In this video I go over the bag itself, what I pack for EDC, hiking and as a camera bag. #TOPODesigns #TopoRoverPack

I love this bag! I’ve chucked out all my handbags cos they’re not big enough to carry all my stuff. So now I use the Rover bag everyday plus for travelling etc 👍
Great review, thank you Chris! This bag caught my eye at REI and I needed more opinions before making the splurge. Love how you talked about your actual use cases and how you packed it.
Glad you pointed out not having a false bottom. Really good review thank you.
Thank you! I appreciate it!
Been watching a couple of reviews of the Rover Pack, by far yours is the best! Keep it up! I love how you explained the way you utilize it..and all those accessories and gear..awesome! After watching this review, I just have to order one for myself :)
Thanks so much. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
Ive watched your vid like 4 times and just made the purchase..thank you for this review even though u posted this like a few years ago it was super helpful!!!
You’re welcome! I hope you enjoy the bag. I am pretty sure they have made some upgrades and I know they have many versions of it now. Thanks for watching.
This made the decision easier for me. Thanks for the straightforward review!
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
I just got the Rover pack recently in all Navy and I like how compact it looks.
Maybe a weird note, I kinda wished they kept the "Colorado, USA" under their Topo Designs words for their logo. Their newer packs/productions no longer have that. I dunno, kinda makes me feel good to rep the state and country even though I'm not even from the US lol!
I love this pack!
Some of the certain color ways in this specific pack aren’t actually made in the US. The ones that are, will have the tag. If you look on their website it’ll say where it’s made on the specific colors.
Nice i just ordered a new Belgium beer version of this.
Thanks for the thorough review. I am kind of in "lust" with this bag right now, stalking it online. I've watched your review 3 or 4 times. Curious how this bag has held up since your video posted a little more than a year ago? I think I plan to have a similar use case as a day pack for hiking and possible EDC for around town. From one backpack junkie to a suspected another, are you still using the Rover Pack or did something new catch your eye?
Thank you! I love my Rover Pack. It is my hiking pack and I used it for edc if I don’t have a lot to carry. Over quarantine I picked up a Peak Design Travel Backpack. It’s a little large but past two months I’ve been using it every day. Able to get my laptop, tech gear and meal prep bullshit in there comfortably. As for holding up, it holds up extremely well and cleans up pretty easily too.
super light bag, compared to herschel
Thanks for the review! Nice choice of color as well. Is the laptop compartment padded & suspended off the bottom of the bag??
Thanks! The bag does not have a false bottom so the laptop sleeve goes pretty much to the bottom of the bag. As for padding, it rests against your back which is padded, but the front is just the pack cloth so it’s not padded all the way around. I don’t fear for it due to the lack of padding, more so accidentally dropping it.
@@dubyahMUFC I see so it is only padded on one side. Thanks again!
Thanks to this video I purchased a rover pack , tech case and few accessory bags for my EDC gear. I love this bag and the quality is super good. Any new updates on what you carry or still rocking the rover pack?
I still love this bag. Use it when ever I need too. I am working from home now so I don’t use a bag too often anymore. What tech case did you pick up? I’m still using the PD tech case for the most part because it’s so easy to fan open on the desk.
@@dubyahMUFC I got the Topo Tech Case using half of it for my tech things and the other half for EDC / tools / mini iFAK since it's pretty good size. I love it.
Great review. Been thinking about getting the bag my self. Something small-ish to carry on airplanes as a laptop bag and won’t get hassled about as a “personal item” that accompanies my small rolling carry on I also bring. You think this bag can fit that mold or is too big?
Thanks! I believe it will work for what your saying. I really love this bag and it’s castle become my favorite of my current three bags. It’s not too big and you should easily be able to use this as carry on.
Chris Williams awesome. Thanks!!
Hi,
What are your thoughts on their canvas backpack?
Great review! I really want the mini but the water bottle pocket is useless I hear. Too tight and doesn't stretch.
I love the design though so I guess I'll get the regular sized one.
You have any recommendations for EDC bags? Around $100 give or take. I want it too look good, no tactical stuff, and it has to have a good water bottle pocket.
Thanks. I am not sure how the new ones look, when I reviewed this they only had this model. I use this as an ESC bag, but I’ve been using a sling/fanny pack recently. Not carrying as much these days. I do however really like the Topo Core Pack.
@@dubyahMUFC what bag would you recommend to carry a 13.3" MacBook air and the rest of my EDC stuff?
I can't decide on this bag. I love the look but I feel like a bag at this price should have better back padding/ventilation
Hey man I love the review but i have a question, I have a 16 inch macbook and i need to know if it will fit in this bag before i order it. it does not have to fit in the laptop insert in the backpack But i just need to know if i can fit it in the bag
skipndrip I have this backpack and it could easily fit your 16 MacBook
Thanks for watching! I imagine the laptop sleeve would hold the 16in MacBook.
Do you think the laptop compartment offers enough protection? Im torn between this bag and the little america, I want my ipad to be ok 😆
Are you going hiking or using it as a daily carry? Daily carry I think it would be fine. I use it all the time and carry my iPad Pro and MacBook Pro. They’ve both been fine.
What do u think about the red mountain pack bag from topo? I just ordered it but wanted your opinion
I think the Mountain Pack looks awesome. I didn’t need anything that large, as of right now I’m just doing light day hiking. Well...right now I’m quarantined. Haha. You’ll have to let me know what you think about it. I really like the looks and function of it and their newer Subalpine bag. Would love to check them out and review them in the future.
Hey have you heard about their rover tech? If so what do you think?
Oh I’ve looked at it haha! I was excited but ultimately let down. I think the color ways are kind of ugly for such a classic and heritage style bag. Not a lot of difference in them, this def looks like it has a much nicer back panel and the water bottle pockets are stretchy! That’s about the only update that I’m interested in tbh. I much prefer the internal laptop sleeve as opposed to the one behind the back panel because I have the travel bag and it’s much larger. My 15in MacBook Pro WILL NOT fit in it. I don’t care what their employees say, doesn’t fit. Fits perfectly in my Rovers internal.
Affordable Tech Reviews thank you! That helps since I am trying to decide between the classic and tech!
I find the water bottle packets way too small. No back ventilation unfortunately either.
Is that a James coffee hat?
Absolutely.
Great vid.
