That bridge in the middle is insane. The way the FOH guy sets that delay and then the way Robin Zander works off of it is amazing. That big drawn out “mmmooooooooootttthhher” is epic.
My favorite version of this song. So much passion and to think how many times they've played that song yet still pour out their souls like its the first time.
if you every are lucky enough to catch it live now (which doesn't happen very often) you will see that the ending with Rick and Tom just keeps getting better and more intense. I was lucky enough to see both GHR and Heaven Tonight in the same set. If I had never seen another CT concert I would have been fine.---- of course I have seen them 5 more times since..........
I got the 1st CT album when I was 14, this song scared the shit out of me 40 years ago. I still get the cold chills on the outro. Robin Zander is one of my rock n roll heroes because of performances like *this*.
Yup- I heard it when it was released in '79 and it changed my punk-ass junior high school view of things even MORE lol Among a handful or two of song's rocked my world that hard!
This is my favorite song of their's and damn I love a lot of their songs! I was a senior in high school in '78 and rock was changing with bands like Cheap Trick, Cars, Babies...look who is still around.
These guys send it. What a rippin"trippin' song. Daytona '89 Spring Break first time I saw them. Sonic perfection. Pete's bass sorry Pete Comita had left and Tom Peterson is playing here.Awesome guit-bass guitar he invented,Bun E.just slammin' Robin's voice. Rick Nielsen .....Shreddin' tele.
@@notpub Explorer Telecaster SG.I don't know if his 68 Fender Telecaster !@ string bass was an Explorer.I'm no guitar guy just love Tom Peterson,Leon Wilkerson,Entwhistle,etc.....Peace
Man I had forgotten how intense these guys are!!! I remember seein these guys in Toledo Ohio in the early 80s doin acid and I couldnt talk for three days cuz I blew my voice out! Those were the days!!
every night, every show. I have made it a point to get to every show that is "in the area" for the past 5 years. I can honestly say, they seem to always be better than the last. I have NO IDEA how they do it. And now another studio album. that's why they are my favorite band.
Saw them at Fenway Park this year opening for Def Lepard and Journey. It was sad as the Park had a very sparse crowd when they performed. Rick tossed me a guitar pick on his way to the stage and Tom flashed me the Peace sign. Getting old but still rocking!
Fell in love with this song in 5th grade sitting in the middle of Iowa. Got my whole class AND teacher hooked on the band. Wore my damn record out. Sometimes the most simple guitar riffs are the most brilliant.
As great as ever and still pumping out great new music! Bun E looks like he should be grandpa sitting in his lawn chair reading the paper with a glass of iced tea! Love it!
sweet, I have the cd(s) and dvd, the first concert my kids got to go to was CT in 05, we had front row seats in front of rick, we have like 9 or 10 picks
Zander still belts them out. Only Freddie Mercury could possibly be better than Robin! But I'd rather listen to CT any day! These guys were my fave from '77 'til now. Arguably the best band in rock! Where's the Rock HoF nomination???
I write on every song video and relive the tale of meeting Cheap Trick after winning a radio contest. This was before they actually charged to meet and greet bands. The kicker was when they all autographed a photo from the Budokan tour. They are awesome and very down to earth.
I saw these guys three times. Once in Lubbock Texas in 1980, once in 84 at Six Flags over Texas and they opened for Nightranger show that was recorded live for The 7 Wishes tour. I can hear them all day long.
This is my favorite Cheap Trick song and one of my all time favorite rock songs but I must say, they are playing this song (tempo?) much too fast, They're playing it like they have a taxi out back waiting with the meter running.
Sawn, I agree 100%! I was at The Metro, near front middle. After the song, I stood there with my jaw on the floor. The next evening, Rick was working the line of fans waiting to get it. I asked him if they were going to play Gonna Raise Hell again. He replied "we're afraid to". It may be the only time Rick's ever answered a question truthfully :-) Every time I hear that version now, even 22 years later, I get goosebumps. I was also there for Silver, but nothing tops the four nights at The Metro.
Great band, and song!...my 11 yr. old son loved it the first time he heard it!....and ya, they still play together, and sound great!....saw them on PBS a few months ago, and the bassist was jamming faster than the lead guitarist!....actually sounded better than this video....They were VERY big, in the day....
I dont care for that stall they put in when Rick does the lead. Like a stutter, 1/8th note hes coming in after the beat but on album hes right on time.
One of the greatest American rock bands of all time ...what a band .
Mr.Zander was almost 50 at that time. Still killing it. Unreal.
LOVELY 🌹🌹🌹
Just seen him a few weeks ago, and still Rockin it.
Just can't sleep! so let's Rock!
😂😂😂😂😋
Absofuckinlutely!
yes

Most under-rated rock band of all time
My favorite version of this song. So much passion and to think how many times they've played that song yet still pour out their souls like its the first time.
+buzzcrushtrendkill and I gotta add that the bridge section starting at 3:00 is just phenomenal. Otherworldly.

I was lucky enough to see both GHR and Heaven Tonight in the same set. If I had never seen another CT concert I would have been fine.---- of course I have seen them 5 more times since..........
From 3::00: So intense beautiful and moving. Can hear it again and again....
From my hometown
Cant stop listening to this. Perfect drums, perfect Bass, perfect guitar and perfect vocals.
My mates say "cheap trick, who ?", I say "poor fools you"
How many other bands do you see where ALL of the members are either BEASTS or MASTERS of their craft?
This band is why I play guitar. Life changers.
The most underrated band in history.
Hall of Fame aside.
One of the best bands ever.
Period.
Tom Petersson's bass reaches in and rips your throat out. Just the way a twelve-string is supposed to.
+James Daniels He's great!
I listen to this song pretty often in my Truck...let's just say that the Subwoofers beat me up badly...I love it!
That 12 string bass......
jeezus Robin. These guys can bring it live.
Fucking hell!! This is amazing! That drum beat makes me crazy and Robin sang the hell out of that. That guy can sing, such talent in this band .

Spectacular Performance with the highest degree of power!
This band makes me grateful 2 be alive just 2 hear and see them.
Bun E. Carlos rocks.

@@tgarner100 Still does.
See his band Tinted Windows
This concert NEEDS to reissued on VINYL!
This is my favorite song of their's and damn I love a lot of their songs! I was a senior in high school in '78 and rock was changing with bands like Cheap Trick, Cars, Babies...look who is still around.
78 was the VAN HALEN initial release. Nothing else happened that year. LOL.
THIS SONG IS AS BAD-ASS AS RICK’s “BEARD” ......
this band always did, and always will kick ass!
I absolutely love this song. Glad to see there's more than one vid of this on youtube. Cheap Trick is a force to be reckoned with live.
growing up I had all the cheap trick albums. But by far this was my most favorite song still love this song
Only Robin can sing this song no mortal man should ever try
Yup ain't that the truth and fact.......
Indeed. Zander's the bomb of rock vocals. He can sing EVERYTHING.
Best American vocalist ever.
Enuff said.
truly amazing..
I did concert security for years. They are grumpy but they put on a 58 minute show that was the best 58 minutes I ever heard!!!!!
2022 & Cheap Trick is still one of my favorite groups. 🎸🥁🎙🎸
These guys send it.
What a rippin"trippin' song.

Congrats on making the hall. It was about time. Keep on Rockin, and Raising Hell until the end!!!
You have to love Tom's 12 string bass!!
I Have loved this band since that first album. It doesn't seem possible but when I hear live performances like this I love them EVEN MORE!
Whole brand totally on point here.
These guys have never failed to entertain. Awesome.

😂😂😂😂😂
Watching Cheap Trick on acid? Damn, why didn't I think of that? I was just smoking joints!
Saw them at Fenway Park this year opening for Def Lepard and Journey. It was sad as the Park had a very sparse crowd when they performed. Rick tossed me a guitar pick on his way to the stage and Tom flashed me the Peace sign. Getting old but still rocking!
Those guys should be opening for Cheap Trick
Damn straight, @@mikelasater2016. Who the fuck produced that show? Some 18 yr old WTF prob.
I’m 60 and still Raising Hell!!!!!!
Well hell why not?!! ✌🏿
Epic performance as always!

What a kick ass performance!!
The Real Deal.
12 string bass sounds bad ass and fills a song in !
One of the most ominous, coolest, and kick-ass bass riffs ever! www.weaponofselfdistraction.com

You can tell this was a favorite of the band to play.

Robin's vocal range is incredible. Yeah the boys!!!!! Raise some hell, Tom!!!
Probably one of the coolest bass riffs ever
Loved every song these guys ever wrote. I can only say that about one other group. The Beatles.
And triumph
Thank you from Philadelphia❤❤❤

How is Robin Zander able to sing this song without tearing up his vocal cords?
Still is the BEST BAND!!!!!

My first concert 1980 Eastern Illinois University
Bun E Carlos coolest drummer ever. He was showcased more than any drummer than I ever seen and for a good reason
Any other drummer wouldn't be the same. He has unique style. Incomparable. Glad I have this CD.
I get it The Rolling Stones are good...but this is better!
This man raised Hell at my church. The travelling minstrel that he is...
Isso sim é que é banda de primeira linha.👏👏👏👏👏👏🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Bun
Luv Cheap Trick, seen them in concert in the 80s.
Robin still has an awesome voice.
Saw them when they opened for kiss.
Look at them holy crap we all getttongold
My second favorite live performance, that I've seen. Nothing tops the version from Metro in Chicago on Music For Hangovers. Unbelievable. B|

So under rated.
