Happy you're playing the tribute. I first met Taylor when he was touring with Sass. Then I got to work with him on the Alanis JLP tour. So cool to watch him go from this unknown kid to the world renowned artist he became. In 17 years of tours I never met a nicer more genuine person . Everyone and I mean everyone loved him.
..well they didn't love him enough or his wife, family or band would have gotten him to rehab or some other help. No arguing that.

Justin, a very belated expression of sorrow for your loss of a friend. I just watched your performance at Wembly with Queen and the Foos and it brought me to tears. And now typing this is bringing me to tears. That was such a beautiful performance and tribute to Taylor, and also to Freddie. You fucking nailed it, brother.
It’s a bitter sweet thing as we are all still healing from T’s loss. I’m so happy for you that you’ll get to be there tomorrow. For all of those personally going to the show, enjoy it! Have the time of your lives. Let’s celebrate Taylor’s legacy!

I loved his Freddy Mercury warm ups. Eyyyyyyyyy Ohhhhhhh!!!!! It's a strange dynamic in a band, when the drummer is the best singer and the singer is the best drummer. A really sad loss. His poor kids and wife. They'll live with that loss every day. Life is very fragile. Enjoy every day.

Technically I think Taylor was actually the better at both.... Not that Dave isn't amazing, he has his own unparalleled style at both too not to mention being probably the best bloke in rock music in general. But also must be the toughest, I mean ffs how many times does he have to lose people... Sorry went off on one there....

Just so thankful that me and my wife got to see Taylor and Foo Fighters in Seattle 2018. I cried at that concert 3 times. Taylor will always be in our hearts ❤️

My best mate, who was also amazing drummer, musician, and friend, passed away last December. Whenever either of us were down, we would sing the chorus of I Believe in a Thing Called Love to brighten each other up. I recently found your channel and love the beautiful way you talk about music. It reminds me of how my friend and would pour over songs, production, and such. He would have loved your channel and the idea of the talented Justin Hawkins monologuing about music. It's bittersweet to watch your videos as it reminds me of him, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you, Justin! Looking forward to binging on more of your content. Cheers!

Hello Justin. I was at your sold out show in Winnipeg, Canada a few months back. It was my 1st concert in 2 years and maybe the best show I've ever attended. Left on a total high. Then I got home and opened social media to find out Taylor had passed. As a fan I was heartbroken and can't image how the news of losing your friend must have felt. I'm sorry for your loss. I can't wait to watch you perform tomorrow. I know you'll be amazing. All the best to you mate!

What amazing concert and tribute to Taylor, as well as many other amazing musicians we lost way too soon. I absolutely loved your performance! So happy you had a chance to shine and give back. You were brilliant. Was brought to tears listening to Wolfie, Violet and especially lost it when Shane beat the absolute shit outta that drum kit. Seeing Dave look back at him a number of times, I was thinking he was doing that to ask “Shane, buddy, you doing ok back there…oh yeah..you got this”. Dave’s smile said it all. To be 16, in front of a huge crowd, and still must have been the deepest stages of grief…it seemed like you could just see his playing as the emotional release of so much he had held inside. That was the absolute highlight for me. His dad had to be so proud watching from above. Seemed like he was playing the drums so his dad could hear. Eddie Van Halen is one of my biggest guitar influences, so seeing Wolfie tear it up was just awesome. While yes, Wolf, Violet and Shane have famous parents, and that helped them be in a position to be on that stage, but they absolutely showed their musical abilities earned them their rightful place on that stage. Great tribute!
I was headed to see Ghost on Saturday and had a three hour drive but before we left I had the Taylor tribute on and I was so happy I got to see you perform. It was fantastic! You should record a VH cover and release it. I’d buy it in a heartbeat.
I’m so sorry for your loss. The night I heard he passed I sobbed all the way home as I had missed my one chance to see him with the Foos as I was sick. He was a gift. Such a fantastic drummer and, by all stories, a great man. He is loved and missed by us all. ❤️

You were incredibly impressive at yesterdays tribute concert. Hard to inject that kind of vocal energy and make it work when playing an old VH song, but you nailed it. The Queen song was incredible as well. In a day full of great memories, for me you were right up there with Rush and the James Gang.

Taylor has been an inspiration not only for young drummers but drummers on general! I've been playing since 1980( I got my 1st kit the week BONHAM died) and I have developed my own style by taking something from drummers of the past 40 yrs and Taylor has given me plenty to work with! Always remain teachable and ROCK ON Y'ALL 😎😁✌️
Hey Justin. Your personality is very similar to my best friend who passed away a couple of years ago. He and I both loved The Darkness. I was going through a hard time when I came across your channel so listening has brought me much peace and comfort. I know he'd love these videos too. I wanted to thank you for that. Also, your musical insight is brilliant and has inspried me to become a better guitar player. Do you have practice routine? Or any tips for intermidiate players to better understand music theory?

I'm obviously not justin hawkins but I really recommend starting with triads and chords of a key when you're just learning music theory. I personally have ADHD and routines are the death of me when it comes to practice but I like to grab 4 concepts to work on and cycle through them. That way you don't get burn out or bored and then in between the practice I learn the songs from bands I love.
Learning your favourite songs and solos will help you build the sounds you love in your hands and then you can find your own voice out of that.
But chords of a key and triads are a huge piece of theory knowledge that really helps and causes "breakthroughs".
Then you realize all the fancy minor7, major7, minor 9, major 9, #11 or #13 is just a triad with an extra interval in it. Honestly if you have 50$ I highly recommend the Rudiments by samurai guitar theory. He has all of this in diagrams and videos that you can follow along and print off if you prefer not to stare at a screen to see the diagrams.
That course really helped theory click for me and it just makes sense now.
But triads, modes, intervals and chords in a key are some of the pillars.
