    From a femur leg lengthening patient with the Precice 2.2 internal nails who will analyze and discuss the proportions of limb lengthening surgery or leg lengthening surgery. The topic of proportions is one of the most frequently asked questions and concerns.
    The main proportions to analyze for leg lengthening surgery are:
    1) InterLimb Ratio (IR) - Tibia:Femur Ratio
    2) Arm to Body Ratio (ABR) - Wingspan:Height Ratio
    3) Leg to Body Ratio (LBR) - Leg Length:Height Ratio
    I will analyze how leg lengthening surgery affects these proportions, what are the optimal proportions, and use myself as an example (i.e. be a human guinea pig).
    I offer services to create your customized mockup photos, so you can see for yourself what your proportions will look like if you were to lengthen x cm femurs or y cm tibias or both.

    I think that while you're going through the lengthening phase you worry a lot more about your proportions because your legs are so skinny due to atrophy and they might look longer because of that reason. But once u get muscle back it tends to look better

    • @HeightJourney
      @HeightJourney  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah, if you look at my wheelchair video in the Introduction Part 1 video, my legs were skinny. My tibia:femur looks a bit disproportionate because I've been doing a lot more workout on my femur muscles than my tibia (calves) muscles, so my femurs are more muscular, and looks bigger. I need to work more on my tibia muscles, so they are about as muscular as my femur muscles and makes them look more proportionate.

    How do you measure total leg length accurately? Im 71 inches tall and just eyeballing it, since I dont have Xray vision to see where the top margin of my femur joint head is, it looks about 36 inches (?). From floor to ASIS its 55% of my height. ASIS is a more easily accessible landmark, do you have any data on that?

      An X-ray with markers is the most accurate measure of your leg lengthens. But you can still get a good estimate without an X-ray. I have a video on this.

      @HeightJourney  2 роки тому

      For those of you not familiar with my blog, I would post my monthly X-rays (around the middle of the month) in consolidation phase. With UA-cam, I will do it a bit differently.
      I had my monthly X-rays on December 16. Consolidation is good as usual. I am allowed to do light athletic activities. I will display my X-rays in my next PT progress video, which should be about a week from now. I want to include some newer exercises and activities in the video since I am in light athletic mode.
      I'm almost done with consolidation. The last consolidation phase is medium athletic activities, which I expect to reach in mid-January. Then the rods removal surgery is not too far away (my surgery was March 18). I will definitely have a lot of informative videos on the rods removal surgery, preparation, and recovery stages coming up.

    Dr I request you to think out of box and come up with some less invasive, less painful method to increase height atleast 1 foot.
    Presently 5 inches are possible but please find out something to add atleast 1month. only problem with current method is that they are painful n risky and also risk to reward ratio is also high.
    Please do something to make it possible, find out a way to add 1 foot to legs atleast.

      While I am not a doctor, I am very educated with leg lengthening surgery (since I have gone through it) and have talked with doctors and experts in this field.
      It would be great to re-engineer our bodies to any way we want, to be the right height, weight, muscularity, athletic, limb lengths, etc... In reality, the human body has limitations. To lengthen the femur (the largest bone that can gain the most length), a max of about 3 to 3.5 inches is possible, because the soft tissues (especially muscles) limits the length. The best leg lengthening technology we have is the Stryde internal nails, which are full weight bearing. The Stryde was recalled in early 2021 and may return in 2023. Another feasible advancement in LL would be to consolidate the bones faster, so the LL patient can recover to normal faster.
      I will be on top of any advancements in limb lengthening. Subscribe to my UA-cam channel so you can be on top of any advancements as well.

    Hi, your videos are amazing. I would like some advice from you please. I plan to get a lengthening of my femurs (my tibia is 36.6cm and my femur is 38.5 approx) my wingspan is 170cm. Im' 165.7 in the morning and 164.3 at night (I don't know why but normal). I'm still very short and I want how many cm I can lengthen in my femur so as not to look too disproportionate. Thank you

    • @HeightJourney
      @HeightJourney  2 роки тому

      If your tibia and femur measurements are correct, you can lengthen your femurs 8cm and still have a 0.787 tibia:femur ratio, which is normal.
      You can have as low as 0.70 tibia:femur ratio after femur lengthening and the T:F ratio is fine. It’s only if it’s excessively out of range (I’m guessing under 0.66) then it can look weird to some people (if they even notice T:F ratio).

    I am thinking of doing this but I am not sure about the numbers. I have read online that the average sitting height is around 0.51 or 51%. So how can the average Leg to body ratio then be 0.50 to 0.52?
    For example me. I am 169.5 cm, my sitting height is 86.5 cm and leg length 83 cm.
    My sitting height is 0.51 which is average but when I follow your model on leg to body I get 0.489 which is below average? So my sitting height is average and my leg length is below average? Both cannot be true

    • @HeightJourney
      @HeightJourney  Рік тому +3

      Sitting height is different from leg length. Your sitting height is measured around the bottom of your hips. Your leg length is measured around the top of your hips.

    • @HeightJourney
      @HeightJourney  2 роки тому +2

      The only way to get an accurate measurement of your femurs and tibias is with an advanced X-ray machine with markers. Also, you don't just walk into an X-ray clinic and order X-rays, like walking into a restaurant and ordering food. You will need a doctor's order for X-rays.
      You can get a rough estimate with a tape measure and press it against your leg. It's easier with the tibias, but with the femurs it's a bit harder because the upper femur ends at the round femoral head (hip joint) that goes into the hip socket of the pelvis. You can still estimate the femur with a tape measure by measuring from the bottom of the femur to the top of the greater trochanter (the bony part of the upper femur that you can feel on the side of your lower hip), then add 0.5 inch or 1.2cm to that length (assuming you are between 5'4" to 5'10").

      @peppesgabello Рік тому +1

      You can measure your tibia length quite accurately because the bones are much more visible. The problem with femurs is that you don't know exactly where they start, you can put a bit of pressure on the side of the leg and find the great trochanter and try to add an inch to the measurement, but it won't be 100% accurate because the top part of our femurs (the part that ''connects'' to the waist) might have different shapes and be more horizontal so less height or much more vertical.
