      I know this is late, but I got a watch from my late father. And I tried finding out what it was and found you. You have gotten me into watches almost single handedly and I’ve already started collecting (seiko Prospex, and presage)
      You have taught me why watches are cool, how they work, and how to style them. Thank you for everything you do!

    As a professional mechanic, any G-Shock is the way to go. I have two in my collection and those are my go-to for when I’m doing any heavy or dirty work. Comfortable and utilitarian and not afraid to beat the crap out of it. I just couldn’t bring myself wear a Duro or a Seiko in the shop. Awesome video, I really like these videos where you teach the types of watches to wear in each situation while showing actual products.

    • @jonsonnenschein1253
      @jonsonnenschein1253 3 роки тому +2

      I would agree. I used to mechanic and now work outside out of a bucket truck. G-Shock is the only watch I can wear for work that will take a beating. I still wrench on vehicles at home, and with my regular job, if I were to wear that Casio Duro or Seiko, I would have it torn to pieces in about a week.
      When I'm not working, I wear a couple different Tissot's and a business Seiko.

    • @WatchUnwind
      @WatchUnwind 3 роки тому +2

      Smart. Never want to beat up a watch for no reason but G shocks are still awesome and are meant for the task. I work with kids and sometimes I’ll be like it’s a good day to wear my expensive watches to work and a hit will run up and hit my wrist with a toy or put my watch in their mouth

    Wow, that Mido! Much respect for their commitment to quality but I don't always find myself too drawn to their designs. This multifort looks like it could have cost ten times as much, easily my favourite from Mido, and one I would go for in the dressier every day style!

    All new in the watch game, so got a blue end a black dial Duro, and my son ,of 17,also loves to rock them both, ordered the Casio metal bracelets, for a more jewellery look, and combined with my new aguascaphe in blue, I got the impressive and understated, at a reasonable cost.

    Great series, Teddy. It would also be cool to see a series suggesting watches for specific activities/pastimes/pursuits (beyond the obvious big categories like diving). For example: I do a lot of motorcycle touring. On a two-week motorcycle trip, I tend to focus on the ride and the landscape and lose track of what day it is. So I find it helpful to wear a watch that’s quickly and easily legible, and that has a day/date display. Other considerations are size (it shouldn’t be too bulky under the sleeve of my jacket and glove gauntlets, but also shouldn’t be silly small on my big fat wrist), cost (don’t want to risk an expensive watch on a potentially adventurous trip), and lume (helpful to be able to read the watch in the tent in the middle of the night). I’ve ended up with a Hamilton Khaki King auto as my touring watch. For the smaller-wristed, a Seiko SNK would be a great choice. I’d love to see what suggestions come up for other kinds of everyday use cases.

    powermatic 80 is a great choice because essentially when you're in the office you're working a lot around computers and I've noticed in my own personal experience that some of my watches that don't have a silicone hair string become magnetized. It's such a fresh breath of air not having to worry about that with my omega and Tissot

    The Seiko SARB035 is my all-purpose dressed up and office watch. Neutral white dial, a minimalist-but-elegant sculpted case design, reasonable water resistance, and 38mm, so it’s the perfect dress watch size for my wrist. If I can go a bit more casual, then I’ll wear my white no-date Zodiac Super Sea Wolf on a Jubilee-style bracelet.

    If the Casio Duro is too big for you and you want a "Multi-situational" "beater" you could get the Invicta 37.5mm prodiver for less than $60. It's very slim, the case is actually somewhat more retro style and less submariner/oystercase, has a solid link bracelet (hollow end links and pressed clasp but its really nice for the price)

    • @vodizzzle

    Since 2020 lockdown, spending less time at the office and more time at home, I’m now more picky having less occasion to go out wear a timepiece.
    I have my routine now: 😅
    - dressy-Monday
    - vintage-Wednesday
    - casual/tool watch-Friday
    ... and finally I just keep that routine at home or I won’t wear much my watches.

    Tissot Gentleman's Powermatic 80 is a good everyday driver choice, however, I think you missed out on the 1-watch collection ---> Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra. I have 8 watches in my collection, including the aforementioned Tissot, a Breitling, a Hamilton Batman Diver as well as some Orient and Seiko Presage /5 choices, however, since I've gotten the Omega about 3 years ago - all others collect dust and have not been worn. I wear the Omega (on the stainless steel bracelet - w/blue dial) everywhere. Office, at home, evening out, golfing, swimming, hiking, biking, skiing... It'd such a comfortable, versatile and easy wear - and tough as nails. IMHO, it can't be beaten for price/value and sadly, missing from this video.

      @@dandc2011 I live in rural England, know most of the nefarious locals and I've never been in a situation where I've thought I could be robbed...the average vaper in the UK is female in their 40s so I'm not concerned about theft ( that's what insurance is for anyway )

    I really enjoyed this video, watched with my wife and she wished some more ladies watches were represented. That said we both appreciate the content as always. Thx

    Mine are Seiko's Sharp Edged and Mido's Belluna Royal. They are great with 70+ hrs power reserve and dominating my wrist 😁😁

    I’ve been rocking my Hamilton aviation khaki pilot “cooper” these days whenever I pop into the office (shirt/tie) and as a daily while I work. Great all rounder and fits under a cuff. As long as you don’t have tiny wrists it doesn’t wear big and is very functional w/its day/date complication. The datejust only comes out for more formal occasions, but in general for a daily I don’t feel like I should be wearing a much “higher end” watch than my boss as a rule of thumb.

    You should have a look at the Seiko Alpinist remake, the only Prospex having no diver's look. The SPB289J1 looks stunning, for instance. Also, for static jobs, Quartz movements might be a good option, so any high-end option here?

    There is no reason, whatsoever, for a mass production watch to cost 80,000 dollars.

      Is the FP Journe Chronometre Bleu (the watch I assume you're referring to) a mass production watch?

    • @BP-or2iu
      @BP-or2iu 4 місяці тому

      @@jonothankaplan No, I should’t have used that terminology. I meant a watch that isn’t custom made, one of a kind.
      Even that isn’t worth 80k.

    What you said about the JLC Polaris, I feel about the Zenith Defy, especially the new Skyline with the starred dials.
    I love that you didn’t go for the obvious Submariner/Speedmaster/Reverso/Tank etc…

    Rather than the Zenith for the mid business professional watch, I would think the Baume et Mercier Clifton Baumatic would be the best pick. A movement with a 5 day power reserve, 10 year service intervals, antimagnetic, and runs at 4Hz that's COSC certified. 40mm case and 10mm thick with exceptional finishing.

    Interesting video. For my multi situational office role I settled on a seiko Snzg13. It’s the perfect tool looking watch that isn’t flashy and cheap enough not to worry too much about potential dings. Would have loved the Hamilton version but couldn’t justify the price and then the worry about wearing it in a dangerous environment.

    I really want to get a Longines Dolce Vita. I find them much more appealing that the Cartier Tank (speaking only for my personal taste in watches).
