This is a great video! We have more on our channel. We are restoring this house. We call it the Mooreland House now and have a FaceBook page and UA-cam channel.
So sad that this was allowed to happen to this house. Thank heaven Frank and Kerry are savinf it. It would be so lovely to see the paintings that were stripped out of it, and are on sale at the local "antiques store" could be returned to their rightful place.
At least the beautiful house is being restored. The couple that bought the house have a UA-cam channel showing the work they have done. It's called Saving Harrisburg Castle for those interested. A great watch.
O.m.g. This old house could be used in the movies and look at that beautiful marble sink the place is creepy but also very interesting be careful and happy house hunting
As I walked through the home through your Camara lens, I could feel her sadness. She longs for the days when she hosted grand parties, when family gathered in front of the fireplace. She longs to feel the pitter patter of children's feet as the run up and down the stairs. So sad to see such a grand structure nothing but a shell of what she once was
Frank and Kerry are dedicated and doing amazing work on this house. Check out their UA-cam channel Saving Harrodsburg Castle lots box video as they bring this house back to life.
When Bardstown native and Washington, D.C./Hollywood socialite Catherine Conner accompanied her father one evening to speak with Madge Rowan Frost, the last mistress of Federal Hill (i.e. "My Old Kentucky Home") about selling the mansion to become a park, Mrs. Conner wrote that the mansion was aged, run down and worn out. In fact Mrs. Frost had nailed a quilt in front of open doorway in effort to stay warm. Upon leaving, Mrs. Connor's father commented to her, "That's what happens when the money runs out." Luckily My Old Kentucky Home remained occupied throughout its life. Nothing becomes derelict faster than an unoccupied house or building. I'd often wondered what Ashfeld Manor looked like inside. Thank you for satisfying my curiosity before it meets the wrecking ball or a hot match.
Hi Sean, I am okay. It's been a long time without an update, I'm sorry if it's drawn the concern of you or anyone else. I have succumb to getting full time job so there's not the time there used to be for this but I hope to find it again one day. Thanks for reaching out, take care.
Was this built by the same architect as the limestone house at the corner of St. James Court in Louisville?? I've got to say, this video angered me a bit. How much might it have cost for tar paper or even blue tarps if the owners could not have afforded a roof????? How did anyone expect to move bins of water that weigh about 300 pounds each?? This is a sinful waste of art and history. Stupidity.
Moorland House someone is restoring this beautiful home!

Oh, how wonderful, I hate to see these old beauties fall into decay, it's almost a sin. Some just can't see all the beauty left in them.
Its fun to watch this video now and see how much progress you have made since then.
