It's not bad, David. I'm surprised at the number of folks who've viewed this little video! I use the vertical as a back-up to a W3DZZ trap dipole, which is also pretty efficient. These connect to my Yaesu FTdx1200 via an LDG YT1200 automatic atu. - Pete M0GOH
Peter Preston I think in England everyone's got the same planing issues and the comet seems to be the answer. The reviews are very mixed I see on ehams. I'm currently using a Hustler 6BTV verticle antenna that's totally deaf towards the west.
Yes, you're right David. The Diamond SE300 serves me reasonably well on VHF/UHF and the W3DZZ dipole give better results than the Comet vertical (above) on 40m and below. I had thought of buying the Hustler myself, so I'm interested to hear your observations. 73 Pete
Peter Preston Hi Peter re Hustler 6BTV I'm impressed by its build quality and compromised performance. When I put it up I had 3 radials per band but now only 2 earthrods. 10m Iv worked Argentina and the Falklands on 10w ssb and cw. 15m Alaska cw and most of the west coast. 20m Most of Asia Inc Australia and New Zealand. Antarctica 30w cw 30m only EU 40m New Zealand ssb. No dx on 80m just EU. I fingers that it works just as well without radials but the swr is now slightly higher. I compared it on 10 15 and 20m V a Dual Beam Pro with the hustler being around 3 S point's better on tx. Most qso are qrp cw so pleased all round Peter
