      made my shadow warriors (they already had hooded heads and enough knives/sowrds) led by my old metal Glade Lord with Bow.

      @pel thoron just convert them to sisters of the watch but what bothers me is that they were being sold in shops 2 months ago with the Age of Sigmar logo stamped all over the box art.

    There was a rumor engine posted on the Warhammer Community website showing what looked like a Waystone, so there might still be hope for a stand-alone Wanderer faction

    The Wanderers are tree huggers and the Slyventh did not consent

    I really hope they expand more on these Old World subfactions, especially the Wanderers

    The fact that they're not integral to the city's is kind of keeping to their point though. You said it yourself they are Wanderers without a home and I'm sure elves wouldn't feel very in place with dwarves and humans. So I would wager that they are both aware that the cities of Sigmar can never be their true home and at the same time their true home rejects them.

      My thoughts too. They don't really fit in, by design. Which kinda sucks, cuz damn, by far my favorite theme of fantasy.

    The Sylvaneth should have welcomed the Wood Elves back like lost children. Imagine how the lore could have been weaved. Even the goddess herself walked away, for how long?

    I expect these factions to be expanded upon at some point. The COS book does a great job of giving the orphaned sub-factions a home while they work out how to expand or address them in the future.
    I expect future branch offs in the future. Kinda like how Nighthaunt while starting off mainly in legions of Nagash got expanded to their own battletome with new models but can still be Legions of Nagash for the most part. A similiar here. I can see a Freeguild or Wanderer battletome in a year or two that adds new models but still allows them to function in Cities of Sigmar should you choose.

    YAASSSSSSS! Thank you for doing this video! Wanderers were my first army in AoS and I loved the lore that they were without a home and constantly trying to redeem themselves. I saw in Cities of Sigmar that Alarielle now accepts them in the Living City, but I turned away from that and made my Wanderers part of a mixed aelf list (PT, W, SB) that acts as a scouting/patrol force outside of Tempest's Eye.
    Please do Shadowblades next!

    I think part of the reason they move through other realms is too restablish broken waylines to return life magic to the other realms as well.
    But yeah, the Sylvaneth and the Wanderers relationship may be beyond repair. This quote out of the novella Heart of Winter I think perfectly sums up their relationship when a waywatcher is describing a neighbouring Sylvaneth glade and comments that “they (the sylvaneth) hate my kind even more than they hate humans.” And apparently that’s saying something.
    Sure they were a dreadwood glade but it goes to show how little in regard they are too the sylvaneth. But also what was interesting it isn’t entirely one-sided. Showing how certain wanderers are developing a mutual dislike towards sylvsneth for their bitterness.

    I'm grateful that I painted/made my Wanderers in the Realm of Life. Not only for utilizing the rules of Hyish, but for also adding some extra depth to my idea that these nomads have an avenue for redemption and a clear goal to seek it through their achievements in standing for the goals that their deity (Alarielle) represents.

    "There's not a lot of lore here" seems to sum up a lot of AoS, outside of a few factions. I know the game's still in a growth phase, but it would be nice if they upped the pace a little.

    For a wandering army, having Eternal Guard which have 3+ save and 2 attacks of 2+ to hit and 3+ to wound when not moving is a bit of a mixed massage.

    • @Andy-yw4fc
      @Andy-yw4fc 4 роки тому +2

      I view it as the fast hunters (wild riders, sisters of the thorn) work more to rout the enemy towards the eternal guard as a trap (sort of like the short story provided in the book).

    This might be kinda boring but as a former Empire/current Free Guild player I want to see a video that focuses on the Free Guilds. I love the idea of normal humans going toe to toe with bloodthirsters armed with only a halberd.

  • @voxkine9385

    Do you feel there is a disconnect between CoS on the table and CoS in the lore?
    For me, I love the lore, but the lore doesn’t translate to the table imo. The Warden King, for instance, has abilities tied to the “dispossessed” keyword, same for every other hero, making the tabletop miniatures really only synergistic within their own subfaction, despite the lore of “everyone came together to figure out how to take it all back”.
    For instance, I’m currently building a Tempest Eye list and decided to go with the Warden King as my leader. His buffs all focus exclusively on dispossessed, making them immune to battle shock and making them better at fighting. Same for the Runelord. So, even though the dispossessed are supposed to have been working side by side, hand in hand with the freeguild, Kharadron Overlords, etc for hundreds of years, they still only care about themselves. All that cooperation in the lore has not really shown on the battlefield.

      I agree, but at the same time, I know why.
      This book mostly caters to people who have armies already, you're coming in from fantasy with your dwarf army (as I was), and you don't really want to need to buy a bunch of humans and elves to make your army work properly. Like, I have some 1900 points now of Dwarves, and will probably only grab one or two human/elf things to fill that out.

    • @knighttemplaroftentacult7123
      @knighttemplaroftentacult7123 3 роки тому

      @@TheRatsintheWalls Wouldn't call them generically stereotypical though. High Elves? For sure. Wood Elves? Nah, at least not after closer inspection. They were the most cool elves out there. Not even to mention how beautiful the units are.

    • @knighttemplaroftentacult7123
      @knighttemplaroftentacult7123 3 роки тому

      @@TheRatsintheWalls Not like that. This is why they didn't make it: most people look and be like "Oh, another wood elf, we know them - boring", when in reality, the Athel Loren and it's elves are most unique WOOD Elves I've ever seen in fantasy. They just needed a different light, but Games Wokeshop decided to just cut them... Well, not like that was their first stupid decision, lol.

      Living city can take 1 in 4 units as slyvanneth. Depends what You want from slyvanneth. You either go for cheap dryads, very shooty or smash kurnoth hunters or go hello butt fun with a spirit of durthu and use your ambush army power. Treelord could also help with a magic build. Hope that helps. I do living city too.

      I never understood how nomadic archers aelves had their horse archers dropped in glade riders. Especially when they still use them in their art. But Cities has given us a new leash on life and a lot of potential conversions/counts as for a lot of models.

    I’m curious.. if the sylvaneth hate wanderers so much, why are they available as allied units? Is there any lore to back that up, or is it just because they both hail from Ghyran?

    • @2Tough

      Not really, but at the end of the day the Sylvaneth hate chaos more. So even if you dont like a sibling, you can team up to get some stuff done if its a big enough problem haha
