Really good information. I find it quite challenging to find the marks on mostly featureless beaches so i usually head for structures but when the surf pounds with an onshore blow the sand meeting shingle works best just like you say.
The best bass I've caught on a lure was under the the Shoreham fly over tight against the station with a sidewinder eel 8lb and caught at 10 ft out but the river was racing in
Again matt so much good advice, by the time i get my new motorhome and finally go fishing im gonna be a expert couch Bass fisherman lol again thank u matt
I've landed a good few bass at that mark too - but closer to low-tide. Been worried about being cut off over high. Perhaps the smaller tides are safer. Awesome info Matt, thank you!
Another great, informative video Matt.👏👏👏 Where I fish mostly is just very gentle to almost flat sandy beach. Always changing. But still seen bass caught. Is that just luck?🤔🤔 No big sandbanks, or visible holes or gulleys. Looks like I need to find some rockier ground. 🥸🤓 Take care and stay safe😷🙊
Excellent knowledge share, Matt, thank you, Sir! Just moved down to Cornwall, from the Midlands, and am curious when I hear “Bass season”. Is it unlikely to catch bass on lures during the colder months? We are in December now, and I am just starting to chuck lures around, and am having blast, but as of yet, not a sniff of a fish.
Water temperature ! Those bass are lazy and if they require energy they need warmer water. So yes unlikely , not impossible and I always think best to focus one’s attention when the bass are actively seeking the bait fish
@@SaltwaterAngler Excellent, thank you, Matt. Guess I'll bust out the beach launcher and try some worm/squid/fish on my ledger tackle! Really wanted a surface lure bass, though, guess I'll have to wait! Tight lines, my friends. 🎣
Another excellent video, surfing bass on the incoming tide for me but I'm restricted to where I can fish. Session on ye olde pier coming soon, if you're brave enough 🤣🤣🐸💖🤗🤗🤗🤗
You would not believe the amount of thought I put in to that question ! Unfortunately I’m thinking it depends on brightness and water clarity - so a brighter lure lower down when it’s clear and bright. A shallow diver if its bright and still . But if they have hammered them recently maybe floating bent minnows or untouched patchinkos
@@SaltwaterAngler My nearest bit of ocean is the Suffolk coast where there are a lot of shingle/sand beaches (as well as lots of whiting). I'll have to check this out, I don't have bent minnows but hopefully a patchinko (and an odd selection of other lures) will catch the bass. Would you say spring tides make fishing this scenario a lot better? Thanks, Dan
So on your live the other night you didn’t want to blow a mark but will show a mark that’s not on your doorstep with Google earth great work cheers for that
If I could answer this more broadly - It’s not blowing a mark by generically showing how fish move up and down a reef as an example. Sea angler magazine has shown marks for years in a similar broad sense. Some marks are well known and cover miles of coastline covered in books from 50 years ago. Specific marks are different of course particularly when a large fish is caught there. I make no apology for helping subscribers understand reef systems over 3 miles. The video contained b footage from over 10 locations from Kent to Devon! It is also sensible to not mention the exact location of lives , a big fish from that location is a very specific location. I’d reassure you that people have to take action and you don’t catch fish by knowing a location. Two things can be true at the same time.
its a breath of fresh air to find a channel thats truly educational and helpful to beginners like myself many thanks
Thanks for that - hope you get to check out our beginners guide to bass too 🫡
@@SaltwaterAngler you can guarantee it

Actually that is a good point as the tide comes right up to the cliffs on springs - pick your spot carefully

What types of lures are best for when bass are hunting whiting, where sand meets shingle?

How are things?,insane - all the best, ✨
What is wrong with those british bass that they hit hard plastic lures, a rarity in croatia, thats what it is
Ha ha !
