      2+Tough the first models I ever painted were old school plastic saurus warriors. These guys are one of my favourites!

    A little tidbit from Soulbound: there's a quest in which the Seraphon are threatening to attack Anvilgard unless the golden plaques they have are returned. When the binding return the plaques to the Seraphon, they turn out to be essentially a photo album of a Slann raising a Stegadon from an egg. The last image being the Slann petting the adult Stegadon and looking contented. As it turns out, this Stegadon was killed in battle, and the Slann wanted the plaques so it could gather the necessary memories to will it back into existence. The night the quest ends, there's a meteor shower (obviously referencing the Seraphon) and the sound of a Stegadon's roar calls through the night. A nice little fleshing out of the Slann as characters, and something I'd love to see more of.

    I like the story idea that THE BEST wizards aren't some scholarly high elf, not some Tzeentch sorcerer, but these floating-around frog dudes.

    Even with the new battletome, the Slann are still among the most tragic beings in AoS lore. Mostly cut off from their own kind, doomed to eventual extinction because the spawning pools don't replenish their numbers, but still proud and defiant and ready to face their Great Enemy head-on. These guys can give the Duardin a run for their money in the iron will department. And for that, they have both my pity and my respect.

    I absolutely love how some of the options on the newest Slann kit allows it to be decked out in the Slann's own face and have skink servants waiting on them hand and foot. If they weren’t so emotionless I’d make the single most egotistical Slann there is.
    "I’m older than all of the non-Chaos gods. Humility isn’t an option warmblood, it's a punchline. Enjoy some Saurus Guard, they’ve been wanting a new chew-toy. Now mortal, try not to disappoint them by breaking _to_ quickly now…"

    You do a very good job of giving players a reason to care about their army. For many of us, it isn't a matter of how powerful is this army, or are the points worth this unit. Those things may be important, but if your imagination can transform your miniatures into a story, it is so much more enjoyable and memorable.

    • @2Tough
      @2Tough  6 років тому +2

      That is always the goal with these videos :) I play a bottom tier army (Slaves to Darkness) but you better believe that all my heroes are named and I care about every unit on the board!

    Loving these "week of" series, they're great!
    It's hard to find good lore vids on AoS that're both informative and charismatic but getting whole mini-series going this in depth? It's the best! I've said it before man but keep up the amazing work :)
    My request for the next one when you can - I'd love to see some in depth lore about the Beastclaw Raiders and Gutbusters :D

    If you haven't already, you should read the short story "Dying Star" on the malign portens page. It actually features a Skink Starpriest birthing new saurus warriors from a spawning pool seemingly independent from his Slann. I think GW i starting to pull away from the idea that Saurus, Skinks, Kroxigors etc. are mere memories.

    • @2Tough
      @2Tough  6 років тому

      yep! have a note about that in the comments and video description. It came out after I had recorded these :) Thank you though!

    • @Zerohorde
      @Zerohorde 6 років тому

      Ahh, i see. I find it really interesting how GW is now muddling the origins of the lesser Seraphon races. 'Remembering' them into existence is cool and all, but i like the "daemon of chaos who can exist and act independently" approach more. There are even some hints that the Seraphon have an empire in Azyr, which would be awesome.

    • @SophiaAstatine
      @SophiaAstatine 6 років тому

      WAIT A SECOND! Spawning pools?! The Seraphon can't make Spawning Pools. Unless the difference between the Old Ones and the Slann has diminished greatly. Which I wholeheartedly approve of.

    Well thought out long term plans is true, but like most factions, malign portents has led seraphon to desperate measures. Not trying spoil the short story.

      Don't forget the reason they're so good at this cosmic game of Chess is that they're not prideful, they know when to cut their losses with an old strategy and adapt their plans to new circumstances. And that combination of experience, intelligence and patience is what makes them so terrifying to have as an enemy, moreso than even their magical prowess, there's a reason why even the Gods treat these guys with a wary respect.

      It was total war warhammer that was my hook so I actually started off reading about old world lore first. Very cool, particularly Mazdamundi! Would be great to flesh out AoS Slann lore to the same extent where they feel like actual characters rather than just background.

    you know, the fact that daemons just exist in age of sigmar makes sense when you realize that the criteria for there existence in fantasy and 40k is a sufficent level of bacground unreality/magic. the realms are made of magic.

    - In an upcoming DnD game (the first time I had ever played Dnd, and the game has been running 2yrs with us all only making lvl 5) I will be switching to this race www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Slann_(5e_Race) as well as class too a wizard necromancer and my Brother (who is Been DM for 5ish years and is running me and more active friends through the Strahd module) will take over as Lore Bard and Face of the Party. However I get +2 intelligence and only +1 wisdom instead of 2, and winds of magic is once per long or short rest. I figure since they so old I'm gonna be either true neutral or Chaotic neutral....just not sure yet.

    First time commenting, I have a question about the old ones and "the great plan". Mazdamundi mentioned there's no point in looking at step 2 until step one is done of "the great plan". First step, requires the extermination of lesser races not part of "the great plan". Wasnt it accomplished after the end times?? Arent we now at step two??

    • @2Tough
      @2Tough  6 років тому

      I’ll be perfectly honest with you, I am not very familiar with the WFB lore for Lizardmen. As such, I can’t give a confident answer about the great plan :/

    • @SophiaAstatine
      @SophiaAstatine 6 років тому

      The issue wasn't having to look at step 2, it was looking for step 2. After the Great Catastrophe, the Old Ones had left, and only left their plaques behind to let the remaining Slann, led by the student of Kroak, Mazdamundi, to piece together the plan. However only the First Generation Slann truly knew the Old Ones, and they had all died, with Kroak himself being the last, as he held off Chaos at Itza while the other slanns helped Calador Dragontamer create the Great Vortex. With the sacrifices made by the first generation, the Great Plan was shrouded in mystery.
      However Lord Kroak seems far more active in AoS, scarily so. If the First Slann is now moving about on his own again, I have no doubt the Seraphon are up to some serious business.
