My first leper clear was with runaway, jester, and plague doctor. Upgraded smokescreen is so good bc it gives combo and vulnerable which means more damage and more consistency!
I recommend occultist, jester, runaway, leper. Basically the goal is to have perma combo tokens up while everything is blinded/weakened/vulnerable. Leper will revenge then break through front line while occultist + jester focus on 3 4 with dots and direct dmg. Unlike hellion who requires buffs to pull off 1 shot after setup, leper benefit more from attacking every turn after 1st turn revenge. Runaway's job is to buff either jester or occult with firestarter depending on turn order then use smoke. If occult first then use abyssal and encore with jester. If jester comes first then harvest with him while occultist either pull or weaken curse. Admittedly, no plague doctor means that your team's stress will move between 6 to 3 with jester doing the management. But I found this team so insanely powerful that it was worth the slow buildup to positive bond. All optional bosses, warren, and all encounters tested multiple times.
While relying on lin itself may be a bit far fetched, you can also use items like the net that targets enemies to proc one blind token. It's also worth noting that you can use intimidate as well for this so if you want to take a few blows while also procing a token there is that option as well.
In my run now I got the trinket that gives you a crit token when you miss. It combines SO WELL with the blindness. Sometimes I just hit and miss with the blind token, which gives me a crit token for next attack.
Majority of the buffs that offset Leper can be remedied with items, and yes they can be relied upon because they are *plentiful* and powerful. The game is really easy now.
While it is true that Hew gets more dmg over time, Chop is still better. Allowing you to oneshot a Lot of enemies is amazing. Consider this: You have to hit once with Chop to kill sth and you have to hit 2 Targets 2 Times with Hew. When there are 2 enemies, you take the same a Mount of attacks since you need 2 Turns with Hew and Chop. But as soon as Block and Dodge are there the Math Changes. Hew becomes better. But since you want to apply combo so that the Leper can actually hit you usually need to apply Combo. The best Options are Jester, Runaway and Occultist. All of them help get rid of Dodge Tokens and 2/3 heavily favor Chop since Jester deals dmg which removes Block and Runaway applies Vulvernable, which gets rid of Block and allows for a greater Burst of dmg from Chop. Furthermore Chop is superior in fighting Single enemies in the Front. Hew loses it's upside when there is only 1 Enemy. Chop is usually a better move to have than Hew bc it Deals larger Single Target dmg, which is usually better in both DD games. Using Reflection to remove Blind is a good Option, but applying Combo Tokens is usually better, since giving up a Turn with Leper can easily result in a Lot of lost dmg. As previously Said, Smokescreen from the Runaway and Fade to Black from the Jester are both very good at enabling the Leper after they have been upgraded. A more offensive Setup that gets Leper's offensive up really quickly is Occultist. Daemons Pull applies Combo even when it's not Upgraded, allowing Chop to be upgraded at the first Inn.
I actually disagree with many points in this video. The build you shown is fine in the first 2 biomes but after that I would switch break to chop, hew to intimidate/purge/bash and reflection to revenge. Chop simply outclasses every other skills in terms of raw damage, and break is only situationally useful on block tokens, which are not very common and annoying. I do not use hew as in darkest dungeon generally you want to focus and kill someone as soon as possible, aoe attacks are too slow in this case. Running reflection is unnecessary as blind tokens can be consumed by Leper's utility attacks without generating another blind token. Reflection is only good for the combo removal, stress heal and clearing occasional 2 blind starts. At this point you should have a team which can reliably remove tokens and apply combo so it is most optimal to focus leper as a high dps character. For the upgrades you should upgrade chop first for ignoring blinds, revenge and withstand.
Can you explain how it is more efficient to use reflection to remove the blind effect rather than take a chance with an attack missing? If you attack and miss isn't that the same as taking a turn off to use reflection? So to me it seems like the only useful thing about reflection is the -1 stress...? Wouldn't it always be more efficient to take a chance at missing with blind, and on top of that you get an extra ability slot for purge to clear corpses if you don't take reflection?
It's more efficient because it's a guaranteed hit. If you take the chance to use Hew/Chop/Break all the time you have the chance to miss multiple turns in a row. Will you get lucky sometimes, sure, but when push comes to shove I'd rather have guaranteed hits when I need them.

@@spencersmith4373 I think the idea is that if you keep going for the Leper's attacking moves the blind will never go away so there's a chance every turn that you'll miss. I mean there's also a chance that the Leper just goes beast mode and keeps landing his attacks but Reflection just ensures that you'll also get an attack in every other turn.

I know, that you could take Path at moment, when video came out, but can you explain for me Monarch Path? I used it and it is very powerful vs Cosmic enemies but VERY-VERY bad vs anyone else.
I wanted to try this hero, but he often starts a fight blinded, before even using any selfblinding attack! Why? Too irritating, had to drop him because of this

Reflection is only needed if you need further self stress heal. Bash can be used to get rid of blind since it has no chance to blind you again.

Can someone explain why you'd upgrade ruin? The only difference I could see is that it applies a self bleed.. why would you want that?
coz the self bleed damages you and procs the 20% damage buff
