Oh my gosh that stair case and the window are beautiful! You two are awesome!
I really have enjoyed watching your endeavors in restoring Miss Mooreland. Your optimism and courage are very apparent. And i know the Lord is with you in all that you do. What a wonderful testimony!
I've been watching all the videos and now just finished season 1. I love the work you've done and marvel at your ability to problem solve to get the job done right. I've learned a few new terms, and don't plan ever to buy a big mansion or climb up onto a roof. But you two do it so well.
Wow, your castle is fantastic and it is beautiful, I can see why you wanted to restore her. Thanks for the content. The staircase is exceptional.
First impression "what a nightmare"! containers everywhere, overflowing water and falling ceilings! After cleaning, a completely different impression, even some of the floors look quite good. The biggest challenge so far has been the roof and I think that after repairing it there will be nothing worse, even the floor to be replaced, it's a trifle compared to the roof. You can see how much work you have done and how much effort it cost. Respect to Kerrie and Frank for what you've done and what lies ahead. And in the meantime, you raised two cat ladies.👍👏🍀🍀
@@moorelandhouse Certainly, I know something about how cats can make you feel better.
I have family that lives nearby and I would visit them. This house didn't look that bad 15-18 years ago. It's sad how quickly water can ruin a home. When I saw it for sale last year, I was really worried that it would get bulldozed and then re-zoned commercial or something. I'm so so happy and relieved to see that you two bought it and are restoring it.
Yes, we feel that most people would have looked at all that was wrong with it and done just that. We think we saved Miss Mooreland from a slow death.
Incredible work on this beauty! And the kitties - they’re so big! A huge congratulations, and a heartfelt thank-you for saving this lovely, lovely estate!
I absolutely love the work you’re doing! It makes my heart happy to see someone so devoted to saving this beautiful piece of history!
i used to live in harrodsburg.......my dad was thinking hard about buying this house and renovating it. glad someone is doing something with it!! i hated seeing it in shambles
@@moorelandhouse haha i sent him a couple of your videos! The thing that turned him off were the price of slate roof tiles and having to pull all the limestone off in spots to redo that!
You guys need a TV show about your work on this beauty! American Chateau!
Ha! Most Americans can't even spell chateau. =) We will have to settle for UA-cam.
@@moorelandhouse I've been watching Dick and Angel Strawbridge's French chateau renovation and it completely made me think of you guys.
Thank you for this video! It was wonderful to see the progress you’ve made all in just one year and two people, fantastic job guys. It always amazes me how much better and bigger a room looks just by sweeping the floor. Miss Mooreland looks less abandoned and more loved with every video you post. Cannot wait to see your progress in the years to come. Congrats on your first year project anniversary.
PS love seeing your babies at the end of each video ❤️
💗✌️💗 Great job 👏👏👏
@@moorelandhouse I have just discovered your amazing channel few days ago. It was a recommendation from one of a "Château diaries" subscriber & I must say that I am hooked to your channel ❣️ Much love Arsen
Welcome to the family! We are small enough that we are able to get to know our commenters.
Wow, you folks have accomplished so much in a year, & bet still much to go. Hope bursting with pride& have every to do so..
It makes me want to cry just to see all the damage that is in this house . I wish I could be a part of their restoration just to help them clean up the mess .
Wow you've taken on quite a project. So much damage and repair to do.
Yes, it's still possible to save it though. We got to it just in time. Well, maybe a little late for areas like this one.
Happy One Year Anniversary. That year sure went by quickly, but it is truly amazing to look back and see all of the accomplishments made on this house. You two do incredible work. It has been enjoyable watching all the videos, as I know those take a lot of time to put together, so thank you! Looking forward to Year 2 :)
Yes, the year did go by very quickly. Time flies when you're having fun... right. Thanks for your comments over the year.
Happy anniversary!! Love this video, you two have done so much! Great work!
When I first started watching the videos I was a little confused as to why you would take on such a project that seemed so structurally poor. But this one your video is very revealing of the beauty that still left to be saved. It's very exciting to see how much of the original would that they've been able to try and save.
Don't worry, we have been a little confused some times about why we took on such a project as well. We have really enjoyed the journey though. =)
Although there is years of work to do , we appreciate what you have achieved already, looking like a grand lady after a night out , bit rough around the edges haha
Wow. Just makes you realise how much work you have put in to it. Well done. Looking forward to your next year of restoration .
Yeah, this video certainly brought back a lot of memories for us as we went through the old footage.
Home movies at their best! You have come so far! Looking forward to many more great videos!
Ha! Could you imagine back in the day if someone said they were bringing over their projector and home movies so you can watch them work. Progress?
Awesome episode!! Love seeing the before and after. You have accomplished so much.
Such a great video. You guys have made such a difference I can see her coming to life. This is such a wonderful thing to watch thank you for sharing.
Thank you for the update please keep updating love to see the end look. Its looking so good already you all have worked so hard always loved driving past it and now passing by it looks loved
You guys are amazing 👏❤
Congratulations!!! I love how organized & clean you are with the house. Thank you for taking a piece of history under you're wing 🙌
What a massive undertaking! I just love how you seem to do a bit at a time and keep going. It's a lesson in perseverance! How much more time do you think remains until completion? And will you have a celebration or open house? So exciting to see your work!
We figured it would take 10 years. We feel like we are on track for what we expected. We should be done in 9 more years. We will definitely have a celebration.
Happy one year! I have enjoyed all videos. This video actually shows how very hard you have worked. Things are looking up! Praying for another year of progress to come.
Thanks! It would be easier if Frank didn't have a full time job but then who would pay the bills. =)
Hello! Did you throw out all the old doors and handles ?? I love all those little details!! Or did you save any of the furniture?? Gorgeous house!!! Can’t wait to see final results!!
There wasn't any furniture left in the house. We don't waste anything but rotten wood and stone. We want to take the house back to it's original glory.
Hallo ik ben pas nieuwe volger groot project dat kasteel maar komt wel inorde wat ik zp geweldig vind de beelden van de katjes ik heb er ook 7 zalige beestjes
I wanted to let you know you need to pull all the window treatments down in the house. Fabric holds odor. It will feel and smell so much better.
I am from California and been watching videos about this house for a long time. I moved to Harrodsburg in July of 2023. Ive been by the place a few times now. I was wondering if I could take a tour one of these days.
We can't do any public tours because we don't have any insurance. We plan on doing tours and possibly allowing volunteers once we can get some kind of coverage.
Simply amazing progress. And I love those lamps that line the walkway to the house. Do they work? Or will you be able to clean the glass in the cylinders of the light fixture? You guys have done so much bravo and kudos to you both.
We don't have electricity in the Mooreland House yet. The wiring is all going to need redone.
You guys are so nice about reading the comments - sometimes we just feel ignored on the other channels. Can you do a video of the beautiful front porch - I remember seeing a bit of the front door but I want to see what kind of tiles or whatever is on the floor and any other antique details. It'd be great to see the French doors and I guess the back door is off the kitchen. Checking out the entry ways I guess. Is there a cistern in the yard? I thought the yard was really nice in past videos - I guess I mean how much land comes with the house. Keep up the good work.
We like the comments. Granted, we don't have the amount of subscribers some channels have. We are not sure what the trick is to get that many viewers. As far as the portico, we will see what we can do. =)
I love the recap - maybe should have thrown in the infamous truck accident and the beautiful magnolia trees when Frank was out there trimming them by the house. I said it before and I'll say it again you guys got there just in time! Keep up the good work - we'll be watching. Spider-Man and Arachnia up on the roof! ( is there storage underneath the curved stairway part?)
Thanks! There is no concealed storage areas in the house. Kerry's dad has knocked on every piece of wood in the place looking for a secret compartment. =)
Amazing amount of work in just a year! It is obvious that you spent the first year focusing on repairing the infrastructure to stabilize the house and prevent further deterioration, like repairing the roof and replacing rotten beams that support the roof. I was wondering what your main focus will be for year 2?
We still have a few water intrusion issues to deal with and then we are going to focus on rebuilding the stone walls. We would really like to get a few windows rebuilt as well. One of our biggest problems is that the Mooreland House is so huge that each issue is an epic saga.
Maybe you covered it, but how do you deal with mold issues? How much have you come across? You guys are doing a fantastic job so far; This is such a huge project.
We haven't encountered any dangerous mold. Most of that type of mold grows in unventilated areas. Lucky the Mooreland House has been well ventilated. =)
Great summary of the year. Wow, a lot of work & progress over this last year with a long way to go. It is enjoyable to watch your progress. Thanks for sharing. I was always fascinated by that house when I moved here 14 years ago
This house is amazing! Thank you for saving her! One question, a lot of fireplaces are missing. Were these stolen, or taken down for protection and preservation? And that stained glass window!!
@@moorelandhouse 😢😢
I’m sure you will find beautiful replacements. You are living my dream, thanks for taking me along!
Not sure if I just missed it or not, but did you mention when you'll get started on replacing the wallpaper?
i wonder what was the orignal exterior, red brick, white stone or something else? how's the basement? any tunnels?
The exterior is all original. There is a video tour of the basement but no tunnels.
I've been trying to find out how this poor house came to be in such poor condition. In the photos from 2013, the house doesn't seem to have any roof failure issues. What happened between 2013 and 2020?
Oh, it was leaking. They probably were still emptying the tubs on the third floor.
What will you do with the manor after you finish restoring it?
That’s amazing the manor really deserves a loving and thriving family in it again because it’s gorgeous.
Frank and Kerry, would you be interested in being featured as a Pioneer Salute? Toni Preston is the chair person. How can we connect you? Thank you-
We don't know what the Pioneer Salute is but we are willing to look at it. You can email us at contact@moorelandhouse.com
Are you worried about mold.
No. The lime in the mortar and the constant ventilation from the missing windows and walls kept it at bay.
I’m local and would love to volunteer some time helping you guys if you it. If interested, private message me for more info.
Thanks Lori! We are still trying to do the big stuff. We wouldn't feel comfortable asking people to join us on the roof. When we get to easier stuff like the inside we will probably allow volunteers to help out. Just keep track of us and we will let people know if we are ready.
I’ve driven by this house my whole life and always thought it was such a diamond in the rough. I’m glad to see someone is restoring it. Keep posting!!
We are having a great time doing it.
