That strap seem rather inconvenient, although I have zero experience with full face helmets. Been on market for one though. Otherwise great looking helmet. Great review!
Is the hardware that holds the the chinstrap stainless steel? I don’t mean the double D closure, I mean what is riveted to the inside of the helmet. I find it is not stainless on many helmets and rusting a lot from salty sweat.
Your content is so detailed, thank you. I have a Super DH and it is okay but... Are you aware of any bike helmut(s), regardless of use case, that use a strap that's more like those used on motorcycle helmuts (especially with removable chin guard)? I don't like the two thin Y-strap that is in front and back around the ear, the complicated adjustment, etc. Motorcycle helmuts often include wide/thick padding between the strap and neck, and/or quick-release like a zip-tie. These are so much better, and I don't know why bike helmut manufacturers won't innovate. Thanks.
Still haven’t seen you look at the Fly Werx R. Arguably one of, if not THE safest helmet on tue market with their RHEON protection. Would love to hear your thoughts on it Vs this current Leatt
It’s been a while since we’ve ridden one. Fly seems to make very little effort into the bike space and to be honest, we even forget about the brand as an option until someone mentions them. We’ll try to get one and see how it goes.
Ya. They definitely focus their marketing efforts into moto. I have a couple pairs of their pants and shorts, as well as a Werx R. Pants fit great, as do their shorts. One pair has a boa which works awesome. I can’t say enough good things about my experiences with the Werx R. I also have a 6D ATR2 for my moto helmet. This Werx R fits so good, good goggle opening (fits 100% Armega’s or Scott Prospect’s great) and that Rheon…😮💨 I’ve had a few concussions, sadly, and I hit my head in my first Werx R quite hard. The second my head hit the ground I was instantly angry as I knew I hit it hard enough to concuss myself. 🤬 I got up and the rest of the group slowly caught up. I waited probably 10 mins and no concussion symptoms. No seeing stars, no light headedness, nothing. I continued riding that day symptom free and clear headed. Very, very impressed with the Rheon.
FYI 6d is coming out with a new enduro helmet this April. I know nothing about it but hope it’s good because I wear there atb-1 now and want a new full face but needs to be a safe one. @@unclewickedmtb2023
Would you say its more protective then the Gravity 4.0? I have a 4.0 now and I'm looking for more of a true DH helmet for park days, looking at the Gravity 6.0 and 100% Aircraft 2. I know you can't safety test the helmets, but still appreciate your opinion. Love your reviews, thanks!
The Gravity 4.0 and Gravity 6.0 are very much the same helmets. The only real difference being the weight due to the different shell materials. If you don't absolutely need to replace the 4.0, upgrading isnt necessary. Now if you had the Enduro 4.0, then absolutely an upgrade would be warranted. That said, between the Gravity 6.0 and Aircraft 2, Gravity 6.0 all day...even though the aircraft 2 helmets have a much more refined look and better paint jobs. From a safety standpoint, the Leatt helmet is a night and day better option.
That could be true for a size small. We weighed our Large helmet and it weighs right around 972 grams. Most brands only include weights of their size smalls / mediums depending on the product.
Today, I tried the iXS Trigger and Leatt 6.0 in a store here in Germany, and both FF helmets are definitely top-notch, but for me the weight of the helmet decides and the iXS Trigger is definitely the winner because the size M weighs 590 g, which is incomparable to the Leatt 6.0, which is at least 300 g more, which is a lot when you wear the helmet all day, and the iXS Trigger is made for even better ventilation, which is also important in spring and summer. iXS Trigger it costs 290 euros here in Germany, but it is currently on sale for 159 euros, which is another reason to buy that FF helmet 😊
Thanks for sharing. The iXS Trigger is a helmet we have reviewed and enjoy a bit, however we would not put these two helmets in the same category at all. Leatt has other helmets that are much closer to the Trigger in terms of weight and level of protection. In our opinion, the Trigger is a great enduro, pedal-friendly full face but if we were riding a downhill or enduro bike and doing proper DH laps, we would much rather have this as it's a full-on DH helmet. Thanks again for writing in! We're happy to hear you found a helmet that fits you and you like, especially on sale! NICE!

Thanks for sharing. We don't mind this style closure, but it's not the fastest, however it is likely the most secure.
D-ring chin straps are pretty standard for DH and MOTO helmets. Typically far more secure than a snap-style strap.
Get a D-ring strap helmet. They are just better and you will learn how to use it in no time. Becomes 2nd nature and easy.
Does the nose piece on those googles give you a sort of "ghost blur" in your low center vision?
Some of the older Leatt Helmets had a "pointy" or too "rounded" of a chin which make action cam chin mount not an option. How is it on this one?
How does it compare to a Giro switchblade regarding ventilation and drying speed?
