- Happy New Year everyone! Today I'm sharing with you some advices of how to sketch more often, and sneak peak at some of my art journal pages from 2022. I will upload a full sketchbook tour of all my 2022 sketchbooks soon. The second part of this video is about my full process in real time speed, sketching the winter evening sky outside my window in Montreal (from late November).
🎨 Materials I used:
Staedtler 0.7mm fine liner pen
Etchr watercolors (24 half pans)
Speedball Handbook watercolor journal (140 lbs)
Holbein Water Brush (large tip)
Deserres water brush (Large tip)
🎨 I'm teaching online classes every week. Check them out in my Ko-Fi Shop:

I just love listening to you speak about sketching. I think of how Bob Ross was so beloved, and I feel like you have many of the same endearing qualities - so calming and encouraging and positive. You have a unique way of speaking and expressing yourself and I’m so grateful you choose to share it with us 💖
Oh thank you! ☺️
Enjoyed the comprehensive account of your work process. Thanks
I like your interiors with people...like at a coffee shop best.
The sky is really amazing!
I'm quiet a beginner. I always wanted to start a sketchbook and I had started my first pages when I found your UA-cam and that was the really start to draw and paint almost every day with just ordinary, dayly topics. Thank you!!!
Thanks for the idea, I think it would be fun to try to do a 'view from the window' maybe once a week, to see the changes through the year.
Ha ha! I wonder if I was the one who left the excuses comments on your video! It is cold outside and dark inside and they are my usual go-to excuses!
Thanks Becky for another inspiring video.
Thank you becky! I love your positive, encouraging and instructive videos. I am working on my third watercolor art journal where i draw/paint farm scenes from around our small farm. It will be great to leave my grandchildren some day. :)
I want a life like this

You are welcome Karen!
Happy New Year 🎉 I appreciate the helpful tip about laying down the weaker color first before the stronger color so they don’t bleed. I will try that with my next sketchbook painting. Thanks for posting this video. Take care.

Hello to you young lady
BECKY please tell me what type of sketchbook you use and the type of pen you sketch with. I love your work and it's very inspirational. I haven't sketched before yet watercolor among mixed media are my specialties. Thanks for sharing!❤❤❤
The materials I use are usually in the description area of each video. Thank you for your appreciation!
Feedback: 'Foliage' is a singular word. When referring to the mass of leaves we say 'foliage'.. Also when you use the word 'Prism' I don't see a prism but I do see boxes. I cannot understand what you mean by 'prism'.
I think Becky is referring to a geometric prism (not an optical prism), which is a polyhedron, meaning all faces are flat. No curved sides.
I have been meaning to look up the definition of prism because I also was confused, but turns out I just had an incorrect and hazy definition in my own mind of what a prism was. The definition of the word prism is “a solid shape bound on all sides by plane faces...The top and bottom faces are identical and are called bases. A prism is named after the shape of these bases. ” So you can have differently shaped prisms- triangular prisms, rectangular prisms, etc. etc. So interesting!
I find very educational the real time painting you do.
Do you usely paint with sketchbook flat on table or with inclination?
Thank you. I usually paint flat on table or on my lap.
I CAN’T FIND SPEEDBALL BOOK…..
You can find it on Amazon I think.
