    Fun fact: "Upper" and "Lower" Egypt are from a time when compasses weren't widespread, so everything was written in context of "upriver" (higher altitude) and "downriver" (lower altitude). Same thing as Burgundy, Bavaria, Silesia and colonial Canada.

    • @liviuadrian1101

      Why would upper & lower mean anything but elevation? What does a compass have to do with it?

    • @Campfire_Bandit
      @Campfire_Bandit Рік тому +44

      @@liviuadrian1101 Since the 1600's north has meant up on a map, however coincidentally 'most' rivers run from north to south, so upper meant north for a lot of cultures before the 1600's made things universal. Egypt is one of the few major cultures that has upper refer to a southern region, so even though it makes perfect sense for them, it goes against what you'd historically think!

      Big cap on all of that my dude. Complete bogus. Rivers run from higher elevation to lower elevation, and there is zero meaningful correlation between elevation and latitude. Certainly not between higher elevation and northerly latitudes. In fact, major European rivers like the Seine, Rhine, Elbe, Oder, and Vistula all run unambiguously south to north, as does the historically legendary Nile, and the Thames runs west to east, as do the Danube, Ganges, Orinoco, Amazon, Yangtze, and Huang He.
      Are you from the US by any chance? Besides Ukraine and Argentina, that's the only region I can find where rivers tend to run more from north to south than any other direction, and the US is notorious for considering itself the global default.

    • @Campfire_Bandit
      @Campfire_Bandit Рік тому +15

      @@PwnEveryBodyI'm actually referring to the river valley civilizations! But the Coriolis effect will naturally direct water to the equator, and because of our current land mass distribution has 68% of land is in the northern hemisphere, you'd expect more rivers to flow south. But even with this stat, we find that a few more civilizations were based on south flowing rivers than raw statistics would imply, so it's a weird trend in human History.

    Polish fans of the total war series kindly ask the channel administrator to add Polish subtitles to all future videos, because they have always been available, and now they are not. We want to follow every video from the upcoming Pharaoh game that we will buy, the problem is that the UA-cam application on phones or tablets does not allow us to translate subtitles into Polish, which means watching your videos using a pc and a web browser, because only there they can be translated . therefore, the reception of your films for Poles who do not speak English well becomes limited. Polish total war fan group is one of the largest in the world and in Europe, so if you add English, German, French, Italian and Spanish subtitles, as it used to be, please do not forget about Polish subtitles. Modders and common players wrapping their heads around how to make a game that was perfectly fine for a decade work again is inexcusable, the lengths you went to, like changing file names just to make fixing your "fixes" even harder goes to show how little you respect your own customers and supporters.
    Whatever your intentions were, these changes will make people move away from TW titles entirely or pirate older versions that still work so they can play the well optimized, mod supported games they love.
    Your cheery on top is Pharaoh, which looks like a low effort cash grab where the pretty graphics and "we brought back mechanics nobody wanted removed :D" are the only things it has going for it. No improvements on age old requests like better collision mechanics or individual entity stats, things that were done better by older titles - fantastical as it may sound. Even calling this title a Saga like everyone knows it is and dropping the price to a less insulting amount wouldn't be enough to restore a shred of the legitimacy you have lost.

Will be kind of nice to have and option not to disband your veteran troops of lower tiers/early game, but switch them to fort garrison troops, with reduced upkeep.

    YUSSSSS!!! I AM SO PLEASE TO SEE THIS! Medieval 2: Total War was a gem with much potential, I still frequent the modding community looking for Kemet mods, as I have a lower end computer and Total War: Rome 2 runs under auspicious circumstance. The fact that some smaller features are returning is lovely, and to see a diverse cast of characters satisfies Maat in me.
    The river feature is so interesting, especially as an aspect of travel, but also for warfare! There was a whole thing in a book I read, I can't remember the author, about how the Kemet had a robust af navy. May have read the wrong book or the wrong info so pls correct if wrong, but it tracks when you think about how in modern times with have smaller patrol and assault craft, that they would count things that we call rafts or even have things similar to canoes (river peeps have em everywhere.)
    Speaking of peeps, can we have them more represented? This was low key post apocalypse: only a few millennia ago, an ice age ENDING wipe a lot of us out, and the fact that the workforce is represented is amazing, I was overjoyed! But the people are just as important as a workforce as they are themselves, just as they are. I would love to know what Heru would have me protect, and what stands to suffer when the things are done, like razing a settlement.
    It was relevant, whole CULTURES imploded around conflicts to stop what nowadays we would call facists. I am so happy with what we have, but this? This is shaping up to be the best total war ever.
    I'll stop now before I make more suggestions, I am just elated at the progress this company has made as artists, and the whimsy of this video was just *chef's kiss*

This is their secondary sort of lower budget team I'd imagine the bigger projects like those are left for the main team which is currently still trapped in the Warhammer dlc cycle. This game isn't responsible for the lack of empire and medieval total wars, it's Warhammer the one holding it back and I would imagine it's the next big title, this one is more in the scale of shogun, thrones of Britannia and other very single conflict focused games. Don't blame them for not getting the games you wanted think how much better it will be that the main studio is the one that will work on maybe the time periods you want. Good job secondary CA studios, using this game to try out new mechanics is a worthwhile risk, though please redo the UI it's very generic.
