5 had done away with this and have been disapointed with this aspect of 5 until I saw this video. Happy playing.
@@joebonomono ahh I see! I guess the phrasing didn't quite get that point across to me! That sounds so strange that they would do that though, definitely a strange step down from the 4th title in that regard! Thanks for clarifying, cheers!
I wasn’t expecting the controls to improve a great deal it’s how the games always played but it’s still so much fun. I like the ADS view now much better. Once I complete the campaign that real player sniper mode seems fun to me. The sounds are definitely better in 5. I like how you can hear the gun getting near empty. Something I hear in Battlefield often. I wish we got more than 9 missions. But hey. So overall it’s a great game.
Sniper Elite 5 has proved very divisive among the community, but I’ve been enjoying my time with the game so far. There are definitely some design quirks, definitely some bugs, and there are a few areas where I think the game took a step down from 4, but I think it’s a really solid entry to the series. In some ways, I like it more than 4, but 4 has a special place in my heart so it’s hard to say which is definitely better imo.
It's just so buggy, for me - falling through walls, getting stuck running up stairs, repeatedly reclimbing the ladder/wall you just dropped off (leaping straight back over the wall you just vaulted while being shot at!). I agree the maps are much less sandboxy and more funnelled - and I miss the AP traps. I see no reason to remove them.
Sniper elite 5 hit home for me because my grandfather was part of the first wave on Omaha he served in the 1st infantry division 18th regiment U.S army from 1941 to 1953 he's 102 now
What I love about the weapon sounds in 5 is that they went to Bruce Crompton and Jonathan Ferguson and recorded real sounds for certain guns such as the Thompson, the Springfield and the M1911, from the firing of the gun right down to the reloading and mechanical sounds, at different ranges as well. Even the Welrod's sound effects are authentic.
Sniper Elite 5 in stealth is actually really interesting. I've been doing a pacifist challenge run where i can't raise the alarm and can't kill unless instructed to (I can''t knock them out either unless they have an item necessary for progression) and honestly, it's been quite interesting to do thus far.
I loved Sniper Elite 4 I'm in love with Sniper Elite 5 Totally addictive game Well done Rebellion on another Classic Now give us a great Judge Dredd Game please
Sniper Elite 4 felt like the love of my life to me, then SE5 feels like an arranged bride who I cheat with SE4 still. They rather kept SE4 and build new maps and adding that new weapon customisation system only and the game would have been greater !
the biggest problem is that they removed crouch running... WHY? and also they butchered the iron sights for EVERY GUN. But the axis invasion is pretty cool
Thank you for the video my friend. I've played Sniper Elite 4 more times than one would think possible and I greatly anticipated Sniper Elite 5. After playing it through a number of times since release, I agree substantially with your comparison. I find Sniper Elite 5 a resounding success with a few exceptions. Most grievous to me is the needless and often annoying habit of funneling the player around by way of un-traversable terrain or some sort of barrier. I also miss rescuing people as in Sniper Elite 4's Ariana story or assisting the Partisans. But overall, I adore the game. I've spent little time anywhere else since its release.
I really enjoyed your video! Your pros and cons seem very fair and even. Sniper Elite is one of my favorite game series of all time, and your video just made me more excited to play it!
Ive played through the game on hard and its really fun, it makes it so much more satisfying to play on hard, you have to worry about the sound range on supressors and stuff and it feels really rewarding to stealth
@@ThinWhiteLuke not really, there are some that are bigger even, the main differance is that theyre usally a little more linear in 5, like theyre not as open and accesible as 4
@@johannesclips1685 in 4 it takes me about an hour to get through a level, I like to take my time and play realistically/stealthy. You think 5 has longer levels or shorter?
@@ThinWhiteLuke i used almsot two hours in every level actually sometimes more, finding all the workbenches and doing all the objectives takes a while so i would say it depends, i used around 1 1/2 hours on every level in 4 and like 2 to 2 1/2 hours so maybe they are longer
@@johannesclips1685 awesome 👏 thanks. Glad they are longer, because there aren’t a lot of games out that scratch this “itch” so to speak. Between the Hitman games, MGS 5 and this series that’s pretty much it, and I’m definitely not playing AC Valhalla.
overall, A great gameplay and system are the most important thing in video games, graphic always comes last. Any games with super graphics without good and fun gameplay are not a good to play. Sniper Elite 5 gameplay is fun and the invasion mode excited me.
Love your videos, but do baked lightning equal worse lightning now? If you’re not doing very interactive environments or a dynamic time of day you can get much better results.
No - baked lighting can work very well. But in this particular instance - it's not great. Some ambient light will bleed straight through walls ( i had an example of this that I forgot to include) And for a game that requires you to sit and wait a lot - a dynamic time of day would've been very cool to see implemented.
I actually prefer baked in lighting for games with actual levels, because the devs can give each level a distinct atmosphere just by using different lighting.
@@pepeedge5601 yea but this is a stealth game, it would've been much cooler if the AI reacted to time of day and changed positions go to sleep had lower vision at night or little bit avoid direct sunlit positions in afternoon
I've over 4k hours in SE4 and barely 200hrs in SE5. I agree that the Graphics are better but Presentation, Gameplay and Audio are worse. One particular aspect that you didn't mention was the Character Mechanics... how he move's, reloads and changes weapons all impact gameplay, especially in PvP. Being able to run towards the open window of a building and just 'hop' in, change weapons quickly and efficiently, move quickly while crouched, ascend and descend ladders quickly - all of these now take more time or are unavailable. In PvP, it isn't just 'Frames that Win Games' - it's seconds not in cover, seconds not a target that'll make or break a game.
I downloaded sniper elite 5 and the movement is so extremely clunky it’s not just frustrating but it becomes unplayable at times, because someone will be blocking your way or you will be blocked from moving somewhere because of a small bush, but you can climb certain walls?!?
Sniper Elite 5 is good but the amount of invisible walls and small obstacle impossible to climb over even though it looks easy to do irl is absolutely ridiculous!
Axis Invasion is the most genius game mechanic I've seen in a long time. Such a simple idea in hindsight, but whoever came up with it elevated SE 5 to a whole new level. The sudden rush of excitement and tension when an invasion begins is on par with the finale of a battle royale match. I've been playing through the campaign both single player and co-op, and the invasions are always the best part.
Invasion mode is what killed Sniper Elite 5 imo. Despite the mode apparently being a great deal of fun I've heard (I haven't played it personally), what this mode caused was a drastic shift in the level design. Now they have to pull the Apex Legends map design method to force players to find and fight each other, they take an open map, and put a large amount of "dead ground" in the map to create narrow pathways, tunnels, hallways, etc that players have to go through to fight each other and move around the map. This creates many more PVP opportunities as opposed to a giant open square field. So to prevent that situation happening in SE5 with Invasion, they restricted the level design which drastically brings down the game's fun factor. Sniping in 5 feels like a "off focus" part of the game, like you aren't supposed to be doing it. Many many times I ended up barely using my rifle and just used my welrod and SMG in close range when in other games it was the absolute other way around. I would go 4-5 levels in SE4 without even bringing my SMG out.
I'm on the second level, enjoying the single player game. The level design in the first two levels, at least, seems more restrictive as you said. One thing I noticed is that SE5 has MANY more enemies hunting you when you make a shot that many can hear. In SE4 the highest number of troops coming after me was 2, maybe 3 or 4. In SE 5 the first few attempts (using my SE4 experience) I had several cases where 8 to 12 enemy troops where stomping around, looking for me - this was a fair distance from the original shot and I was killed a few times. Now in SE5 it's "shoot and scoot" for me, usually about half way across the map.
SE 5 looks like a great step up in almost every way from the previous game though I'm kind of conflicted on the weapon sounds. They both sound great but SE 4's come across as more impactful sounding. Idk, maybe that's just me 🤷
For some reason I got sniper elite 4 on the switch and on the switch I am so good at shooters idk why, but it’s actually not bad on the switch. Maybe some texture issues, but that isn’t the games fault.
Why I prefer 4 to 5 .They have removed the ability to crouch and run at the same time :( .There is no option to turn off the red hitbox when scoping .snipers are too loud even with suppressed ammo so I find myself using the pistol a lot more .The maps look great but it gets irritating with the hedges being in the way, 4 didn't have this problem as much .Feels like stealth kills are being prioritized over sniping kills. .Controls feel a bit off
Sniper elite 4 was my favourite game for a long time to the extent where I went back and completed EVERYTHING. I’m just not getting that vibe with 5. The graphics and level detail in 5 are definitely better as well as the sounds like gunshot’s and reloading. But I feel like I could explore a lot more in 4. I feel very restricted in 5 and it’s like they are telling me where to go and I definitely don’t feel as ‘sneaky’ in SE5. Menus are pretty much the same, there’s a few changes with buttons but nothing to serious, its a shame they removed the trip mines because I used those on every level in SE4 and relied on them to pass some of the special missions like taking down the generals. One of the biggest downfalls of SE5 is the player control. It’s not good. Constantly looking left and right at the speed of light while trying to search a body is frustrating at best, it actually broke my SE4 heart because it has ruined the whole experience for me. You have to look directly at whatever you want to pick up but if you move your thumb stick that little bit to far, it flips out and is no where near the item you were aiming for. I will say though, that aiming down sights on AR’s and pistols is a good addition. All in all, it’s ok. I will stick with it and hopefully get used to the clunky controls. Multiplayer is good because of the non toxic community. 3.5 out of 5.
they removed crouch running... same way u feel about the player control. and why does karl put his eye right up to the sights when he aims down pistol sights? its pretty goofy imo
12:05 Did they forget to put in environment sound in SE5 ? It's almost dead silent. Looks like a fantastic game anyway that I'm going to enjoy when the time is right.
as someone who love level design the first level is crucial even tho you're not being told direct mecanic the way it's arrange and rythm are what develloper consider an introduction to them and quite frankly ... sniper elite 5 is amazing at making you understand one thing: NO MORE LONG RANGE which is an absolute shame! in se4 the first thing you learn you can do once the movement tutorial is over "oh yeah you see that objective on the other side of the map? you can hit it! and even better if you squint real hard: you'll also see the explosive we set beside it!" while sniper elite 5 says: "it's a bunker antena get inside and get your welrod out" and i don't know it kind of bums me out i got it in the PC game pass but i'll be honest i won't invest in any of its DLC
I couldn't agree more Nick, also I think it's nuts that you can have a fire fight with a few gerries but 50 yards away the gerries there are completely oblivious. In Kraken Awakes I've fired panserfausts direstly at the side of the carrier and nobody comes out to play. I guess the devs want you to come aboard and fight but that's not what a real solo fighter would do. You have to reduce the enemies numbers first. Oh well, hopefully if there's a SE6 some of these problems will be fixed. I think you hit the major points though and for me the more restrictive nature of SE5 is the biggest drawback. If I wanted to play a COD game I would.
i enjoy sniper elite 5.. but you are totally right about the level design!! the levels are really big.. but not as open as they use to be :( oh and authentic is way easier than authentic plus (se4) in regards of wind and bullet drop! overall sniper elite 4 is still my favorite se game.. but 5 did some things right.. i like how you can upgrade your weapons and there are some maps with 600m+ longshots..
I waited to buy SE5 until I upgraded my gpu. I am not disappointed at all and SE2 remains one of my all time favorites. Too early for me to really judge the 5th edition, but so far, I am really impressed.
SE4: Swap weapons on the field and they can be refilled with ammo normally. This drops your currently equipped weapon SE5: Enemy weapons are temporary pickups. You use the ammo on that gun then drop it on the ground. It does NOT replace your equipped weapons. Once you swap to one of your owned weapons, it drops that enemy weapon on the ground
You didn't mention one of the biggest changes that affects the sniping - the addition of small white lines that show you where your bullet will go even with all assists disabled on highest difficulty. Those were not there in SE4, so you needed to figure it out for yourself in the shooting range.
I seriously hate the COD Vangard style frankenguns in 5.😤 The only thing I like more in 5 are the non-lethal options. One level and I was done with playing Funnel level entrapment 5🙄. Thanks Gamepass for saving me $50.👍
Side note: I HATE it when UA-cam says in the corner that the video is 1080p while I can clearly see it's 480p! What's the problem with UA-cam these months??? 😡
Graphics and sound better, as is the enemy AI, searching enemies is a bit off, sometimes you are on them and the y never comes up until you are further away. Bring back the trip wires and mines. Needs more silenced rifle ammo.
For Sniper Elite 6 they should go for a different conflict. We had 6 games with world war 2 as the setting. Animations and graphics don't bother me too much...Sniper Elite always was more of a "AA" game instead of a TripleA one.
It's an independent studio so it makes sense. But I agree - a new conflict could be interesting. I'd like to see them end this saga with a Pacific Theater chapter. Russia is another area that I don't believe has been explored yet for this series. After that, Vietnam as an old Karl would be awesome
@@Nick930 Yes. Russia or a Pacific Theather game would be great. Technically we already have an end for the world war Saga. Sniper Elite 1 is right at the end of WW2 and you play as Karl disguised as a german sniper as he is trying to stop the Soviets from getting german Nuclear technology. But I don't know how much of the first game is stil "canon" to this series. No matter how this arc will end a Vietnam game would be cool, I would even like a game set in the Gulf war, as Karl son.
@@pepeedge5601 SE1 is no longer canon. V2 has been considered as the “first” game for a decade now. And I’m honestly not sure if Rebellion wants to portray Japanese and/or Russians as “bad guys”. With nazis, no one is going to complain whatsoever.
@@csh1921 Shame...I think SE1 had the most interesting premise and story. In a game set in russia the russians would be the good guys. Karl can just help them fight of the invasion. About the Japanese...well they were the "bad guys". The amount of war crimes that they did is absurdly high (and really fcked up don't look it up). Sure not every soldiers was a war criminal, but same is true for the germans. Not all of them agreed with the Nazi ideology, they had to fight for their country, it was not up to their decision.
It's significant improvement in many areas but overall I'd still prefer Sniper Elite 4 w/ extra customization features, graphics enhancements from SE5. The sound work in SE5 is awful, those sounds when you reload rifle clearly feel artificial as if you are thumping a tin can. In terms of gameplay mechanics and overall feel Sniper Elite 4 is still my choice over SE5.
I'll wait until it drops in price or it's included with my ps4 subscription. Se4 is by far my favorite se game followed by Zombie Army 4. The lack of mines is a let down as well as the limited bottles. In se4 it can take several tries before the AI responds the way you need it to. I can't imagine running out of bottles to lure or distract the AI.
SE 4 is quite fun along with ZA 4 but the soundtrack of both games is too repetitive. The only review not mentioned in the video is the soundtrack for these games. What do you think?
I love SE4 and I really wanted to play SE5, but after this I'm not sure if I even want to try. There are some improvements, but the big picture is not that great, I feel like previous part was better
I’m actually in the same boat as you, while animations and textures may be better in 5 , 4 has the best mechanics features and gameplay of any of them. 4 was truly the peak in my opinion
It's my favourite Sniper Elite game, and I think the best thing about it is that it's better than SE4 without actually making SE4 any less worth playing. V2 and SE3 feel like a chore to play after you've played 4 and 5, but even with the improvements 5 has, it's not so much better that it makes playing SE4 feel outdated. It's a great sequel in an interesting way, and I love it.
I have both games and prefer Sniper Elite 4 10x better than Sniper Elite 5 which feels like a big step back to me especially in terms of controls and gameplay
I fully agree with the more linear maps of Sniper 5, disappointed that they felt the need to reduce the players decision as to how they complete each level. The devs did throw in the different start positions but all that does is make large areas less likely to be ventured into so effectively reducing the experience further. I have not allowed invasion mode on my campaigns and have zero desire to invade anyone's campaign, I also never played 1v1 on Sniper 4 or 5 so they are pointless to me. I can say I am fairly disappointed with the over-all experience of Sniper 5, the maps look pretty, but that does not make up for the loss of certain things I loved about Sniper 4. I doubt I will get close to the 300+ hours I have played Sniper 4, I am little over 40 hours after playing it since launch.
I'm not on any high-end pc, but I have both games on series X, and sniper Elite 4 had received patch for series X as well. Graphically, there's definitely a difference in techniques that they're using on five that make it stand out a little more, but overall I really do feel like it's just a little more Gameplay is still unfortunately janky with AI that becomes pretty crappy once you're outside of the actual sniping (which is still great of course) Other than that I really feel like this is only a half step up, the biggest improvement is just the level design with how many more areas you can be creative with your rifle
Can you compare the graphics of 1st trailer of Gotham Knights gameplay with batgirl with the second trailer of gameplay with Nightwing and Redhood? I'd be very grateful man
The level design is definitely the biggest problem 5 has, it's to the point where it can be sometimes difficult to actually snipe in the sniping game
True... i love this game but sometimes i feel i am playing Hitman or MGS until now i have only been able to snipe 5% of my missions... 95% of my games i kill enemies in CQB takedowns

The games are very similar, I think I prefer SE5 but I agree trip mines should be added and barriers should he removed. However crouch running was far to overpowerd and I'm glad it's gone.
@@officeblokemike2938 strangely, I didn’t know this, but Trip mines are actually in the game just in PVP only
@@thermonuclear8335 That is odd.
We should have more DLC missions soon.
4 is pretty perfect imo
i liked 4 but the missions were not as good.
Exactly what I was waiting for. Without having seen it yet, great stuff as always :)
Both are masterpieces. Most fun I've ever had on both games
Sniper Elite 5 in stealth is actually really interesting. I've been doing a pacifist challenge run where i can't raise the alarm and can't kill unless instructed to (I can''t knock them out either unless they have an item necessary for progression) and honestly, it's been quite interesting to do thus far.
I loved Sniper Elite 4
I'm in love with Sniper Elite 5
Totally addictive game
Well done Rebellion on another Classic
Now give us a great Judge Dredd Game please
Sniper Elite 4 felt like the love of my life to me, then SE5 feels like an arranged bride who I cheat with SE4 still.
They rather kept SE4 and build new maps and adding that new weapon customisation system only and the game would have been greater !
@@ad3mn Cuck
the biggest problem is that they removed crouch running... WHY? and also they butchered the iron sights for EVERY GUN. But the axis invasion is pretty cool
Looked this up just to see it uploaded 40 minutes ago, perfect timing Nick :)
I've spent little time anywhere else since its release.
i was mesmerized when i saw the water physics in 5
Yeah. They're a bit exaggerated. But it looks cool still. WAY better than SE4's crappy white ripple texture
Your worst enemy in Sniper Elite 5 is vegetation.
The sound quality is better in SE5, no contest. They literally recorded the gun sounds from the actual firearm irl.
Damn real life has some shitty sound design then, god should update it.
They do that in most games these days.
I've played 5, but I think 4 is what I really need to play from reading the comments. 😮
I really enjoyed your video! Your pros and cons seem very fair and even. Sniper Elite is one of my favorite game series of all time, and your video just made me more excited to play it!
i actually really love the new game. feels like a good upgrade
Ive played through the game on hard and its really fun, it makes it so much more satisfying to play on hard, you have to worry about the sound range on supressors and stuff and it feels really rewarding to stealth
Is it true the levels are much smaller than 4’s levels?
Great video Nick!
Love your videos, but do baked lightning equal worse lightning now? If you’re not doing very interactive environments or a dynamic time of day you can get much better results.
No - baked lighting can work very well. But in this particular instance - it's not great. Some ambient light will bleed straight through walls ( i had an example of this that I forgot to include)
And for a game that requires you to sit and wait a lot - a dynamic time of day would've been very cool to see implemented.
Not that bad for me.
They've updated it.
thanks for making this video, my good sir
Sniper Elite 5 is good but the amount of invisible walls and small obstacle impossible to climb over even though it looks easy to do irl is absolutely ridiculous!
Sniper elite v is my new favourite game, the axis invasion mode is a great new addition to the game
It is just an absolutely fun game, love the entire series.
As much as I am enjoying Sniper Elite 5, Italy in SE4 was a lot better than France in SE5.
Nope.
SE 5 looks like a great step up in almost every way from the previous game though I'm kind of conflicted on the weapon sounds. They both sound great but SE 4's come across as more impactful sounding. Idk, maybe that's just me 🤷
Yeah, SE 4 sounds better
@@anonymousinfinido2540 they used real gun sounds in SE5 so SE5 is better
@@roskcity oh, I guess, I like Guns better with bass 😅

Hello nick30 love the channel
For some reason I got sniper elite 4 on the switch and on the switch I am so good at shooters idk why, but it’s actually not bad on the switch. Maybe some texture issues, but that isn’t the games fault.
Why I prefer 4 to 5
.They have removed the ability to crouch and run at the same time :(
.There is no option to turn off the red hitbox when scoping
.snipers are too loud even with suppressed ammo so I find myself using the pistol a lot more
.The maps look great but it gets irritating with the hedges being in the way, 4 didn't have this problem as much
.Feels like stealth kills are being prioritized over sniping kills.
.Controls feel a bit off
Sniper elite 4 was my favourite game for a long time to the extent where I went back and completed EVERYTHING.
Nothing I enjoy more than a cup of tea and a good old graphics comparison video! Life is good.
12:05 Did they forget to put in environment sound in SE5 ? It's almost dead silent. Looks like a fantastic game anyway that I'm going to enjoy when the time is right.
as someone who love level design the first level is crucial even tho you're not being told direct mecanic the way it's arrange and rythm are what develloper consider an introduction to them and quite frankly ... sniper elite 5 is amazing at making you understand one thing: NO MORE LONG RANGE which is an absolute shame!
in se4 the first thing you learn you can do once the movement tutorial is over "oh yeah you see that objective on the other side of the map? you can hit it! and even better if you squint real hard: you'll also see the explosive we set beside it!"
while sniper elite 5 says: "it's a bunker antena get inside and get your welrod out"
and i don't know it kind of bums me out i got it in the PC game pass but i'll be honest i won't invest in any of its DLC
Love your comparison's awesome videos and work👍🌟💯😃
Wow, I'm impressed how they improved graphics in detail, whereas the lightning is still outdated and at prior cross gen level.
Yes, authentic is easier cause you have focus which is like instinct in Hitman. Also in Spy Academy you can get a 1500m shot.
I waited to buy SE5 until I upgraded my gpu. I am not disappointed at all and SE2 remains one of my all time favorites. Too early for me to really judge the 5th edition, but so far, I am really impressed.
9:46 How does this work in SE5 then?
SE4: Swap weapons on the field and they can be refilled with ammo normally. This drops your currently equipped weapon
SE5: Enemy weapons are temporary pickups. You use the ammo on that gun then drop it on the ground. It does NOT replace your equipped weapons. Once you swap to one of your owned weapons, it drops that enemy weapon on the ground
@@Nick930 Ahh, ok! Thanks for the clarification. 🙃
I love this franchise and your videos too mate!
I played it for the first time on 9 August 2022 and its great despite some changes
Everything looks like good improvements, everything besides the map designs.
How? The map design is great.
Am I the only one who loves the map design?
You didn't mention one of the biggest changes that affects the sniping - the addition of small white lines that show you where your bullet will go even with all assists disabled on highest difficulty. Those were not there in SE4, so you needed to figure it out for yourself in the shooting range.
This.
I still feel like SE3 is new even though it came out in 2014
I seriously hate the COD Vangard style frankenguns in 5.😤 The only thing I like more in 5 are the non-lethal options. One level and I was done with playing Funnel level entrapment 5🙄. Thanks Gamepass for saving me $50.👍
Thanks you for this comparison. I couldn’t decide what to download now already know.

Great video. I would like to see a history of sniper elite that could be very interesting
Karl in sniper elite 5 actually looks human sniper elite 4 Karl just looks like... A video game character
Axis invasion stopped me from completing the first mission twice
Side note: I HATE it when UA-cam says in the corner that the video is 1080p while I can clearly see it's 480p! What's the problem with UA-cam these months??? 😡
He even did hair transplant after 1943
Graphics and sound better, as is the enemy AI, searching enemies is a bit off, sometimes you are on them and the y never comes up until you are further away. Bring back the trip wires and mines. Needs more silenced rifle ammo.
The AI is better in SE4. So are the animations.
Able to vault over more walls and climb more consistently.
Lies. The animations and AI are worse. And SE5 has more "parkour".
Se5 is a gorgeous looking game imo. The maps are really nice too.
It kinda feels like they slapped hi res textures and expected that do make the game looks way better.
@@Nick930
Yes.
@@csh1921
Shame...I think SE1 had the most interesting premise and story.
Not all of them agreed with the Nazi ideology, they had to fight for their country, it was not up to their decision.
i think the game is about WW 2 and i think they should stick to it. i want to see a sniper elite 6 set in russia or in the japan islands.
@@churichurinfunflais5269 never came to mind, tbh. I always listen to my own music. I'll have to check it out 🙂

I love SE4 and I really wanted to play SE5, but after this I'm not sure if I even want to try. There are some improvements, but the big picture is not that great, I feel like previous part was better
It was for sure
I’m actually in the same boat as you, while animations and textures may be better in 5 , 4 has the best mechanics features and gameplay of any of them. 4 was truly the peak in my opinion
I love your videos! I was wondering if you could make a video on SnowRunner PS4 vs SnowRunner PS5 or perhaps vs MudRunner as well.
Question, how did you get graphics option in SE4, mine is not showing anything like that
PC Release has graphic settings. If you're on console, you won't see anything like this
Didn't know how much the graphics improved until they were compared like this.
04:46 is that tobey Maguire as carl in sniper elite 5 ????
I want to be able to enter the sniper elite world as agent 47.
SE5 has way better sound and gun modification mechanics. I don't like the forced close quarters missions as much. It feels a lot like hit man in WW2 😅
Hi Nick.
TLoU Part 1 trailer just got released. Can we expect to see a great Direct Comparison between it's footage and the original title? :-)
Great video
Sniper elite 5 is so awesome I am so hooked love it
I have both games and prefer Sniper Elite 4 10x better than Sniper Elite 5 which feels like a big step back to me especially in terms of controls and gameplay
I remember playing the first SE and thinking “This game has potential if it were designed a bit differently”
The 2005 sniper elite has a special place in my heart. I would like to play the first one again...
I didn’t play either, but now I’m wondering if I should play 4 or 5 first. 5 is getting shade, but I can’t tell
Play 4 and skip 5.....it is awful!
Both are free on gamepass and that's how I played both. But I did end up buying SE4 ultimate edition for 5€ before SE5 released.
great work as usual lol
It looks like a high res remaster of an old game rather then a new game
Finally, a good WW2 game. I was having the best time playing this game. ANYWAYS, nice video nick.
I enjoyed playing them both, but at the time, I remember having more fun with the game mechanics in SE4.
Damn your boring. The invasion mode is fun af.
I'm not on any high-end pc, but I have both games on series X, and sniper Elite 4 had received patch for series X as well.
Graphically, there's definitely a difference in techniques that they're using on five that make it stand out a little more, but overall I really do feel like it's just a little more
Gameplay is still unfortunately janky with AI that becomes pretty crappy once you're outside of the actual sniping (which is still great of course)
Other than that I really feel like this is only a half step up, the biggest improvement is just the level design with how many more areas you can be creative with your rifle
I think you missed the most important thing , THE X RAYS
Nah. Just didn't bring it up because youtube restricts ads for that stuff. Had it happen when I covered zombie army 4.
Can you compare the graphics of 1st trailer of Gotham Knights gameplay with batgirl with the second trailer of gameplay with Nightwing and Redhood? I'd be very grateful man
I prefer the weapons customisation on 5. But the gameplay seemed better on 4.
The Sniper Elite games are adult puzzle games
If only talk about the play part, not tge outlooking, which one is the best?
