      @@a.nobodys.nobody No. It is NOT “smooth Jazz”! I cannot believe we are having this conversation!! Benson is a million miles away from “smooth jazz”, the very fact that you think this, that illustrates that you know absolutely nothing about the genre. Benson is straight ahead Jazz which borders on fusion, you are confusing his music that was created for the commercial market which is more down to “production values” than his actual playing.

      Not underrated. As a kid learning to play guitar, Ibanez made me aware of both George and Frank Gambale. There are a lot of guys working in obscurity for little or no money or recognition. We know about George.

    14 years and holding strong for this video post. A true testament to the guitar mastery and genius of Mr. Benson. And kudos as always to Jazz Audrey for having great taste in music.✌🏻

      I didn't, until I talked to a 90 year old jazz drummer tonight, who's known George since he was a kid. He told me to leave the "commercial" stuff and look for the real deal. I found this. Now I realize.

    I just want to say thank you 🙏🏻 Jazzaudrey for posting this video. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched this nor how long. It’s got to be one of my All Time Benson performances, he is master of his domain here and just puts the pedal to the floor and goes for it.

    two absolutely amazing musicians. i was all, "damn! that guitar solo kicks ass!" then the sax came in and just blew me away. its one of the hardest things to cover this song and do your own rendition. i'm very impressed

    Man. He's not even 'shredding' . He's literally singing along with his mouth for almost the entire solo. Like he's hearing all of that as melody in his head on the spot. Out of control.

      I would venture to say he is #1 among those mentioned, like nearly untouchable. Just because of the genre alone, those other guitarists, great though they obviously are, they're not in his league, no disrespect. The complexity of the harmony, jazz runs etc...

    • @santeebaba
      @santeebaba 2 роки тому

      @junaluo.As much as I revere GB I will not say that people like BB King,Eric Gale and Eric Clapton are out of his league.I think that's an over-statement.

    I remember spending about 6 months learning his rendition of "Masquerade" back in the 70s. The notes were all there but still wasn't even close. Nevermind that he also has a wonderful singing voice and I sound like Johnny Cash after a bad night.

    Attended two George Benson concerts. The first during the 70's while stationed in California. The second during 2017 at the Kennedy Center in DC for his tribute to Nat King Cole. Both concerts were magnificent.
