Hey George! Thanks so much for the honest feedback! Totally understand your hesitation based on what you look for in your EDC. At HQ we use the compression straps and gear straps (the buckles on the front) quite a lot, but if they're not useful to you personally we can see how they'd actually interrupt the functionality for you. The Rover Pack was designed to be a smaller option for people who find our Klettersack too much bag for everyday use. Regarding the price, it's partly due to the premium materials (like the 1000D Cordura and size 10 YKK zippers), and partly due to being made in the USA. The pack also comes with a lifetime warranty. Based on your feedback, it sounds like our Core Pack (which has all of the features you mentioned you'd like to see) might be a better option. Got a Rover Pack about a week ago to match my Topo Quick Pack New Balance (which I love), and I wasn't very impressed either...
Yeah.. I'm on the fence about Topo I only seen a few packs I liked..
After almost a couple of months looking for the right EDC for ME, I found that the Rover Pack is a close contender - I haven't decided yet on my final purchase. I find the size to be perfect, and it's not bulky like other bags that look bulky eventhou they are empty... I particularly like the straps on the side pockets because it is really tough to find a small/medium EDC with large side pockets that would fit a large coffee thermo on one side and a medium umbrella on the other side... the only thing i am not a big fan of is the lenght of the straps, it's a bit too much overall.
