Good video cobber surplus store 4 fishing bags , my granddaughter & I have good results useing prawn shaped lures catching good sized flathead & other fish .Happy catching from AUSTRALIA Nick
Super video, always interesting to see what another angler carries and how they fish- very inspirational. Would love to do some lure fishing for Bass here in Suffolk, some great estuaries to explore and some shallow beaches to try.
Sort of , again horses for courses. South west surf and estuaries any types. Metals throughout the year but shads and soft plastics early season when the bass are searching the rocks for small fish and crabs. When the macks and herring arrive the bigger hard plastics come out
Just seen this by accident, fished Gower up to a few years ago before I packed up angling in this country in disgust at fisheries management (lack of!!). We fished the shore, rarely caught fish under 4lb and limited our keep rate to a 2 fish limit voluntarily but now see clowns keeping 2lb fish thinking they are great. Always used trout imitation plugs until the mackerel show or around July time, Rapala tail dancer or jointed rainbow trout lures outfish everything else 7 fish to 1 as sea trout migration big around here. Returned to fishing last year, bass stocks destroyed in comparison fom late 70's early 80's. Slivers were killers trolling Mumbles to the Worm, on the boat early morning or in thundery weather, electric storms got the gars going nuts feeding, so were Storm and Rebels jointed or deep divers which exaggerated their actions, on the boat, only used jellies for pollack. Good luck this season.
Nice one thanks Matt! Surprised there wasn't any SG Panic Prey lures in the box! SG seekers & surf seekers are great - what's your favourite colour? Stay safe & well - Dave. 🎣🎣👍👍
White Bass Stick is a great night time lure- I just keep my rod up and wind in very slowly. I put holographic eyes on them. It isn't a lure I would go to in the day though, I would probably choose something with a bit more movement. It is a good distance (22g) soft, as this slightly firmer plastic casts better, I can cover the reefs easily with the Stick. I've had some quality fish on it, check out my 78cm on Sidewinder's gallery.
Hi mate , what's the latest in the year you go lure fishing for bass or is it a year round possibility with changes of lure types obviously . Many thanks 👍
It is a year round possibility- However for me as I’ve said many times it’s effort to reward- basically it’s harder to catch by some margin in Nov- may . I’m not keen in fishing bass nursery areas (another viable option) for small pre spawning bass too. But if you don’t fish for anything else then I say yes you can catch a bass in every month of the year on lures. Autumn best but only if it’s not too blown out
Lol I just use what ever I like look off when out. Maybe I should think a little more on what I'm using. Guess when you don't lure fish much you dont think what should be used lol. Nice informative video.
There is a danger of over analysing but I think people focus on things like the finish on a lure or the exact colour pattern when we should consider where it is in the water table and how it matches what the bait fish are. But I probably do think too much !
@@SaltwaterAngler to be fair I get confused as to what to use as and when. Always bait fished and normally pick venues that are distance ones as I know I will over cast. And if not have to take rods that are not casting tools to stop me. Same with lure fishing i will take some thing i like and use over what i should be using. Still have a new rod and reel i got last summer that not used as love my abu one. But as I love the thrill of lure fishing I really should learn some more.
Do you wade in shorts this time of year Matt? A three hour session in my waders sucks the heat out of me, think I'll leave the shorts for a couple of months :)
Hi Matt, I’m looking for a lure reel to go with my HTO Nebula 9ft 7-35g lure rod. HTO do their own one but I’m not entirely convinced. Not sure if you can give me any recommendations? Many thanks
Shimano 2500- 3500 as you prefer. Model number dependent on budget. That’s it really !such a good reel brand . Get the HG rating (hugane) check out the saltwater angler website for some details
I've never got on with the plastic lures they never seem heavy enough so I can only cast them 20ft, much prefer the metal ones or black minnow type can send them whistling out miles.....that said I've only ever caught one bass on a lure!
Ha, maybe theres something to do with confidence. Those seekers are good but as i try to get across so many factors to consider before we even look at what the lures made out of. Thanks for your comment
@@SaltwaterAngler most definitely, also my set up is mediocre at best I use it for pike and mackerel so it's just some random mono with a shock leader and rid and reel only cost £40!
I reckon that bag weighs in at about 25 kg 😂😂😂😂. Please down size it or your going to pass away en route to your fishing trips and we won’t get any videos 😂😂😂. Lovely video. Thank you.
its called a sidewinder bass stick , iv caught alot on them at night
Yes! Thanks for that 👍
That one's a bass stick and they're lethal around sunken boulders in low light conditions.
I believe the soft lure is a sidewinder bass stick , I've just put my kit together ready to go, I'm determined to get out more this year 👍
Ohh let me check thank you 😊
Great video. If I may I would suggest a pair of Costa sunglasses. Yes they are expensive but you'll see the difference straight away.
Every angler loves a shiny thing in the bag Matt, you can never have too many lures :) great vid!
Yes indeed thanks for the watch
Hi Matt all they are taking atm is white seekers on the drop
Nice to see you back on it👍
Nice, I always fish seekers like that. Top man cheers

Thanks as always Nick , always enjoy your Aus reports !
Interesting insight to what your bag contains. Sun tan cream is one of my essentials for the summer months.
Hi Ian , Yea Sun cream is thing i get told off for not taking !
@@SaltwaterAngler You don't need sun cream at night :)

Thanks Bill, Suffolk underrated for bass I’ve heard.
Sidewinder bass sticks at the end mate nice little video
Yea , thanks I must be getting old and forgetful!
Hi nick here from Portugal, love your videos, if you have lures you don't use old one remenber me,
Never actually knew you'd use softies at one point in the season, then change to hard lure, then metals as the season progresses....

Thanks , smart comments 👍 Locally we suffer from some chalky , murky water at times and I wonder if the vid is similar to night conditions !
Very interesting and informative 👍 nice upload, kind regards Mike.
Many thanks again Mike
Lovely video matt super job!
Thanks
Nice content Matt I find them metals like the ones you have up at 14.30 minutes fairly good for a mixture of different species.. 👍
Cheers Lee , yea always have a few handy
Great video, that lure looks like a sindwinder bass stick 😀
It is! good spot

Did you try those replica lures and what do you think about them?
Nothing more than a couple of casts - so verdicts out at the moment

You can have the last laugh when you catch on it though
Fish at night, distance is much less of an issue.
@@barlow2976 with lures??

Good point! When it gets wet its 50kg ! - To be honest most of the weight i carry is camera gear to bring you the vids !
that lure is called a "fucked if i know" but it does look good
I’m getting that more and more as I get older !
Hi there is there a reason you don't use swivels with these lures?
for me its that they might cause a distraction to the Bass in shallow coastal waters. i dont like the spin during casting.
hai bro super
Great video 👍
Thanks Stevie
White 12 gram Mr Joe lure thank me later great content👍
Thanks for the comment , will thank you if I catch on it 😉
Where is this place?
Mixture of spots here Dover is the drone footage on the south coast
