It's really wonderful that there's been such a shift towards realising things like this. We're not defined by our past, our the past of our ancestors. The more we acknowledge this and actively break those cycles the more we can healing we can create!
Found this in a group I'm a part of and I think now more than ever, that we are in a position to do more than we ever have and getting rid of self-narratives seems like a good way to shed unnecessary conditioning.
The chemistry of the brain is so interesting! I really wish people would talk about this stuff more, how thoughts and feelings are all just chemical reactions that are 100% controllable through practice!
If it wasn't for the heat that radiates from power houses like this, we would all be a lot worse off. Thank you Cynthia for your raw and powerful story
It doesn't define us, but there are so many destructive patterns instilled on us as we grow up, I love that this woman is talking about how to break them.
I feel like this sort of stuff isn't spoken about enough, how we all have this trauma and pain that lingers in our DNA and can influence our lives without us even knowing it!
The drive that her family needed to survive really shines through in how she embraced her experience in therapy. Yes, they may be the reason she was in therapy, but they are also the reason she gained so much from it. Love this.
Hearing this, I got to thinking if this is our next stage of evolution? Not a physical adaptation to our environment, but an emotional and psychological one. Each generation grows and learns and shifts. This talk really highlights that we as humans have so much capacity for growth and we can tend the soil for future generation’s growth in our present.
I think a lot of people sort of cling to the bad things that happen to them because it's easier to stay in that victim mindset and use it as an excuse to not do the hard work and evolve as a person.
Isn't it interesting how negative people from older generations were? I get that they went through two wars and the depression and all of that stuff but man!

I love approaching this concept from a neurological perspective! It is all just chemicals going off in your brain.
Yes
it really gives some perspective
The past teaches us though.
It truly does. Then, we get to decide how to move forward. Thanks for your comment.
Well... it doesn't HAVE to define us, no. But it's kind of important to remember how things came to be, isn't it?
It is. I am grateful for my life and the beautiful changes that have occurred.
I think a lot of people sort of cling to the bad things that happen to them because it's easier to stay in that victim mindset and use it as an excuse to not do the hard work and evolve as a person.
Yes. We are responsible for changing our lives.
