Not only did you play the first game, you played the important side quests and is clearly invested in the lore. As a fellow fan of Drakengard/Nier, much respect to you. I hope Yoko Taro and the team come back for a sequel, pref where Drakengard 3 left off to tie it with Automata's ending. ☺️
these games are so special, the side quests add so much to the overall atmosphere and lore! i did some drakengard lore deepdiving so i would love to experience that world in one way or another some day
This level of investment, excitement, and emotional rollercoaster is why NieR is legendary. They make you FEEL - get in touch with what it means to be alive.
The NieR games are nothing but pure, exquisite, excruciating pain. They are exceptionally beautiful. There are absolutely no words to describe how wonderful these games are. Definitely in my top 5 games of all time.
I love this. These games are special for a lot of us. It's nice to watch some one else take it all in since we all only get one first time experiencing this game. I wish you the absolute best. You were enjoyable to watch and you seem like a sweet and sincere person.
I really wish I could remove all the memories of these two games and play them again. I just finished replicant and played automata when it came out. Now I understand so much more and im going to replay automata. Im in love with these two games I cant even put it in words.
Awesome edit, rare these days to see someone playing Automata after Replicant, I played NieR (Gestalt) when it first came out in 2011 so had the same feels when I played Automata. I am sure you will replay Automata at some point, there are a few hidden stories and places to uncover related to Emil that you will enjoy.
I know I'm late to the party, but I just found your channel through this video of you playing one of my all time favorite games and I absolutely loved watching your emotions as you played through the game!
thank you so much for watching! that's really the main reason i upload these reactions. i'm not a GREAT editor but being able to say someone's first reactions is the closest we'll ever get to experiencing it for the first time ourselves as well!
1:01:52 you're not alone. I felt the same in this moment. It's oddly poignant to notice the difference between heartfelt words and how those words sound when you hear them. Dying over and over, the messages seem silly and frustrating, but then when it's your turn to make those words you mean them.
Awesome video. I wish they bring back Drakengard 3 and Drakengard 1. Those are the prequels of Nier. Oh, you can get another Emil's sidequest by obtaining and upgrading all the weapons to max. And then, prepare to feel things.
i’ve read up on some Drakengard lore when i was in a deep dive of NieR lore 😂 a remake for those would be awesome cause i would definitely give them a try! ooo i might have to aim for that final Emil cutscene if i play the game again, if not i’ll look up a video and bring a box of tissues 😭
High recommendation to read "Short Story Long" as it contains the novelization of the YoRHa stage play, which covers A2's backstory, and has a few other short stories. There's also the ongoing manga adaptation, "YoRHa: Pearl Harbor Descent Record" which also covers A2's backstory but in Manga format. I can't vouch for it though, not because its bad, but because I haven't read it. Probably a good version for those willing to wait between volumes.
Since it isnt in this video, one thing I assume you missed: if you go back to the machine village after wiping Pascal's memory, he's sitting there in the village selling scrap parts of all his destroyed friends and basically goes "huh, I wonder why anyone would leave all these valuable components just sitting around?"
I have been saving this video for when I finished Replicant...I never expected these games to hit me like this. From when I first heard this music in the FFXIV Nier raids until now, the impact has only grown and grown the more I learned.
49:28 Imagine being a pacifist being forced to set aside your values for what you believe is a worthy cause.. 55:50 I've always regretted being overleveled and not getting the last hack in that would've let me see A2's GUI. 58:23 Oh, look, an amnesiac Pascal curiously poking about the dead bodies in his village.
A small fact from the chorus part of the credit song from ending E from what I know: The chorus was made from the entire team who has worked on this game. What makes this more emotional.
Um. You should try to get to ending Y. Just. It's one last thing you definitely need to see. If interested, there's a cheat code to get chapter select back and I could direct you without spoilers
i know that it involves upgrading every single weapon which i just do not have the time to do. at this point i’ve watched ending Y on youtube and my heart breaks for our precious boy
that is so sweet of you to say! i’m currently working on Halo videos right now (its super slow and inconsistent because i work full-time and stream) but i have lots of playthrough video ideas for the future!
i know its late, but in case you are still wondering. Pod 042 wanted to save all the main character from their demise so he launched the attack on the credits aka the developers. But later on he realized that the only way to save them is to deleted all the save files so the story never happened and they could not meet their fate. However there was a concert called "End of Data" took place after ending E. As you saw the pods carried parts to repair 2B and 9S, they survived and embarked on a new adventure.
So glad I found this reaction, this is so precious. It's so good seeing someone with knowledge of Replicant reacting to Automata with the shock we all did. EMIL SUPREMACY.
Wait you didn't do ending Y&Z? They're Emil's and they are crazy painful 48:30 also its amazing how you arranged a whole family & friends meeting under the premise of just beating a videogame section
I didn't get those endings organically no, but I have since watched them on youtube! LMAO i know! my brother is the best, came to me in my time of dire need lol
I like watching reactions to NieR games because they really prove the point that the Automata credits were trying to make: you are not alone in the world. Seeing people react the same way I did to all these moments makes it hard for me not to cry because I'm reminded of how I felt when I first played these games. NieR Automata is a really special game to me because it's the first game that had me ugly crying no matter how many times I experienced it. Replicant is the same for me. Personal story: When I played through Route C of Replicant last year and finished Loyal Cerberus, I cried like crazy because my dog had to be put down a year prior and something about it reminded me of him. The cutscene with the wolf shade remembering its old owner before it died reminded me of my last moments with my dog at the vet. I had a hard time leaving him because of how much he meant to me. Route C hit the hardest because of the timing of when I played it and my recent experience with loss. Point is, reactions to the NieR series bring me comfort because I appreciate that I'm not alone in feeling strong emotions when I go through these games. Yoko Taro is absolutely incredible at what he does and I'm excited to see what his future projects have in store.
This... this right here is why you play the prequel first. I was balling by eyes out the moment Kaine's song played. But my friend, who hadn't played Replicant, was just enjoying the scene when he got there because he didn't know. I feel sorry for him. For not being able to experience such an emotional scene.
As someone who knew nothing of Nier, Drakenagard, or even Yoko Taro in general. I saw this game as nothing more than "the one with the super sick combat and the sexy robot woman with s-tier thighs," I was shocked and unprepared for how much I would cried, and how much this both fueled my deep existential dread and somehow made me at peace with it. Im glad you played the games in that order. I played the original Nier Gestalt (gestalt was xbox's release, replicant was playstations) The differences between Gestalt and Replicant were minor, but it brought a heavier impact for me. Too many people play this in the wrong order, or refuse to play replicant and honestly it hurts. The narrative/story in this game is way too precious. Also, there are quite a bit of secrets to explore if you are willing to go back and play again. One expands quite a bit more on Emil, more on Jackass, and hidden bosses. Thank you for all of the wonderful feelings throughout the playthrough!

I played automata then replicant ver 1.22 and I really do think that playing automata first, then replicant, then automata again is the best possible experience for a player. If you're only ever going to touch these games once then yes it is probably best to play replicant first so you're less confused overall. Something that people will surely need for replicant. Overall you can't go wrong with either play order since if just works both ways. But you can only experience these games for the first time once, and my preferred play order is the one I experienced, and so I have argued in favor of it. Either way, I want more people to play both of these games. They deserve it.

This game is so old and this year is the first time I have played it. I didn't play Replicant yet too. Nice to see someone who was so emotional, because this game have destroyed me. I am probably the only one who disliked 2B. I felt of course something bigger is within her but still I couldn't get to like her for how cold she was towards 9S, operator and fellow androids. Especially YoRHa. Of course, later we knew exactly why. As for 9S, his first words suggested that he is arrogant. Afterwards. Wow. I cherished him so much to the point I could get myself to play when he broke in the route c. Poor guy suffered so much. The English voice actor of 9S did so well. BTW, there is an anime series. I didn't watch it yet completely, but some scenes makes so much sense and make the story much more complete (at the same time some are wtf is that). Soon, I have a plan to play nier Replicant but I feel my heart can be not ready for it...

BTW, there is an anime series. I didn't watch it yet completely, but some scenes makes so much sense and make the story much more complete (at the same time some are wtf is that).
Soon, I have a plan to play nier Replicant but I feel my heart can be not ready for it...
A2 best
Wait, You didn’t get ending Y? Noooo
if you’re talking about the Emil boss fight ending, I watched it on youtube later
so Nier: automata first and then Nier: Replicant
i recommend replicant first but either works!
You should play the drakengard games.
人類に栄光あれ!
Dang I played Automata first, gotta play replicant ig
When Adam captured 9s I was like "oh no he captured the twink!"
Emil is the creepiest thing I've ever seen

Love the wandering couple sidequest. Peak sci-fi.
i was NOT expecting the turn it took, i was expecting very typical “help these NPCs and feel the warm fuzzies” but i should have known better
