The walk-throughs are very helpful, Liz. It's nice to see all types of page layouts at a glance. It's especially helpful when you talk through the mindset of a particular page.
I love this. When I camp with my hubs and kis I alway have a small sketch book and keep a story of my trips. Been doing this for years. But THIS IS WONDERFUL AND INSPIRING! More p,ease.
such a nice idea isn't it and some reflections and observations - for instance if you sketch a tree, read up about it and write about it, so you get to learn at the same time
I only started art of any form about a month ago. Today was the first time I saw your channel. So refreshing, especially to see the Bible verses sprinkled throughout your journals. I'm a believer and want to start something like this. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
Love your sketchbooks Liz! So inspirational and educational. I totally agree with you that "putting a boarder around a sketch does wonders". It saved many of my "not so great" pages.

Of course we’re interested in seeing more of your work! Please make this type of videos whenever you have time! 💕
So let me get this right... you completed the whole sketchbook in a month's time - right? IMPRESSIVE!!! Especially cuz your drawings are sooo good. (So is your handwriting.) Congratulations - hope to see your next finished sketchbook. Thanks for showing.
Awesome. I am terrible at drawing but can sketch pathetically. I’m going to glom your daily date title block. Did you design? If so if someone asks me about it I’ll refer to the Liz Steel date block. Warm wishes, kev
Finally had time to eat ch this video from start to finish. It was incredibly inspiring. While I have wanted to get back to my sketchbook, I have let life get in the way. No more! 2022, even though it is February, here I come.
You came up on my feed today and what a joy it is! Your sketchbook is divine. Next I'm going to spend a few hours watching anything you've posted. Thank you!
This is the most interesting sketching journal book I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot😊. Something made me feel close to your lovely drawings and your page structure. Simply luv it!
This is so lovely 😍 I like all the details and the beautiful teapots so much and how you include the writing. It was such a joy for me watching your video - thanks a lot!
I love the color charts at 1:36 - 2:06! Of course everything else too, but the combinations of colors, with information of pigments, fascinate me to no end. My sketchbooks have a lot of color mix experiments too, (not sketches very much, I'm afraid) but I'm not as disciplined as you, I change the colors in my palette(s) often and so don't get the intuitive knowledge or touch how to get the exact color I want. But I love to play with colors! And to see how other people do the same. Your 6 color palette is interesting, I'll try it. Thank you for interesting sketchbook tour, and for all the beautiful tea cups! Greetings from Finland!
Love this look-see through your big ol' sketchbook! I love that you have scripture beginning each day, the only way to start the day for me too! I can't wait to see you go through the new small sketchbook!
My goodness those are beautiful!! I love that large size!! I can definitely feel a difference of freedom of movement when I'm using large vs small paper...but either still work. But I hope I can quickly sketch that well...wow!! Just beautiful!!
It's very inspiring. All of us have material to sketch all around us, but for some reason it's still difficult to think of what to draw in a book like this. I love the Scripture verses thrown in, and the faint lines you've written them on. Feels very personal. Thank you for sharing.
This was such a fantastic journey through your sketchbook, Liz! Thank you for sharing it. (And of course I'd love to see the next one!) I'm in an A4 now, having started several years ago in a pocket-sized Moleskine watercolor album, and I'm loving the space. Might need to look into your sketchbook design course, though, as sometimes it's intimidating having so much room 😄. Cheers! -Anne
Thanks, as Always, for sharing your recently finished sketchbook, Liz!!!! I got lots of good tips and new inspiration; especially love your color mixes right on the page. I have benefited so much from joining your courses and livestreams over the past 2 years. It's inspired me to sketch something daily.
Just came across your video. How very inspiring! I am sort of at a block. This is a wonderful way to get me working and painting without stressing. I do some sketchbook work, but randomly. I love how you incorporate the text with the image, Lovely, Lovely. Thank you!
Yes, do more walk throughs! Not only do I enjoy the art but as I probably won't be traveling to Australia any time soon (😔) its a really cool travelog as well!
I was so excited to sit down with my coffee and watch this tour of your large sketchbook! I absolutely love your trees and your color swatches... I just love your loose style. Thank you for sharing!
I just discovered you and I’m SO inspired to start sketching every day! How fun! So cool that you found a sketchbook that has good enough paper but not so good that you feel like you have to be precious. That’s where I get stuck! That $75 Fabriano cotton sketchbook I saved up to buy is NEVER going to get filled! 😂
I used to be really precious about it, but realised that I was avoiding "ruining" good paper with simple everyday sketches / doodles and then not actually using the nicer paper. If monthly costs are less than the price of a packet of cigarettes, I'm in the winners zone (I quit that addiction ages ago, by the way), I'm still paying less out than I used to, and a sketching habit is far better than a smoking one.
@@mattsadventureswithart5764 i love that! Congrats on quitting, sketching is a much better habit! I realized that I spend so much on candy and sweets and that money could go towards paint tubes or other supplies so I swapped!
Super fun to see and hear your process, Liz. I have graduated to a "larger" sketchbook (5.5 x 8"!) from my usual tiny ones. One day I will try a real big book! It's all about experimentation and learning, which you so inspire. Thank you.
I am so glad your back. I live on the South Coast NSW and enjoy daily sketching. (I work in a Botanical gardens).. Your layouts though are incredible. Thanks for sharing your passion.
Liz - you inspire me so much! I’m currently participating in your Foundations course (except I haven’t posted any work yet but it’s coming soon) and I’m totally loving this course. I am somewhat new to sketching but seeing your work and hearing your ideas just gives me so much encouragement and enthusiasm to get out there and do more. I’m using an Alpha paperback book but it would be nice to have a hardcover. I may have to try one of those spiral ones myself. Thank you so much for what you do!
Thanks Terri! I hope that you will start sharing your work into the Foundations course - the group is SO supportive and will encourage you! Hardcovers are easier to use but weigh more so overall for everyday sketchbooks I use softcover as carrying a lighter sketchbook makes a big difference.
Love your gum leafs and drawings. So inspiring. I just started my sketchbook as a way to stay creative while travelling Australia. Nothing to show yet but I really enjoy it. Thank you for sharing your beautiful sketchbook ♥ Cheers from currently Northern NSW
I really like the how big that book is! It’s sometimes nice to have the extra real estate and the freedom it offers. I’m still bouncing between 5x7 and 8x6. I love the spiralbounds and I haven’t tried drawing across the spine. I know I don’t enjoy the Beta portrait 8x6 right now and I can’t wait to be done with it. Can’t decide what size to use next. I’m mid way thru my Zeta and Beta.. time for start restocking 😃
This is phenomenal! It gives me so many helpful and wonderful ideas (I’m a beginner)! Thank you- I can’t wait to check out more of your videos! I love it all!! 😊
I am trying to figure how to combine Bible study and sketching. Otherwise I tend to skip one or the other! I love how you combine everything in your life. God, relationships, activities, stuff, journaling, art. Lovely.
Thank you so much for sharing! Beautiful, informative, and fun! I struggle with watercolor on that paper and need to return to cotton, but your paintings are lovely!
My experience is that when I do art people laugh. Just mention my sketch of a goldfish and my daughter will be in tears laughing. Of course she drew a better goldfish and if someone new to the joke asks why she’s laughing, she’ll draw my goldfish from memory. Typical response “That’s a goldfish?” Followed by more laughing. I just say whenever I doodled in the classroom the nun would strongly encourage me to stop. Thank you for your wonderfully insightful, thought provoking, and personal narrative filled with tips and best practices. I’ll send my daughter a link and remind her of my infamous goldfish.
I will. I dug out an old sketch book today. Because it is not 'precious', I hope to be a much more relaxed sketcher/watercolourist. Thanks again for the inspiration. I hope to be in one of your workshops soon.
I’m glad UA-cam recommended you to me I just subscribed, and 👍🏻🥰 it was fun your drawing and your hand writing was amazing, keep it coming LiZzY dear ❤
Miss, you have the most fascinating sketchbook I have ever seen. This is just an idea have you ever thought of illustrating an entire graphic novel? I also like your handwriting, it's very good.
So enjoyed viewing your beautifully designed art journal. Love too, how you date pages, and your lettering/ numbers, for dates/ days. Is there any suggestion of where to learn , though I’d guess you’re self taught because your writing is amazing!
Do you want to see more walk-throughs like this? Are there aspects of my work that you want to see new videos about?
I’d like to see active sketching/painting, especially with your 6 color palette
The walk-throughs are very helpful, Liz. It's nice to see all types of page layouts at a glance. It's especially helpful when you talk through the mindset of a particular page.
Love it, love it ....love it,
reminds me of my walks around Sydney when I visited my son...... hope to be living there someday soon.🙂
Yes!
Yes I would love to see more walk throughs!
I love this. When I camp with my hubs and kis I alway have a small sketch book and keep a story of my trips. Been doing this for years. But THIS IS WONDERFUL AND INSPIRING! More p,ease.
I love how your sketch book is not just sketches but like a diary. Beautiful.

It’s so satisfying seeing a large book completely filled out! I want to try a big sketchbook now. Beautiful sketches and layout. 👌☺️
Thanks! It was super fun to work this large. I hope you will give it a go 🙂
Watching this made me so inspired. I really love what you do. Thanks for sharing and inspiring the world. You’re such a great soul❤

Such a fun variety of sketches! I'm obsessed with maps so really enjoy seeing how you add them to your book. I think I'll give that a go!
Thanks Sue - I love maps too!
beautiful, watching this is like my therapy !!
Great to see some homegrown content Liz. Very helpful and enjoyable to watch. Thankyou and keep the videos rolling. From Toowoomba Queensland 😊

Great sketchbook! Love the scriptures you use too! Thanks for sharing 🤩
Loved the tour Liz.....we can't get enough of it. Your work is so inspiring. Thank you. Will patiently wait for the tour of the "small"er sketchbook.
Thanks Prashanta! Small book is being filled up at a rapid rate... so more to come soon! 🙂
I love it all, but particularly love the pics that extend across the spiral.

My goodness those are beautiful!! I love that large size!! I can definitely feel a difference of freedom of movement when I'm using large vs small paper...but either still work. But I hope I can quickly sketch that well...wow!!
Just beautiful!!
I liked your sketches of the dishes. The little shadows make them jump off the page which is neat.
How inspiring is this walk-through!!?? Oh my gosh, thank YOU!
Loved the walk down memory lane in Parramatta and surrounding area! Thank you
Your style is so grounding and relaxing. I've been wanting to start a daily record sketchbook and this is exactly the kind of thing I was thinking!
Heart of Kentucky. Love your sketch book drawings. Katie.
Love your work especially your teapots! Great job!❤
This was so much fun to watch, thank you
Awesome usual tour. Would love to see more.❤❤❤
I'm doing almost monthly livestreams to go through my sketchbooks. So check out the Live tab to watch the replays
