You called your video "How to make money buying...at Goodwill." All you showed was how to obtain values. You never showed how to make money, where you listed them, or whether you sold them at Replacements prices. I'm disappointed. If like to know how best to sell the china I bought at Goodwill. I already know how to value them. And Replacements prices tend to run high, so do you price then for a bit less? And on what platform do you sell them?
I think if you have beautiful pieces of plates etc. you should pull them out of the cupboard and use them everyday with family and friends, life is to short, make everyday a blessing.
Could you do a video sometimes of what you actually sell bone China for? Most don’t charge what replacement charges, but I would love to know how much they actually sell for.
I have been finding that it is very difficult to sell heirloom china, silver, and crystal sets now. Having no children to hand down to I would like to sell at some point. It will kill me to let go of family treasures but when I'm gone nobody will care anyway. Sad to see so much china that you find at thrift stores...kind of tells you how far we as a people have fallen. The young people are more interested in mixing patterns. So sad! I'm very happy to see how much joy you have collecting these beautiful dishes.
the floral plates made in Staffordshire are my favorite too. I also sell dishes on ebay. The market dictates the price that is a fraction of what Replacements asks. That's probably why they only have a 5% sell through rate. The Johnson Bros are lovely and a popular pattern. The market is usually saturated but a set of square bowls sold and shipped this morning. Unfortunately, I have bad news. The "England 1883" stamp is made in China. The most valuable stamp is brown and says "Made in England"
Replacements dot com is the highest prices to comp. Most people on Ebay and Etsy will not pay those prices so you can't expect to sell for those prices. I do use Replacements dot com to identify patterns but not reference prices I can expect to get when I sell on Ebay or Etsy. Great collection you have acquired and awesome prices, thank you for sharing.
Better valuation is sold ebay listings. Look made in USA, England, and Europe dinnerware. Japanese Mikasa is OK. Finding great deals is not the problem. Packaging and shipping is the problem. Finding boxes and packing materials is a challenge. My latest finds are Vernonware Homespun and Lotus Metlox, both made in USA. M.A. Hadley are good sellers. My English finds are Botanical Garden Portneirion and several Johnson Brothers patterns. Some European are good such as Villeroy and Block.
Oh wow! Very cool-I just bought a two tiered server in the Friendly Village pattern by Johnson Brothers yesterday at a thrift store. They had soooo much fine china in so many sets of patterns that I’m making a special trip back to buy up everything today. Incredible what you can find in thrift stores!
Beautiful & nice finds. I found some rose medallion sets which I'm very happy about. I also found an Ivers pond piano I got pretty cheap, turns out it's 117 years old and still functional. I love antiqueing.
recognised the johnson brothers at the beginning ive sold the friendly village many times im always trying to find clarice cliff who was pioneer in art and design in the art deco period ,lovely film called the colour room about her life.worth a watch.clarice cliff is the most collected especially when it comes to price.loved your video damien
Really enjoy your channel.. I do the same thing you do... I even find things in trash or on side of the road marked free... My house is a museum.... I never pay more than 5 for any larger single item.. And usually 3 bux for cups n saucers mismatched sets of dinner china usually abot 5 to 7 depending what it is and how many pieces bundled for set. Hit the thrifts whenever so sometimes will be a 50% off day on the goodies! Last summer antique dealers behind me loved out of state... Had a 4 day sale in driveway... Then i saw them setting boxes to curb marked FREE... I cant even tell you the unbelievable things i got... They sold most high end... And had to be out next day moving out of state... I got 8 boxes and bins of china... They told me... Please take it! Give it a good home! I had shopped the sale earlier... And had buyers regret on a few items i passed over.... By the end of the day i ended up with those items and many more... ❤was a once in a lifetime score!
I just found your channel! I collect vintage/antique plates as well. I'm starting to run out of room! You taught me something I didn't know! I always thought those small bowls were dessert bowls and you've told me that they are berry bowls. Cool! Thanks!
