Now that's how you do an automotive instruction video!!! Thank you!
Thanks Daniel! Much appreciated. Dont forget to subscribe if you havent already.
@@MotorCityMechanic why my radio dont have that green cable conection only the red and white
This is probably one of the best step by step videos I’ve seen. Great job!
Thanks Richard, appreciate the great feedback and for you watching
David, a really Big THANKS for featuring us in your video! We're big fans of the channel. Thanks again.
Your welcome. Thanks for the help and info.
so just to confirm buying the 8.4 from Infotainment & installing myself i wont have to goto the dealership to have them configure it?
Another great vid Dave. This is why I enjoy your channel so much. You clearly explain the reason you follow certain procedures, and guide the viewer thru other secondary procedures that are usually overlooked by the home mechanic.👍👍
one of the best, informative videos seen in a while. Awesome job!
Because of your video I bought and installed my JL 8.4 in less than 15minutes (watched your video twice before).
Very easy since your explanation is great!
THANK YOU!!
Awesome! Glad it went quick and easy. Thanks for the comment and make sure to subscribe
What an amazingly informative video! I learned more about jeep upgrades and how things work overall, plus the video was just well edited and interesting. Thank you!
Excellent video - detailed, precise, everything I needed. Really great work!
Appreciate it Dan! Thanks for checking it out.
Excellent “how to” video. Very articulate and understandable.
Great video man, helped with all my questions in upgrading from a 7" to a 8.4. Thanks, very informative. Definitely a subscriber now from only watching your first UA-cam video.
About as good as it gets for instructions and details. Direct to the point. Awesome
Thanks. I think this is the best video available on how to do this upgrade. Very well done.
Got my first Jeep Wrangler today and this video was my very first stop. Seriously, this should be the template for all instructional videos. Thank you, MCM!
Nice explanation about how everything works together. Computers need those modules to know what's going on. It's expensive to change something out. That is a great upgrade.
This is easily one of the best made how to radio install videos out there. Well done!
Thanks Jason for the great feedback and kind words. Glad you enjoyed. Make sure to subscribe.
Your video helped elevate my audio game in my 2020 JLU from UAA to UAQ. THANKS :)
Just bought a 2021 Wrangler JL. Thank you for all of your information and instructional video.
Great video! We just got a new Jeep JT (Gladiator) with the 5" radio and asked the salesman about upgrading to the nav system. We were told it was impossible, to which I called BS. Glad this is available. Looks like a great Saturday afternoon project.
That looked more then easy I actually feel like I could do it myself no problem. Not only did learn to replace a grill by your videos but now a radio. Welp found my new car channel to watch.
Thanks Daniel after seeing your video I felt very comfortable buying the stereo from infotainment.
Dude! This was super helpful. I been contemplating for weeks on upgrading from the 7 to 8 but this video help put my mind at ease about just leaving it be. Thank you! =)
Thanks for watching Austin. Glad to share what ever I know. Make sure to subscribe!
Did you end up swapping ?? This video shows the 5 swap to 8 and mentions volume would only work from steering wheel
What about those who have the 7” and have the volume button by climate controlS
You gave the best replacement of the radio I've found so far 🙂
EXCELLENT VIDEO!!! super easy to perform the upgrade!!
Definitely better than other videos on UA-cam regarding this installation
Many thanks Karl. The feedback is much appreciated
I don‘t have a Wrangler, rather a Renegade, but this was really informative and actually enjoyable. Would definitely come in handy if I bought a Wrangler in the future and I needed to install an infotainment system, thanks a lot!
The 8.4" uConnect is an amazing unit. I would have a hard time buying a different vehicle without this system now.
once again David great video and very professionally done.
Appreciated Randall.
Nice job Dave. I recently had to replace my 8.4 in my 14' Ram 2500 because when I did a USB update it got stuck on "embedded air card." I was out of warranty by time so I checked a reputable eBay seller who had the same exact radio as mine with the same exact preloaded features and the 4 digit security code to that radio. I did the swap everything went well but to make a long story short, I had to pay $10.00 to transfer the XM radio service. Also, I no longer had navigation because the radio has a different identifier/air card and the navigation stays with the old radio. I called FCC and they were very helpful with providing me the codes for navigation activation. Just some food for thought! This package from infotainment is pretty slick!
I’m telling ya David, FCA needs to use you for their instructional videos ! Good job brother!
Right! The guy knows how to Properly do an instructional video!
Omg I didn't think it was that simple. Thank you thank you for this GREAT VIDEO!!!
Very interesting, David. Thank you for sharing.
Your welcome and thanks for watching!
Great job on this one... You are really good at explaining this stuff....

Thanks a ton David - im searching infotainment now.
Appreciate you watching and thank you for following the channel.
Excellent and very informative video. THANK YOU!
Ha! That's exactly what the parts guy at the dealership told me today. "It's not possible." Damn crooks!!
Just called the dealer and guess what " Not an option".
Awesome video im looking into this today
Excellent video! Thank you! 🙏🏻
Nice job, I feel like I can even do this now....
Its not a hard job and if you take your time you shouldnt have any issues. Thanks for commenting and for watching. Make sure to subscribe.
Excellent
Thanks for a fantastic video
Couple things you didn’t touch on:
1. You can buy a new HVAC control panel from infotainment as well to regain the factory volume button.
2. When upgrading from the 5.0, you likely won’t have the GPS module, which you can also buy from infotainment and install yourself.
Dec 2021. Thank you!
Thanks for watching
Great video my brother 👍
Thanks Victor! Dont forget to subscribe.
Great video!!! Thank you.
Many thanks man!

Awesome vid thanks
Your welcome and thanks for watching Juan!
Nice video.
Much appreciated! Make sure to subscribe and Merry Christmas
That 8.4 inch is nice
Its a very nice radio. I dont see a need to go bigger then that like in the high end Rams.....8.4 is enough for me. I have it in my durango as well.
@@MotorCityMechanic love durangos
@@AntonioClaudioMichael I never thought I would but I certainly do now.
awesome video....U did not mention one thing. the 8.4 has lte and you need to buy a LTE antenna if you want to use the car as internet hotspot.
Brilliant thanx.
Your welcome. Make sure to subscribe and check out my other videos as well.
BTW, thanks for the detail on the green connector going to the tan. I would have been a bit stumped by that if I hadn't seen your video. Heh.
Ambrose, what function was the green connector for? I just installed the 8.4 and the Jeep did not have a green connector. I am assuming it is for GPS since the nav screen does not move out of Florida and I am in PA.
@@robertrose6068 Sorry, I don't actually know, but your theory seems highly plausible.
Awesome video very informative thank you. Question should I disconnect the negative terminal on the battery before installing my 8.4 radio from infotainment?. It was because of your video I got the radio. Thank again. Lee
Holy shit! Grovetown! Automatic sub
Sounds like we are neighbors lol. thanks for subscribing!
Great video really considering upgrading in my new Rubicon. just not sure how much a difference the 8.4 is to the 7, wish I would have looked on the lot when buying. Also I found out that they will buy your old unit when you replace so if that is a decent deal I think I will do it.
You can get the control panel from them as well
That video was very helpful for people who want to upgrade their sound system and backup camera. Also the info on programming to the build of the car is helpful. Do most of the late models have fuel pump control modules that that have to be programmed? If so, do u have to have the Mopar subscription?
Newer ones do have fuel pump modules instead of the relay in the fuse box. I haven't heard of it being programmable....then again I haven't had any real issues with one yet.
great information. Thank you for posting. Can you tell me how Satellite radio would work with this? Thank you
FCA loves those lever connects, several in my Town & Country upper console for my tvs. How is the PT coming along? Thanks for the content despite having to handle twins.
Thanks man for asking about the twins....they are a handful at times but priceless. They pretty much dictate what free time we have which is almost none. The head on the PT is off and I am working on getting all the needed parts together so that I can continue filming the process. I appreciate you following the channel!
Huge relief, yeah the dealership tells you it’s outright impossible... I can’t wait to do this to my JL. I just wonder if I were to get the climate panel with the volume knob if it would work properly.
Good question. Not sure if just plug and play when it comes to the switch bank....its falls into that trial and error category.
Yes It would work fine!
After browsing the comments, I did not notice if this question was answered already, so I will ask it (again?):
After upgrading, did you notice whether or not the Off-Road pages feature of the 8.4 was present?
Also, great video, I liked and subscribed! Looking forward to browsing your channel.
Good question.....I dont know for sure. Best people to ask are great folks over at infotainment.com.....they are the experts on this and will be able to get you that answer for sure. Thanks for asking and for having subscribe Robert! Its much appreciated
David can you change keyless start to keyed start on 2018 Jeep Wrangler? Loved this vid and will be attempting it on mine. Thanks
I bought mine and someone already did this upgrade. I would love the upgraded dash controls with volume. Can you do a video on that?
I would like to see this!
Hi, great, informative video. One question, I have the Gladiator Sport that doesn’t have the front camera.
Will this radio support the front camera if I add it? It currently has no front camera.
Keep up the good work. THANKS!
Super informative! Thanks. Question, will upgrading to the 8.4 give me access to the off-road pages? Thanks
Good question.....I don’t know for sure. I recommend contacting infotainment.com to find out for sure. If any one knows....it would be them
Excellent video Dave … well done. My 2019 Jeep JL 8.4 screen lost the display on the right 1/3 of the screen. The touch screen still works on the blank portion of the screen. The dealer says a radio software update maybe required ($200) or a complete radio with nav replacement ($3,000)
Any ideas what the problem might be? Can it be repaired. Thanks Jim
Great video man, can I add a front camera with that system?
Great video sir. I currently have the 7" system and I do like it a lot. I feel like I should have gotten the 8.4" so I could take advantage of the offroad pages. Looks like a pretty easy install.
I have been hearing alot about these off road pages and need to check into it sometime when I get some free time. Yeah its not a hard install for sure. Thanks for watching and for commenting.
Absolutely! All it takes is money and time, both of which I have none of! Ha! Offroad pages are already available on Rubicon trims in the center display, but Jeep offered an upgrade for the 8.4" unit that allows those pages to be shown full-screen.
I will have to check into that.
I feel like I could have saved some money and bought my JL with the 5" and then upgrade to this. It's probably cheaper too!
Its possible! Thanks for watching and for the comment.
I bought my UAQ radio for my 14 Ram from them
I have bought used in the past and ended up with the wrong version and then had to track down the right one. Its cool to see one place that specializes in the swaps so you dont have to make the same mistakes as me.
Great video, if my 2019 JL doesn't have the GPS antenna installed for the GPS. Is this an easy install? Do you have a video for that and the XM antenna install? Again great video
I dont have any videos on that. I would check with infotainment.com to see what they offer and where they recommend mounting it in case its different then the oem original location. Thanks for the kind words about the video and for watching. Make sure to subscribe.
good vid...quick question, dont think I heard you mentioned this in the vid...I've seen other videos on this upgrade and they said you would need to go to the dealer after the install to re-program the brains of the Jeep to know you have a new radio (8.4 from a 5)...does this not need to happen?
do you give vin info to infotainment to get stern working for jeep, or take it to dealer so they input jeep info?
Great video! I have a Jeep Wrangler JL Sport 4 door with the 5" screen, not the sport S which comes with the option of getting a 7'' screen from the factory. I wanted to upgrade to the 7'' screen. The dealership told me that they are not sure if this is compatible, so they didn't do the upgrade. Is this possible? Thanks for the great work in the channel.
Good video ? I seen another video where they said that the inside was waterproof ,is that just the wires so nothing gets damaged or is The radio, instrument cluster, heating controls, encased in some kind of rubber seal.
Much love from Philly!
Since infotainment came out with the replacement volume and climate controls can you do another video on putting that in?
I would like to if they let me. I might have to check into it. Thanks for asking and make sure to subscribe.
Also if you ever get a chance could you do a speaker upgrade for factory speakers? They kind of suck to be honest from the factory, tinny sound and have to turn it up and no bass.
Does the infotainment radio have a built in sxm receiver? That’s the thing I’m missing the most with this 5.4 unit. Thanks!!
if I change my 5in radio to an 8.4, is it possible to also buy the control panel to have volume and split climate control options? awesome video by the way!
Not sure....its something I would have to try swapping to see if it will work. It falls into that "grey area".....there is no documentation saying it will work or not until someone tries it. Thanks for the feedback about the video.
You fucking rock, dude!
Many thanks man!
Great video! I just got a 2018 JL with a stock AM/FM radio so I will be upgrading. Do you get any credit for sending me to Infotainment? I want to make sure you get some sort of acknowledgement (or pay) for recommending them. Also, when going from a radio with just AM/FM, to a radio with Satellite radio, will I need to get a different antenna?
I want one in my 05 dodge magnum rt lil
That would be nice! What do you have in your 05 Magnum right now? Just in case... tinyurl.com/yd962chx
Great video! Just subscribed!...I have a 2012 charger, if i buy the 8.4 radio. Would i get the psg o the camera? Even tho the vehicle didnt come with gps or backup camera .
I recommend contacting infotainment.com.......call them up and talk to them. They will be able to tell you everything that you might need to make it all work. Appreciate you watching and make sure to subscribe
Will also give you the off-road mode?
Hi did the 8.4 come with navigation ? If so I didn’t see you instal a gps antenna ?
Hello i went from the 5 to the 7 and changed the climate control too everything works to change the radio volume only thing that wont work is the A/C
