Doug, I'm always impressed with your analysis and breakdowns. I love your Why Is This Cool approach, and you are always pointing out aspects and implications of the lore that I hadn't considered before. That combined with your clear passion for the material and overall positive attitude (something it seems that you and Chapter Master Valrak are the sole arbiters of on UA-cam) makes you my favorite Games Workshop lore guys on the platform. Love it, brother! 👍🏻
From the short stories they post, I remember Greywater fastness has a problem with River/Bog Troggoths living in their canals/sewers, snatching up unsuspecting factory workers. I think it’s interesting that despite their massive defenses, they can’t stop nature from encroaching.
Love your lore videoes, glad to see the Cities getting some love and looking forward to your Wanderers video. I just want to say that the retreat of the Wanderers to Azyr and the abandoning of Alarielle is, in my opinion, only half the story as it is from the perspective of Alarielle and the Sylvaneth. In the core book, we do get a hint of the story from the Wanderers perspective in that it says that the Wanderers were being wiped out by a plague of Nurgles rot. It could be that they had no choice but to leave or cease to exist. If so, then this begs the question: why did Alarielle, Goddess of LIFE, not come to their aid when they were fighting on Her side. Who betrayed whom? There is also the irony that Alarielle Herself abandoned Her own Realm and yet nobody, not even the Sylvaneth, blame Her for that. I just feel there's a bit of a double standard going on and wanted to redress the balance a little bit. (No prizes for guessing which side I'm on. )
Im building a Hammerhal force at the moment so ofcourse the twin tailed city is my favorite right now but I also really like the concept of the Phoenicium. I really hope GW gives the Phoenix Temple an update (kinda like the one the Daughters of Khaine got).
I doubt that the Phoenix Temple will be separated out of this book, but I do hope that at some point more High Elf units will be added. It's kind of strange that we only have the shady Aelves and the tree hugging kind.
So I have a few wood elves back before they were cowards... though I still believe that was some kind of misunderstanding. what really happened well I'm so glad you asked!! I think Sigmar was like ok yall i'm locking up the doors come on lets go! the wood elves were like ya sounds good we'll all fight from there! wait where's the rest of the Sylvaneth? and Sigmar was all who? oh ya well there fine, mostly fine they'll be ya probably fine more or less.... but then it was all we have bigger problems so ya that's how I see it and so when they came back Aerial was all like what happen to YOU guys !!?? and they were like Hey they said you were fine so we got all Siggy with it and now we find out you weren't fine?? but sigmar is a god so we can't get all pithy with him .... yet, but he did kinda make us all look like jerks.... just sayn.... ok so that's my story time thanks for coming .... oh ya the city of life obviously is the best because realm warming is a thing and the grey-water fastness is going to be asked to cut it's carbon emissions in the next big summit ... it will be interesting to see how that goes once the "DRA" (duardin rifle association) gets involved.... hummmm I predict ruff times ahead.
