Have one in my little garden. Every time I deployed it, had contacts. Very easy to put away in the garden shed. 5 Minutes work. Other antenna could be more efficient but not so easy in use.
Hello Peter and first off I’d like to say that your videos are an excellent source of information and benefits from your years of experience. I have a situation that I’d like to run by you. I live in Manchester and my garden is long and narrow. I have an EFHW oriented north/south up about 12 meters horizontally. One end is supported on my tower and the other on a Spiderpole. It works very well in the east west direction, but there is a significant null in the north south direction. I was thinking of installing a Diamond BB7V on top of the tower and it being omnidirectional it would give north south radiation. I was wondering what your thoughts were re this installation and whether it would couple with the EFHW.
Ive nist stumbled across this video amd i habe to say thank you for reuploading it, im new to ham radio, having only even used CBs and Sidebanders, currently going for my licence, infact its in 10 days! 😱 But anyways, where i live i cannot put a huge ariel up, id love to but can't however this looks like it could tick all those boxes, my only question is, my radio is t a big fancy ham radio, as i wont purchase something like that till ive past my full test, im currently using a CRT SS790PV Turbo, which for what it is is pretty good, well to me anyways, im used to the old Cobra Mk2s lol, so my concern with this antenna os u mentioned using a tuner, would i have to buy one to use it or is there a way of adjusting it? As i only have that radio and a swr meter? Thanks
Peter thank you for yet another insightful video. My question is will the antenna be suitable for permanent mounting at say 5mtrs above ground on a scaffold pole or better mounted at ground level?
I am intending to use this antena with my icom 705 ... When i use the icom ah-705 tuner should i keep the antenna matching unit ? or should i connect the ah-705 telescopic masts directly on the telescopic ast leaving out the Antenna resistors ?
Hello Peter, Is the BB7v still available? I have one here in Belize and it works really well. I thinking of getting one for my UK house when I visit later this year 73' Keith - V31ZA
I am looking for an aerial and I’ve got it down to these two. Would you have any suggestions or maybe even another one for a small garden? BB7V or Diamond CP-VU8
What is the power handling capacity on SSB and would it perform better at say 30 feet above the ground? Does it come with the screws to lock the sections permanently in place? Thanks!
Hi there. The power handling is 100W and it is best used at around level or just a few feet above. The sections are self locking and for extended use it would be wise to weather seal these joints. 73s Peter
After watching this video I got one of these. I would like you to know there is no Band I can't get on with the worst SWR is 2.2 and that is on 160 meters most SWR are around 1.3 to 1.5 and that is on every band, and thought out the band from Ht. to Low this including 6 meters and by the way 60 meters is there as well. thank you for this .
Dear OM, Where do you purchase tripod and master pipe? here is South Korea it's difficult to purchase ham equipment. maybe I purchase in not Korea but you purchased site. please let me know where do you purchase.

Excellent presentation Shaun N.E. England
How well does this compare to the buddistick ? From the spec, the BB7V has more frequency range at a higher price but wonder about the performance.
Noticed in the comments you stated the power handling is 100W. ?? At the intro to the video power capacity is stated as 250W ?? Which is it ??
Looks very nicely engineered.
No loading coils, no UnUn? How can it present a low Z Ω on all bands?
That cylindrical object at the bottom is a coil, he mentions it in his other video.
Do you think radials would help this antenna, I have a narrow garden and can only run radials east west
Thank you and great videos
That radio is a beauty
Would this antenna benefit from mounting on my shed roof that has a steel roof of 3.5mx6 m. As a ground plain

Sorry but no. It really is for portable operation. The telescopicl kelements would suffer long term. 73 Peter.
@@watersstanton Damn! The search continues for a multiband vertical i can mount at height🤔
This antenna comes with set screws for fixating the telescopic elements when mounted in a permanent way.

Wow is it in the wind

Nice Antenna. I wonder what's the lowest take off angle for this Antenna and can I work NVIS with it?

For 40-10m (but not WARC bands) try the Hustler 4BTV and uses a number of shgort rdials - say 3m long - laying on the ground.
Nice Jazz Guitar riff ... By the way do you need an antenna tuner to use that antenna?
Hi Roland,
You should not need an ATU. VSWR may rise to around 2:1 and the internal ATU would easily handle this. 73s Peter.

How does it work??? Very curious. Thanks. Intriguing.
I have the same question. Is there a hidden tuner, loader, capacitive coil etc?
This antenna is gud like CHA 250?
How irritating, I have just taken three tripods to the tip that had a worn out top section...... Great idea

I purchased them as used items at a ham radio meeting. Sorry this is not much help for you but thanks for watching. 73 Peter. G3OJV

Ah. Have seen the container which probably houses an Un/Un.
Very interesting antenna
Many thanks
My hf radio have no internal ATU do i have to use an external ATU?
It should work OK without one.
He needs to be careful, he almost poked himself in the eye a few times.
Although im putting in for my foundation i take it this could also b used for cb radio as well regards adrian

Can anybody tell me if this is a scanner receiver only antenna, thanks.
It’s transmit and receive.

Lima and Quebec.
India
I would suggest to use proper phonetics.
Europe uses different phonetics than the U.S.
