I am an old guy who has never used these types of things- my fish finder is from the mid 1990s so when my wife bought me a brand new Lowrance Elite FS I was, to be honest, overwhelmed. More so- I don't own a boat but I do go to fish camps where I rent small boats, so I needed to figure out how to develop something functional, portable, and durable. This helps and with a guy with ZERO mechanical aptitude, I found your video extremely helpful!! If you ever get to Ohio- the drinks are on me!! Any of you Lowrance company guys out there please pass on that your installation directions might be fine for guys installing in a boat they own- but for the rest of us who go from experience to experience in small fish camps- the directions are downright deplorable. I heard the walleye/saugeye are great there! Tips for that extendable mount, it may cause some water going in the boat if you travel higher than 10 MPH, and the height needs to be adjusted well to get the best sonar reading, especially the side imaging. I had just ordered mine today from Cabelas along with a Garmin Striker 4. I saw another video of a removable pole that looked like a good set up. $149.99 !!?? Glad I already bought this one and found your video. Very helpful for future install. I also ordered a Tohatsu 6 hp. Can wait to get it all together on SIB.
Great to hear that! A trick for the transducer mount is you may want to put a piece of Velcro or some form of tape on your transom to reduce vibration.
@@SteveChenFishing I have some pieces of felt for bottom of legs to protect the laminate floors. I will try a big piece of it. Thanks. I am just hoping the pole will fit between the wheel bracket and rear inflations tube.

Hi mate ,,,,,,,you know that you could put some green led lights on the pole just above your transducer mount,,,,just zip tie the led lights on the pole for night fishing well that's my idea 💡 😉
If you have the Garmin Striker 4 the transducer bracket that comes with the machine is to thick for the bolts they give you to attach it to the mount you will have to go buy new bolts to get them far enough through to get nuts on.
How’s this holding up? Does the clamp hold tight when mounted and cruising? I only have a 6HP and would rather not drill holes. Same price and more simple than using the no drill methods I’ve seen.
Curious if you ever used this on the rented boats at Quabbin reservoir in central MA? I'm wondering if the arm is long enough, especially for side imaging? Thanks!
Good question! It depends. At certain position it interfere with one side of side imaging. At others no. Still trying to figure out what’s the best position.

ok. got the removable mount together. Now my transducer mount won't work. Did you buy a separate mount to attach to bottom of removable?

I got one and used it for a year now it's starting to rust. I wemt ahead and got a magnetic one and love it much better. Doesn’t slow speeds down.
Yes that’s one of the pain points it does rust.

It’s pretty sturdy, just need really tighten it well to avoid getting loose. I check it every time when I launch the boat.

Used there before. Good enough for their 14 ft 8hp boat.
Just want to make sure you don’t over extent it and it will create drag and scoop water in the boat somehow 🤣

I just purchased this but 22" seems a bit short. Does your trolling motor interfere with your graph?

Mine all rusted to the core, bad quality
Mine slightly rusted not impacting function.
