Vince; Thanks much great prep job, Outstanding Air brushing and painting, best I have ever seen. I had no idea, I but understand now why all the care is required. I had a 36 great years with them but not in these products that you are using. I got to the point at a few years back, that I walk right by the cheaper products and pick the 3M products. Tape, Sand Paper, Scotch Brite and Safety Products At eighty years old and retired 25 years, why take a chance to save a dime, When we are getting short on time. Would that be a no-brainer? I definitely want to try painting on the classic cars , trucks and bikes I have.

Did signs for years and used the same large masking tape. It will get flexible with a touch of water. You can easily smooth it down with a small spritz and once you get it smoothed out just let it dry. It will flex that way without wrinkles.
When I say small spritz I'm referring to the paper side, not the tacky side.

+obieezx11 Riiiiight... Because the end product looked like shit, huh? Whatever... people do what works best for them. Just because you can't get a good result with your fingers, doesn't mean that other people can't either. Case in point, this fucking video. You can feel just as many details with your finger tip, as you can with your palm. Let's see the results of your work. Everyone has to talk shit about someone else's work, but don't have shit to show for their own. Gotta love youtube critics.

I've been getting really poor spray patterns from the cheaper airbrushes I used while I started doing artwork, really need to upgrade my airbrush soon, I use devilbiss gti's for my automobile work so I do know the value of the more expensive equipment, your work is really impressive, thanks for taking trhe time to film and post this, very inspirational.

I had a bike shop owner quote me $800 to paint a raw EFI sportster 3.3 gal tank that is indented design on the side. I was going gloss black all around and silver on the indented part. I thought 800 was outrageous for just the tank but he kept talking about prepping it because its raw. Is this a normal price or just a rip off?

I currently have a honda shadow with a black gloss finish on the tank. Haven't decided if I want to strip the paint and put a clear finish over the bare chrome or do a matte black finish. Would you recommend using a sander to remove all of the paint to reveal the bare chrome? And what product would you recommend for a clear finish to avoid rust? Same product question if I choose to apply a matte finish.

I really hate to say this but, the factory did not paint over a fully chromed gas tank. I think you mean bare metal. If by some strange reason they did chrome it and then paint it, you sure don't want to sand it down, the chrome would be ruined. But trust me it's just bare metal under the factory black paint and the primer. Hope it turns or turned out nice for you, what ever you decided to do.

A Haynes manual might be more of a guide,.....you can't just spray over any type of paint,... either you know what type of paint the bike came with or you take it to bare metal,...it used to be enamel or lacquer but my employer tried to make me use paint you mix with water and base coat clear.
    I only use enamel.
There's paint they consider to be the best but it can mess you up,... don't spray it.
Don't even bother painting a bike frame,.....have it powder coated.
I can make a tank 1 or 2 colors and that's enough for me.
And you will have a hell of a time keeping a paint job,..... people will screw it up while your out in public.
    Mirrals are exotic art.
