So, Islam. But first: “Why 3 months?”. I wrote this neat rant to explain: This vid was, once, all in all over 1 hour long and included the rise of Islam, tho this wasn’t the original design. Having read a particular website’s rules/guidelines in detail regarding depicting certain groups negatively (even if parody bullshit), and getting confused the shit out of me with its vagueness regarding dark humor contexts, I regardless chose to carry it out, and tried several ways to contextualize/censor/re-animate/attempt new methods to make the muslim part (which would depict them as the eastern Romans saw them, and more. AKA not very kindly) seem compliant with the vague rules. Even if they did comply (again, vague), nothing true to the series, or even worth watching came of it. All censored, humorless, soulless crap. All edges cut off, and spirit drained. It didn’t belong in the Unbiased vids. Given its rotten state, I ended up cutting the video down and reworked it to its current form (which is still 46 min, my god), hence the nearly 3 months of wait. 3 months of work, exhaustion, and deep, deep frustration. In short, it took very long because I failed to produce something that could both likely comply with the guidelines and live up to the series’ spirit. It’s my fault, sorry. Since we’re talking failure, you’ll notice plenty of graphical glitches on the vid if you pay attention. Its mostly a consequence of trying to animate and render in 60fps for the first time. Fucked a lot of things up. I chose to let some mistakes in, both as a personal punishment for attempting mid-production novelty like an idiot, and because im fucking tired man… That said, I can’t neither in body or soul deal with ending things like this however, so I’m announcing I’ll attempt a whole new type of vid/series next time we meet. All I’ll say is its a style I’ve been meaning to give a try for a very long time. Hope it ends up good and the plebs and plutocrats like it, if so it might get further developed. The word “Cowardice” might come to some of you. I know it’s disappointing, including to many Muslim viewers who commented support for covering the topic. Early Muslim history is so fascinating I couldn’t resist at least giving it a try, many tries. But I failed, cost me a month or so. I’m not leaving it here, as I said, but really my only solace is that now I can’t regret not putting in the effort, and I get to try something new. The Persian Empire basically did not exist, and the Byzantines had a smaller population, smaller army, most of their veterans and strong soldiers dead, a weak war weary economy, food troubles from all the raids, pillaging, and destruction. It was basically a shadow of what it was before the war (after all, it was 30 years of, not just war, but total war across all fronts). The Arabs may have been outnumberd, but most of the Byzantine troops were fresh green recruits tired of constant war. Best episode in a while. They're all phenomenal, but this one has a certain charisma to it.
Heraclius was actually viewed very favourably in Islamic tradition, often described as just, wise and a man of great piety. If even your mortal enemy praises you that must mean you are really awesome.

Or blame the crusaders. Dandolo’s role in the sack is a bit overstated. In actuality, the crusaders didn’t really ahve a choice but to attack the City, and they got super lucky with the fragmentation among the Romaioi. The sack was really a very unfortunate series of misunderstandings that had massive consequences, and it was mainly the crusaders who committed the barbarities, not the Venetians.

@@菼 truth hurts?
How in every battle Arabs were outnumbered , how tf did the Romans and Persians lose
@@VIP1G THat isn't quite true. This war destroyed both the Byzantines and the Persians. On top of that the first few battles between the Byzantine and Arabs, luck was just plain on the Arabs side as natural events, random chance, and much more kept weakening the Byzantines before the battles.
Most depressing thing I've ever thought about in my life was how Flavius Aetius must've felt in his last breaths being stabbed by an emperor he dedicated his entire life to quite depressing shit
