      A good while back I got real sick. And the doctor told me he was going to put me in the hospital. However at the time I was married to a nurse. So he let me go home and I had to stay in bed. I watch a lot of day time TV.
      And for the most part it suxed.
      However I did see this, on some of these shows they went out and found some couple having trouble. He is not attracted to her anymore. And when they showed the girl.
      Yeah she was as ugly as a bowling shoe.
      So the next day same couple. Only this time they bring out this girl / woman. They gave her a bath fixed her hair. Put her in some nice clothes. And fixed her up with a little make up. Damn she looked good. The reason I tell you this because you sound as if your self esteem is a bit low. The best investment you can make is the one you make in yourself.
      If you have to visit a beauty shop. Spend some money on learning how to make you look as good as you can. First thing you need to do is fix yourself. Before you try and fix some one else.
      When it comes to family who the hell
      knows ? Some thing can get their panties in a twist and they got to take it out on someone.

      Homeless folks, love stumbling upon homes like that. At least you can stay warm. Out of the cold. Yet freaky at the same time. You Know?

    • @frequencyfluxfandango8504
      @frequencyfluxfandango8504 8 років тому +6

      Yes, I was thinking along those lines too. SO many homeless people and yet all those empty houses. Probably owned by the bank now and now they've got it, they just let it rot so some poor fella can curl up in a tent.
      What a waste.

      a house typically gets like this when the roof tiles aren't changed. 99% of the damage comes from a neglected roof.

    • @frequencyfluxfandango8504
      @frequencyfluxfandango8504 7 років тому +1

      bit blazers Yep, True. -but I think the real crime is how these stupid fkg laws say homeless people aren't allowed to stay in them either. People perhaps suffering outside in harsh weather. etc etc.
      It's almost universal whichever country you're in too, because of the economic ramifications for those at the Top of the financial Heap !

  • @gr8guitarplayer

    Hoarding is a sign of a sort of mental illness, tied somehow to depression. People want to hang onto things to help them cope with whatever problems they have. Therefore, the last occupants possibly couldn't handle the house, and the upkeep, and let it go. Maybe they were put in a home, or had to move in with other relatives, and couldn't take most of their stuff with them, probably b/c they couldn't afford it. It's sad. Don't be angry at them because you don't know what state of mind they were in. (At least she DID say she just didn't understand how someone could let a house go into disrepair like that. I tried to offer a possible explanation.)

    There's something very personal and sad about these abandoned houses with all their belongings. It's as if we are prying into the personal space of someone's most personal space, their home.. I suppose that's what UA-cam has allowed us to do .. The sad thing is that all the stuff seems irrelevant without the people who owned it.. It's kind of a reminder that we're all gonna die some day and the most important thing in life is family and friends, people......... When all is said and done, the material things in life are just stuff we use on our journey. No matter who we are, we come into the world with absolutely nothing and we leave with absolutely nothing..

    I could feel the pain, anger and fury in her voice along with such sadness, too. I certainly hope that before the house falls in on itself that you all can at least get the family portraits and mementos out to be saved and passed on to future generations. Some of that furniture is worth saving if not for sentimental value, then for resale. Let someone enjoy it rather than have it be lost. It looks as if that internal chimney collapsed and caused the floors in those 2 rooms to sink. Jacking the floor back up is a possibility if you really want to save the house, but if you don't, it's just a matter of time before the house falls in from the middle. Best wishes for whatever you decide to do.

    The saddest thing of all is that someone who doesn't know the innermost secrets of the residents' circumstances appoints themselves judge and moral authorities of other peoples' lives and living conditions. For all these inspectors know, there may have been precious little money for food, let alone upkeep of the structure. Elderly people can become very prone to falls and accidents due to weak muscles, stiffness, and poor balance.. which often results in fear of falls in the tub, a source of disastrous injury and loss of independence in the elderly. Calling for help is feared also, as it too can result in loss of independence when the state intrudes to insure the 'welfare' of residents. I wonder if Miss Judgemental bothered to go to the effort of helping these people while they were in decline and living here. Hoarding often is symptomatic and even a compensation for extreme poverty, in this case collections of clothes, televisions (perhaps for spare parts?) and heaven knows what to produce an abundance of SOME kind in the mind of a destitute individual. To me this points to a destitute condition on the part of the caregiver also, perhaps living here and taking care of the owner as a way of making ends meet. Saddest of all is the condition of a society that ignores the needs of others to this level of isolation.

I saw some things worth some money, there were planters and dishes worth some, the sewing machine, the vanity , the bedroom furniture. You may find some of your Grammy's stashes of valuables. Older people hid their things. Look in the back of pictures, back of Television or radios. Pockets of clothing. Look in the pages of her bibles and books for bills of money. I had a Grammy who died too, found many hidden things. Best wishes.

    This just broke my heart. I love old houses, would never choose a new home over an old one. I would have loved to seen my great grandparents house again before new people bought it and I'm sure modernized it ( there was only one bathroom in the house and it didn't have heat). I spent every weekend with my great grandparents. Watching you walk through that house, I wonder why you didn't take some of her stuff that you wanted. I would love to have some of my memmy's stuff. Your house there is full with beautiful antiques that a collector would love to have. And the house itself is amazing, from the fireplaces in each room to the green wall tile in the kitchen. It's a shame that the upkeep wasn't done on the house, but regardless of the condition of the house, you still have your memories that can not be taken away.

      We had a beautiful 1890 east coast house by the sea in our family but, when my great Aunt died, nobody wanted to live there because all the kids had their own home near their working place. It stood up alone from 1969 to 2009 until some hitchhikers broke in for the night and set it ablaze by accident (That's what they said). If I would've been old enough, being just 6 or 7 years old at the time, I would've moved in. It was all white and light grey cedar shake on the outside and tons of oak on the inside. That wrap-around porch and second floor solarium was quite the beauty. A little bit of me died when I saw what was left of it the next year I visited my ancestral village. If I can, when I'll retire, I'd like to buy my Grandfather house near from the house he grew in (The one that burn down). Its only a 10 hours drive east from here and even though I wasn't born there, I always call this village, home.
