Bay: "I'll make him an offer he can't refuse."
Irsu: "BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!!"
SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!!!
Not going to lie, Irsu and Bay have the makings of a Chaos Lord of Khorne and Tzeentch, respectively.
Bay: Deal with me, or deal with him…I’ll give you the choice
The radically different personalities of Bay and Irsu are funnier when you consider how historians used to think they were the same guy.
Yeah that's what Bay wanted us to think. All according to keikaku*.
*translators note: keikaku means plan.
Can't wait to see the Hittite overviews. They fit my playstyle across Total War, heavily armored elite soldiers.
Ya pero parecen más nerfeados en esta entrega, el clima, el coste que tiene en alimento y en bronce, y el desgaste de armadura
*Warhammer fanbase:* We have the most toxic part of the fans.
(Medieval fans appear)
*Warhammer fanbase:* We have the second less toxic part of the fans.
Yeah Medieval fans are legit horrible. I get that they want Med3 but they use their excuse to bash Pharaoh and a lot of what they say are dog-whistling racist comments
It always blows my mind that the like to dislike ratio on Pharaoh videos is what it is, especially months after it was announced. This fanbase went crazy these last few years, such a damn shame.
@@DogKacique right!! To me, all I see is a ton of promise; this game has a bunch of new ideas and systems, is in some ways a return to form, and all of the things that get perfected in Pharaoh will almost certainly end up in Medieval (or whatever history game comes next). Gonna be excellent. I’ve been a TW fan for over a decade, the future looks bright IMO.
Why are medieval fans toxic? It's definitely the most modded and had the best expansion pack. Is it because we would like medieval iii?
@@OniLeafNin Basically because you all can't shut up about it. warhammer dlc announced "Where is Medieval 2" Total war pharaoh comes out" Waah I want Medieval 3". We get it already, stop review-bombing other games and let other people enjoy their non-medieval titles in peace.
i just hope the campaign expansion add that assyria and babylon i cant have a proper bronze age experience without assyria and babylon especially that they are the true winners
Don't forget Elamites and Mycenaean Greece - they were also major cultural groups of Bronze Age. Mesopotamia needs their arch enemy in the east, Hittites needs their great rival on the west.
@@ja3044 Oh yeah. Mycenaean greece is a must in this time period
Can the Pharaoh and Troy maps be combined also, thanks
@@rossevans2261 Probably. It’s believed that the war the Trojan War was based on took place around this time period.
@@genghiskhan6809 It is, although the dates might be off by a couple decades. Thing is I’m curious how such a merging of the two games could work, because Troy was not so much an adaptation of history as it was one the Iliad. I’m not sure, are we convinced that Achilles and Hector were real people, or are they still acceptable as best bets?

They don't have to buy the game..
real total war when
At some point, we need to Babylonia and Assyria.
DLC most likely
That would be awesome, as they had their own stories to tell about the Bronze Age Collapse. It wasn’t just the Eastern Mediterranean civilisations that suffered
@@rory6860 i really hope so. I mean they have Troy map so they can easily do something like Immortal Empires, no idea if by the time of Pharaoh there was still some important power on that area or all of them got obliterared by the Sea Peoples, but that's a huge map portion they shouldn't discard.
Same with Mesopotamia, if the expanded the south area on 3K and added Nanman to it then they can add Assyria and Babylonia to it.
What about the Israelites?
They might come in the DLC
Theyre in the iron age in thr bronze age they were only starting to form from the shasu hixsus canmiets moving to the mountins due to the collapse and the hapiru
The cannites are the hebrews
This game is getting a lot of flak but I think it looks cool. I will like to play the Canaanites, I wonder if Israel will be in the game.
The kingdom didn't exist at this time, so unfortunately no. The Jebusite-controlled Jerusalem should exist though.
@@Potaters12 Plus in the gameplay video we saw Irsu had Habiru militias in his army, Habiru being the Egyptian name for Hebrews
The Kingdoms of Israel and Judah didn't exist at this point (their heyday seems to come after the Bronze Age Collapse). However, Urushalim (the supposed old name for Jerusalem) is indeed a minor faction in the game if the Irsu Showcase is anything to go by
I agree, it’s slowly shaping up. It’s true that the kingdoms of Israel did not yet exist for another century or two, but the Israelites would be residing in parts of Canaan at this point. Going by the Old Testament timeline, this would take place sometime during the Judges period. That would be difficult to simulate, though, since there isn’t a clear faction leader in the way the other factions have. Still would be cool to see them in some form though. Might make more sense in DLC campaigns dealing with a somewhat later time period.
what is it getting flak for and by whom? For not being Medieval 3? and by entitled people for the same reason?
Would be nice of Ammurapi of Ugarit, with a trade focused gameplay, and Talmi-Teshub or his son Kuzi-Teshub, viceroys of Carchemish who claimed Hittite Kingship following Hattis fall, could be added later.

His gameplay showcase gives him the vibes of a viking warlord. Which i think is cool.
Canaanites are like the underdogs in Total War Egypt.
Mad dogs*
@@regalgiant1597mad dogs underdogs
They got that dawg in 'em.
Egyptian culture itself by this point had been highly Semiticized/Babylonianized by Western Semitic/Canaanite influx. Some of the most powerful and influential men in Egypt were of Canaanite ancestry (including Vizier Bay/Ramesse Khamenteru) and many of Ramesses II's descendants were of mixed Egyptian/Canaanite blood. Not to mention the Egypto-Semitic/Canaanite Priesthood of Amun-Ra in Thebes had dominated Egypt since the Hyksos period and would outlast the fall of the Ramesside Dynasty and by the mid-12th century Thebes would become an independent state under the High Priest of Amun-Ra who by that point was more powerful than the Pharoah.
Please, please change the cartoony walking animations for all the soldiers with shields. It makes them look weightless and goofy. It's ok for some to walk like that, but the majority shouldn't. Look at Rome 2 & Atilla for proper walking animations. I want to like this game, but un-immersive stuff is where I draw the line.
i reckon irsu will be the easiest and more fun to play faction, literrally just total war
Probably not the easiest, since you have the Egyptians, Hittites, and sea people around you
@@ItsLofty101 you have a point, but the gameplay shows that with irsu, you will only need to be good at battle in order to complete campaign, at least thats what I can see, you will only need to go around and sack every one, alas, you will have to deal with PO, but thats it
@@losdocereyes4442 Well, every gameplay trailer of most factions in all of total war games are simplified lol They're just giving you an idea of it
Kush guy with archers will be, lol.
They can't give us the obvious factions like Israel Assyria Philistines Etc. They have to make it a DLC.
Assyria most likely will be added as DLC. Philistines i doubt it because those are, if not mistaken, one of the sea peoples who settled (Peleset) on the land.
You realise Israel was created around 500 years later right?
@@sauronplugawy3866 Israel is already mentioned as a separate people in the Merneptah stele.
@@Tamir-Barkahan The game takes place during the prologue of Exodus. Moses at this time has either just fled Egypt after his aggravated murder of the quartermaster, or was still in the Egyptian royal family. What the Merneptah stele describes is the foundation of Jerusalem and its surrounding holdings as a city state that the Hebrews would later conquer and found the Northern Kingdom of Israel around.
@@genghiskhan6809 That's debatable at best.
I can only hope that if they decide to have a campaign dlc, it's the Biblical conquest of Canaan. THAT would be something to behold.
TW Pharaoh is set in the right timing for it. The Merneptah Stele records a people group called Israel in the region a few years before the start date of the game. Though idk if they will since it could offend a religious people if their religious forefathers are defeated in the game.
It certainly would be interesting to see. I imagine it would start out with a kind of confederation of tribes behind one leader, before turning to proper conquest. Though you have the one God, your nations leadership is not bound in kings and royal lineages, but in powerful leaders, prophets, and judges that must interpret the words and laws of God and dicern how best to apply them. Siding with other powers like Egypt or the hittites could help with the conquest of the lands of Canaan or carving out territory for you fledgling nation, but it could open you up to internal schisms that could might tear it apart.
@@ancienthistorygaming I don't know any Christians mad about Christian factions being defeated in any total war game, same with Muslims lol. It'll be fine
I would love to see Joshua conquering Canaan. That would be cool
@@OceanSea12As a Muslim(converted, was raised a Christian) I would really be interested in playing as what we see as the Muslims(submitters to the one God) of this time period. 😁 smashing some pagans lol. The guy above has some interesting ideas on gameplay mechanics.
Irsu is going to be like the Greenskins of Pharoah. It's for people who don't want to bother with the diplomacy features.
I want a faction of the tribes of Moses so I can build power and claim revenge on Egypt that would be fun
Unfortunately “Moses” does not exist outside of the Bible, Torah and Qu’ran. Most Egyptologists and Historians dismiss the story as metaphorical not literal.
@@nevermore935well they are not infallible. We will all find out the truth when we die.
When Medieval 3 or Empire 2?
I wonder if Israel will be included in Total War Egypt because they do have history with Egypt and Canaan.
Nah it’s too early for them. Israel and Judah were established after the Phillistines, which puts that after the Bronze Age collapse. The game is set before that. However u can recruit habiru troops who would essentially be the tribes of Israel before they settled in Canaan/ Phillistia.
You could play as the Caananites and imagine they are the Israelites.
“Ammonites, Moabites, Israelites, and Phoenicians undoubtedly achieved their own cultural identities, and yet ethnically they were all Canaanites", "the same people who settled in farming villages in the region in the 8th millennium BCE." - (Tubb, Johnathan N. (1998). Canaanites. British Museum People of the Past).
The Israelites and their culture branched out of the Canaanite peoples and their cultures through the development of a distinct monolatristic-and later monotheistic-religion centred on the national god Yahweh. … spoke an archaic form of Hebrew, a regional variety of the Canaanite language - (Mark Smith in "The Early History of God: Yahweh and Other Deities of Ancient Israel")
israel didn't exist back then
As I understand the games Setting makes YHWHes in-/exclusion an Artistic Choice, since this is a bit earlier tham we have any records of him right?
Unfortunately it’s too early for them. If we go with the common belief that the Pharaoh in the bible is Rameses, that means that Moses at this time has either not yet gone into his decades long exile in Sinai or just went into it. It will be at least a few decades before he shows up to lead the Hebrews, who at this point still serve Egypt and are known by them as the Habiru, out of Egypt and thus kickstarting the military portion of the Book of Exodus.
As a canaanite, I am very offended by the stereotypes promoted in this game. We are not all bloodthirsty raiders and manipulative Schemers. We were the most advanced civilization of the Bronze Age. We brought civilization to Egypt and Mesopotamia and to Anatolia.

Irsu is archaon of the bronze age
Stop character based gameplay for full games. Saga maybe okay but full game should be culture or country focused.
Disagreed. Character-based factions give more personality to the factions and give more opportunities for roleplay. Plus it gives you recognizable faces to interact with and fight, making it possible to have long-lasting rivalries in-game.

Very dissapoint the armor of the tribes of Canaan, the units have the skins & face of troy total war, this is greek theme, no are respect to one game that say: we are historical, also in Canaan, we deserve to get quality in the buildings & same in the units because are kingdoms with alot of fame for example: The Philistines in Ashkelon, Gaza, Ashdod, Gath and Ekro, The Anakites that live near Hebron, Hittites that live what is today known as Turkey, The Amorites they are the tribe that founded Babylon as one of the most evil of all of the tribes of Canaanites, The Jebusites are among the most famous tribes in Canaan that live in the ancient territory of Jerusalem, The Girgashites his tribe was part of what was listed as Qaraqisha, allies of the Hittites in their wars with RamsesII, The devs can restore the true essence of lore if add a ancient campaign like Rome 2 tw that have ancient republic, in this way we can see true content of history in the bronze age, also if we are focus in Ramses III, we deserve to play with the chaldeans because are famous kingdoms that conqueror the lands & that really force to the end of the bronze age, no is only for fight vs The Peoples of the Sea, if we get only this content, is small like one Total war Saga, we deserve a true bronze age map , dear CA we play your games since the first medieval, shogun & rome for this the fans of the history deserve a good quality like you made for Warhammer franchise, you get many fans of fantasy, but you don´t forget that the fame of your studio is for made historical games!, its time to restore your essence & work for us the community that wait for play a good game for history!. We hope to see better models for units & buildings.
I just wish they had the Hebrews, Assyrians and Babylonians and maybe even Sumerians
The game is set around 1200BC. Hebrews weren't really a distinct people yet but rather a Canaanite tribe. Sumer on the other hand had ceased to exist already. But Assyria and Kassite Babylonia would be cool.
@noradrenalin8062 from what I looked up this is around the time the hebrews started to come into their own.
Im a huge fan of war chariot i hope they got them right.
I'm looking forward to this, Irsu would be my favourite now, I like a variety of units in the army and hopefully one day we can have Israelites, Mesopotamia, (Middle Assyrian empire and Babylon) Elam, Thrace, Libya, Greeks and western Anatolia and we can witness the fall of Minoan and Mycenaean Greece as the Dorian invasion led Greece to collapse
Maybe next time actually look at a map before placing towns like Hazor and Schechem!
Will the Israelites appear in the game?
720p?
Troops look unrealistic for some reason.
Definitely looking forward to this.
Imagine the mods boys! The map expansion in Babylon, the potential troy+pharoah map unite (we know is posible cause 3k and warhammer
No need for mods, both those things will most likely be DLC.

I think Irsu's faction sounds far more interesting than Bay's. I wonder if there will be more playable Canaanite factions later on (free and/or DLC).
I think so. I saw Amurru on the campaign map. That's an obvious one.
I think there's 4 leaders for each faction
for the price of $35 for a single faction
I thought the opposite. Anyone can go "Irsu". Takes a champ to master the fine arts🫠
I would love to see the Israelites as a playable faction. I know that people on here say that the Israelites were not around during this time, but archaeology and historical/Biblical research does point to the Israelites resettling Canaan either around 1400 BC or later around 1200 BC. Either way, the Israelites were around during the collapse of the Bronze Age and it would be cool to play as them.
Closer to 1200 BC mark, the Merneptah Stele records them as a people group not a nation, so they probably didn't have any settlements at that time or none that the Egyptians encountered so this probably is shortly after they entered Canaan and they were scouting out the land in the early stages of the Conquest Period if we follow the Biblical Text.
Well, there are Hungarians migrating West in Attila. It doesnt need to be super strict. Gameplay > historical purity imo
At this point, we’re still in the prologue of the Book of Exodus where it’s talking about Moses’s upbringing. At this point, Moses has either fled Egypt after his aggravated murder of the Egyptian quartermaster after finding out his true heritage, or is still a prince of Egypts royal family. Meanwhile, his people the Hebrews (known by the Egyptians as Habiru) were still in Egypt and serving the Egyptian crown.
If we do end up playing as the Hebrews, I can definitely see that as at least a DLC where we can play as Moses and Joshua.
@@genghiskhan6809 Moses is dead by now. Most scholars that believe in a historical Exodus dates it between 1265-1250 BC. They know it happened in Dynasty 19 with the place names of the City of Ramesses and Fortress of Migdol all founding in the 19th Dynasty. Then decades later a people called Israel were reported in Canaan as a people group by King Merneptah. It makes sense.
@@ancienthistorygaming Except that there's no record, Egyptian or archaeological, of an entire group of Canaanites living in Egypt, only small groups of workers and slaves. Even the most Exodus-friendly interpretation has it based on a small group of escaped slaves joining an existing tribe in Canaan calling themselves Isra'el during the reign of Ramesses II, which is how that story came about.
The most charitable interpretation is that a group of Canaanites living in the Nile Delta decided to up sticks and leave during a drought late in the reign of Ramesses II, and the Egyptian army tried to deny them passage through Sinai as they would've been a security risk, and then they rejoined their distant kin in the hills around the Jordan river after earlier migrating into Egypt to find better farmland.
The more likely interpretation is that it's completely fictional.

Nice thing to see here but will there be enought land between the factions so that they have enought space to evolve ?, specialy will the game map be big (zb size of rom2 world map but just in a smaller area (anatolia egypt canan assyria ) ? ps at which point do we get more information about early acces, im so damn excitet and wanna test it :)
I think they mentioned at some point the map is about the same size the Rome 2 map is and I counted the regions, it has about 100-120 regions (some ui elements were in the way on the picture, so it's not precise). Rome 2 has 183 regions but there is also some potential evidence this game will get map expansions that add even more regions because on the few pictures we saw of the whole map there is some giant empty space on the map left and right of the playable area and Greece and Mesopotamia are visibe there, they're just empty unusable space without anything in it right now which could change later.

This is like asking why Vikings aren't in emperor Augustus in Rome 2, it's the wrong period. Atm, these are canaanites- the descendents of whom are the Phoenicians
It had been years since I consumed Total War products. I was an avid player of the Rome and Medieval series, including the MODS Europa Barbarorum and Broken Crescent. I'm loving the evolution and flexibility of the title, overlapping with franchises, like Warhammer. Very good! However, I think they should have called Karl Sanders (Nile) to compose the entire soundtrack for the title Pharaoh!
Jews better be in the game
Please do not make full gold armor for heroes, looks fake asf
Bronze
Canaanites - the descendants of Canaan, son of Ham and grandson of Noah.
Ham was cursed by Noah for laughing at him being drunk and streaking around that his descendants will suffer as punishment.
Damn, Noah got no chill.
Lol I think Ham/Canaan was actually blessed, not cursed. Considering the fact that Ham’s descendants were Mizraim (descendants founded Egypt), Canaan (the forefather of the Phoenicians and Amorites who founded the First Dynasty of Babylon), Cush (whose descendants are believed to have been the First Dynasty of “Kish” that ruled Sumer) and Put (founder of the powerful West African Nations).
And last but not least the Phoenicians (the descendants of Sidon, Canaan first son) who established the largest financial/trading network the world had ever seen and would go on to create Carthage and dominate the Mediterranean and established themselves in Neo Assyria, Neo Babylon, mainland Greece, the Aegean Islands, Ionia, Achaemenid Persia, Rome etc. Most Historians consider the Phoenicians as the most influential culture in history.
Ham was not cursed his son cannan was. Stop telling that lie that Ham was curse by Noah. Curse be Cannan not Curse be Ham.
These are just slanders against Prophet Nuh(AS) from the scripture corrupters. May Allah Curse them. Sorry just had to insert my faith based opinion on this issue lol 😏
Excellent! 🎉
Just make good and distinct factions I don't care about the leaders having their own identity. As the player feels like I should be the one giving them one with my play decisions. Plus there are literally multiple egypt factions why include a Caananite one that attempts to become Egypt number four?
Hope we get an aggressive, raiding and conquering faction, the dreaded Sea Peoples who ended the Bronze age, they're a horde faction that starts off the coast somewhere, and their own goal is--like the Huns in TW Attila--is to ravage, raze, sack, and destroy every faction. However, they're strongest when along the coast of the Med. Sea and the Nile, but weak further inland. A mechanic where they get buffs in coastal provinces, and suffer debuffs further within
So when are we getting another Empire-type game? M3TW? We've been asking for about a decade now...
look! i love all the total wars im all for buying dlcs and supporting games, but i just cant help but wonder if this is just another troy game it looks very same are we being scammed here ? hope not
How yku are showing the game, it is so impressive! But when I play, it is so much more different than my expectatjons...
This looks way worse than i was hoping
What were you hoping
Weird you can play as Cnaanites but not as the Israelites. Having them as a faction with a unique monotheism mechanic would've been really cool
The Israelites were still in Egypt at this point. They’re currently still known as the Habiru. At this point, Moses has either just fled Egypt or is still a member of the Egyptian royal family.
@@genghiskhan6809According to the Amarna letters, the Habiru were already invading Canaan during the time of Akhenaten.
@@eyeofsauron1502which is the 18th dynasty, which the game is in the 19th. So Israel either has not succeeded in their conquest, or the biblical timeline might be messy. My guess is israel if it appears, it will be still a divided faction trying to reform ans unify to have another crack at Canaan. Coming in amid the chaos and claiming the lands for their own. At this point, Israel has no kings or pharaohs... they have warleaders, prophets, and judges. They have the 1 God, but their leadership structure is not really settled.
@@genghiskhan6809 Israelites would be in Sinai peninsula or in Canaan as they fled Egypt during the reign of Ramses II
There would be no difference between the ethnic groups at this time, and they certainly would not have been monotheistic. Yahwist monotheism doesn't occur until 700 BCE, and 'Israelite' as distinct from other Canaanites and not simply different tribal groups of the same ethnicity happened after ~1000 BCE, not before.
