I left the car audio installation biz in the '90's because vehicles were getting more complicated to install. Auto manufacturers made aftermarket installations much more difficult and factory units were getting better. These newer "black boxes" are awesome. A little expensive, but made wiring and integration much much easier. The industry did not even make factory radio harnesses when I started installing in the '80's. Lol.
@@chuckw6099 Me too. I installed in the '80's & early '90's. No harnesses needed and you could make your own kits. I then worked for /////ALPINE for almost 10 years and and started another career when I saw the end of 12v profitability . I still install 'on the side' and recently installed a X409-WRA-JL for a friend. Nice unit. This might be the first time I've heard someone praise built-in navigation versus mobile-based navigation. Living in Houston, there's always road construction or new neighborhoods being built so the built-in maps become outdated after about a year. Android Auto and Apple Carplay saved the day more often than not. :) Loving this video BTW!!
Mobile phone Nav will always be superior with the instant updates.... until you don't have cell phone service out in the sticks and have no idea where you are. Built in nav comes in great for that situation as noted in the video

We have a 19' Rubicon with the 8.4" screen and alpine factory sound system. I'd say we are content with it for now. Nice to see another option out there when it's time to upgrade. Can't wait to see what you do for speakers. I was a little disappointed when I found out they went with smaller speakers in this generation of Wrangler.
Not sure if that's their intention, but I love how some of those plugs are recessed into the unit so you don't have to worry about bending or damaging the plugs during fitting.
Was looking into getting one of these! So glad to see someone who knows their stuff covering it! Most of these Jeep UA-camrs don't have the first clue about the specifics of the product, this thing looks awesome.. The other options on the market are either WAY to MUCH or crappy looking.
